  1. WRONG. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...84199/index.htm This is a good article. You'll see why the Sox had no competition for Dunn.
  2. In the last 6 games Dunn is 2 for 22. Clutch. That's why is average went way back down again. That's how it works.
  3. Vlad batter .300 last year and drove in 115 runs. He's hitting .308 right now. I'm not saying that he is the player that he was but he was practically free compared to Dunn. And, he's a better hitter. That's my point. There were a lot of other things that we could have done with $ 56 mil. like keeping Putz for $ 5 mil. per year and many other things and maybe even that draft pick could have been a great player that the Sox could have ruined in 2 years. That would be interesting to watch again.
  4. Dunn isn't going anywhere. No other team would've given him that contract the SOX did this winter. ANd, he's a dinosaur now. Teams are not going with strictly DH's anymore. They are using multi-faceted players at that spot for flexibility. He's a dying breed and the Sox have him for 4 years. It's not that he doesn't have value. He does and he will hit better. But, in no way was he worth that deal for the Sox - not even close.
  5. Good one. We also could have had another professional hitter - Vlad. But, he guess he was too expensive at $ 8 mil. Plus, the Sox couldn't have given away any pitching prospects or draft picks for him so I guess that wouldn't have figured into Kenny's 3-year plan.
  6. Sergio ? Hell no. The Sox pitchers have to be almost flawless for the Sox to win. When are these hitters gonna grow some balls? Or, is it all Greg Walker's fault?
  7. It's Adam Dunn to tie.....and it's...it's....it's .....a waste of $ 56 mil. bucks ! And, a first round draft pick! Yeah !
  8. Do you think that the Sox could get Bryce Harper for all of their minor league players?
  9. The story of today's White Sox game: Sox can't hit Lilly.
  10. Vladimir Guerrero just had his 6th straight multi-hit game today. Do you think the Sox could trade Adam Dunn to the Orioles for Guerrero and their first round draft pick? It would be good if they could. That way the Sox could have 2 professional hitters on the team.
  11. Does anyone see any trades happening now? That's because teams don't make trades in May when the season just started.
  12. I will say this, Kenny Williams did a great job (much better than me) up until 2009. He was basically a bargain hunter and he was good at it. Then, he started going after big names and throwing around tons of money and lots of prospects and always against my judgement. Unfortunately, he's been completely wrong about PEAVY, PIERRE, TEAHEN, DUNN and JACKSON. Those were all bad moves that I was against and they all collectively have decimated this organization. It's time for a change.
  13. I would offer the entire White Sox farm system for Strasburg. But, Washington isn't that stupid.
  14. No s***. When is the last time that this worked? It's unbelievable that the Sox are "all in" but have no 5th starter. But, they can afford the most expensive DH in baseball. Pitching is what they need to win. Pitching is what cost them the divison last year and this year they have less than last year. At the end of this season when the Sox have once again finished second to Minnesota THIS is what we will point to as to where the Sox blew it! Kenny Williams should know better by now than to go into the season short on starting pitching. Adam Dunn isn't going to make the difference up.
  15. So, how many games are the Sox going to give away until Peavy is pitching like his old self again ?
  16. Except that he'smaking more money than almost every player that created more runs than he did and they actually play a DEFENSIVE position! They play the whole game and help win games on defense and some can actually run and help their teams on the bases. They can bunt, hit and run etc. Way way overpaid for Dunn. But, I guess that's why Kenny got him. Didn't see other teams tripping over themselves to give him that money.
  17. Go ahead and explain why Adam Dunn has never managed to finish in the 20 in NL MVP voting in his entire 10 year career ? How is it that the guy is so valuable but never happens to be even one the 20 best in the National League? Let's hear your excuses for that. In fact, you couldn't even find 1 star player that never did that. Go ahead - find one.
  18. I think that some of you are confused about the sport. It's called "baseball " not " home run". In fact, a team can aactually lose a game 2-1 while still outhomering the opposition. Adam Dunn does so little on a baseball field. Any player that can play any defensive poistion adequately and provide respectable offense is worth far more than a DH. Incidentally, last year Dunn finished 23rd in runs created - right behind Kelly Johnson. Konerko finished 7th, Jayson Werth 11th, 2b Richie Weeks 12th, 2b Dan Uggla 16th (signed for less than Dunn) and Shin-Soo Choo was 18th. Dunn is okay for a DH. He just isn't much of a ballplayer at all and certainly won't be worth $ 56 mil. The only thing I've heard anyone say in his defense is "he can hit 35-40 homers". Well, I guess in that world Dave Kingman is the greatest player that ever lived.
  19. Is he gonna knock in 35 homers a year for the last 10 years for the Sox this year? What does that have to do with anything? The point is the guy is NOT a big run producer. He's only a DH and there are clearly better hitters out there for less money - Jim Thome for one. Is there any doubt at all that the White Sox would win more games this year with Vlad in the DH spot than Dunn? Vlad is a professional HOF hitter. There will be no such thing as situational hitting with Dunn. I would like to know how many runs he drove in last year when the ball didn't leave the ballpark? I think that many Sox fans are going to be dissapointed after seeing how little Dunn really contributes to the team after watching him everyday.
  20. Run producer? I guess that you and I are talking about two different players. I'm talking Adam Dunn. I'm talking about a guy that HAS to hit 40 home runs to barely knock in 100 runs. That's what happens when he can't touch the ball 1 out of 3 trips to the plate and have a .250 average. You can't hardly drive in a run unless you hit it out of the park. And, 38 -40 homers is a lot but it isn't 45-55. For comparison's sake in the NL last year- Juan Uribe knocked in 85 and SS Troy Tulowittzki missed 30 games and knocked in 95. I guess that's why Dunn has never finished in the top 20 in the NL MVP voting even once in his career. I guess others don't think he's very valuable either. Maybe, that's why he's never been in a playoff game or even played on a team with a winning record. However, the Reds somehow got better as soon as he left. Hey, I'm not saying the guy is worthless but he's hardly a star or a great player and that's a big contract. Especially, when there are much better hitters still out there that the Sox could have saved a lot of money on the DH spot. Let's see Vlad Guerrero, a HOF hitter that just knocked in 115 last year(much more than Dunn ever did) and batted .300 again for about $ 5-6 mil. or the 200 K king for $ 56 mil ?
  21. Exactly. And, that's for a guy that can't play a position and has to DH. How in the world is that worth $ 56 mil. over 4 years? This is the list of things that he does well - 40 hrs. and lots of walks. The list of what this guy can't do on a baseball field is a long long list. I think he'll be a pretty good DH but the Sox way overpaid for ths guy.
  22. He was horrible! He blew 4 saves last year. The Sox will miss him. Believe it or not Thornton, Santos or Sale are gonna blow saves, too. They might blow more.
  23. I don't mind Dunn being the DH but I can't believe how much the Sox overpaid for him. s***. When you consider that the Sox could get a much better hitter like Vlad Guerrero on a two or three year deal at $ 6-7 mil per or even Thome on a 1 year deal for $ 4-5 mil. and Thome's better at 41 than Dunn is at 31. There's just no way that Dunn as a DH and not even close to being one of the best hitters in baseball or even a valuable player should command $ 14 mil. per year. Pujols will get $ 25 mil. per and if he was only a DH he would get much less and he's three times the hitter. It's just a huge overpayment. And, now how do the Sox convince Konerko to take less money than Dunn when he is clearly a far better baseball player.
