Thank you. You guys tell quite a tail. But, for the Sox, to no avale as they will not prevale.

With the Tigers and Indians improving their teams so much with trades now and the Sox starting pitching likely to falter with Peavy unhealthy and Humber tiring they will clearly not make the playoffs. KW needs to work on future plan and unload Thornton, Pierre and whoever else does not figure into next year's plan.

In case anyone is interested I just want to make it known that I am dangling two garbage bags filled with lawn clippings and coffee grounds. I am willing to accept below market value for these precious commodities.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My sources tell me that several teams are interested in Alex Rios right now and are willing to send the Sox two lesser prospects with the Sox absorbing 110 % of Rios' contract. -
Which players will be traded before Sunday at 4 pm
WHITESOXRANDY replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The truth is they don't NEED to trade anyone now. The only one that they will lose to FA is Pierre and he wouldn't bring much any way. Since, it's possible that the division is so bad that with just the Sox pitching well they may win it or come close enough down to the last week. They might as well keep course. They can always trade Quentin, Thornton and the rest after the season. I still think KW did a nice job in the Jackson/Teahen deal. And, I've ripped on KW more than anyone. That was a smart move that really helped the team's financial picture and solidified what might now be the best pen in the game. At this point the pitching gives the Sox a decent chance - as tonight proved. If this offense can't be better than this than they're pathetic. Not much they can do at this point. -
KW does not have the patience for rebuilding. He never has and never will.

I'm gonna say right now that there is no way that the Sox will ever eat that much of anyone's contract. -

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
WHITESOXRANDY replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I officially sign off on this deal. Nice job, KW! And, even better bringing up De Aza and sitting down Rios - finally. Next, should be to sit Dunn and then maybe we roll. Anyway, good deal for the Sox. The bullpen should be real solid now. As long as Peavy does what he was supposed to do the pitching looks good. It looks like KW will try to add a bat for somewhere in the lineup with the savings from this deal. I just hope that Dunn is not still playing everyday and batting in the middle of the lineup 2 weeks from now if he is still hitting .160. -
Definitely out. This team is built to dissapoint. I would much rather see young kids with some life in a complete rebuild.

The Tigers will get Kuroda or someone similar that will be an upgrade over the back of their rotation. That is their biggest weakness. With Ordonez back they are hitting the ball really well and with hitters like Cabrera, Martinez, Peralta, Ordonez, Avila, Guillen and Joyce all healthy now they will blow the doors off the Sox. No, adding Rasmus will do very little for this team. They are not good at winning baseball games and Rasmus won't change that. They are not even a .500 team. I'm not saying trading for him is a bad move but the Sox should be eyeing next year and beyond. This is a garbage bunch of dogs they have this year. They are going nowhere - not even with a couple of moves.
-
If the Tigers add a quality starting pitcher like they are trying like crazy to do then the Sox are done. They can't catch Detroit with another solid starter even if they got Rasmus for Jackson straight up. The Sox are just not good. They will not finish ahead of Minny and Detroit merely by adding Rasmus and bringing up Viciedo.

Yes, nice guy. He also has a reputation for not being a hard worker. Maybe, when you are in your 30's now that starts to take its toll. And, if you've seen him play you have to wonder what aspects of baseball has he been working on all these years? It looks like about all he's been working on is havin a few beers and going out there and swinging hard.

Maybe the Sox could trade Dunn to Oakland for Fautino De Los Santos, Gio Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney.
-
Wrong. No team was ever mentioned as willing to offer a contract anywhere near what the Sox offered Dunn. AFTER Peavy's injury NO team was interested except the Sox. Jackson's interest was not high when he was getting pounded in Arizona. Certainly, no one was offering a 19 y.o. LHP prospect that was a number 2 pick along with a ML ready starting pitcher. They were all ridiculous deals from the start. The only way these could have panned out for the Sox would be if Jackson consistently pitched like an ace from season start to finish, Peavy miraculously became immediately healthy and stayed that way for years and also miraculously pitched with the some success in the AL as he did pitching in the NL and the most pitcher friendly park in baseball. Those things were never gonna happen. With Dunn, even if he hit like the past he wasn't worth a first round pick and that $ 56 mil. contract for an aging guy that can't play the field for you and even when going good bats .250 and strikes out more than anyone.

Sox "uncharacteristically quiet" on trade front
WHITESOXRANDY replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would be very surprised if the Sox coouldn't get a solid prospect for Quentin. I know the issue is the $$$ that he is expected to make next year. I would think that the Angels, Oakland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Atlanta,Pittsburgh, S.F. and Cincy would all be interested. A lot of those teams have many good prospects in their systems. -
Rios and Dunn have been allowed to be so bad for so long they would have no right to say a f***ing word if they were sat for the rest of the season for De Aza and Viciedo. It could only help the Sox anyway. If they perform well then the Sox have more trade value. It's not like the Sox have any chance to trade Dunn or Rios. Let those guys bust their humps over the winter and make them win big league jobs in the spring.

Well, if Dunn's knee gets a little worse then they're all set. -
I swear, the White Sox are just jinxed in terms of big acquisitions, lately. Yeah, I'm just curious. Can anyone name the other teams that the Sox beat out to shell out all the prospects and big bucks to acquire Jake Peavy,, Juan Pierre, Adam Dunn, Edwin Jackson and Alex Rios ? I never read about any other teams really going after these guys. Hmmm. And, that's what makes KW even worse. All of these guys could have been acquired for less than what the Sox gave up because every one of these teams were deperate to unload the contracts of these players. But, when KW wants a player thats all that matters. The cost doesn't matter to him. He will get the player at any expense. It is just so beyond stupid!
-
IMO, they will bring him up after the deadline because KW will wait to the last second holding out hope for this hopeless team to turn it around. Ofcourse, they won't. Then, he will move Pierre or Quentin and bring him up then.

7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN
WHITESOXRANDY replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Nearly August and the Sox are 7 games up on a KC team that is rebuilding and they can't hardly beat them. Pathetic. I don't even want KW anywhere around the Sox. His whole philosophy is garbage. Get someone at the top that wants to build a professional organization from top to bottom. -
McKeon: "GUILLEN WOULD BE AN IDEAL FIT"

It wouldn't surprise me if he managed there next year. It would probably be a good move for him to get away from KW. I just wish the Sox could get away from KW. -
Poll: Viciedo, De Aza, Milledge and Danks
WHITESOXRANDY replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's a guy down in AAA easily outhitting Viciedo. In 83 games he's scored 75 times and knocked in 66. He has a .427 OBP and his OPS is 1.006. He's a big strong left handed bat and he can even run and steal some bases. His name is Brandon Allen. I don't hear everyone saying that he needs to come up now because he's gonna tear up Major League baseball. He won't and neither will Viciedo. Maybe, down the road, in 2-3 years they might be big-time hitters. -
Here on out, what do you think should be done with Sale?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to shlammajamma's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Keep him in the pen for now. Then, when we trade Jackson next week and Peavy goes back on the DL move him into the rotation. Then, when Peavy comes back, move him back to the bullpen. Then, when he goes on the DL again... -
How valuable is SLG when evaluating leadoff?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Slugging is very valuable especially in the AL ! The leadoff guy only starts the game once. And, in the NL he always follows the pitcher - not so in the AL. That's why it was nice having Pods here in 2009. He had some pop and was a cluth hitter and drove in a lot of big runs. I believe he had 50 some RBI's and that was with missing some games.
