The Peavy deal will go down as Kenny's worst of all.
-
Yeah, I'm sure they'll take it slow. It's almost a guarantee that he will be Pierre's replacement. He will see the first pitch of the Sox 2012 season.
-
Here's an idea - don't trade him. However, if Kenny were to trade him he wouldn't do so for a handful of prospects. Kenny hates prospects. He's much more likely to trade him for a couple of veterans. How about this? The Danks brothers to Milwaukee for Fielder and Corey Hart ! I wouldn't do it because I'm not a fan of Fielder and I'd like to keep John Danks.
-
Because they are in dire need of pitching not hitting.
-
I'd rather the Sox re-sign Konerko and then see if they can dump off Peavy to the Brewers for Fielder.
-
I'd be willing to bet that Crawford wouldn"t sign with the Sox even if they were the highest bidder.
-
Listen up people ! Kenny getting Manny Ramirez and before that trying to get Lance Berkman, Carlos Delgado and whomever else is EXACTLY Kenny saying " We need Jim Thome !" I still understnd Ozzie's plan and I don't fault him for it. It was a big dilemma for this team. Either they do without Kotsay or Jones and that would hurt the team defensively. Which is why I couldn't understand not signing Aubrey Huff who plays a fair 3B, 1B and OF. Kotsay would not have been needed at all but they had already signed him. Too bad that $ 1 mil. they gave Kotsay stood in the way of their Division Championship. Instead, they threw away $ 3 mil. on Manny.

While I agree with that logic I still think that he's an adequate leftfielder. I would prefer the Sox keep him and have him play left next year. Ofcourse, they won't because they will play Pierre. I would rather see Pierre gone. Quentin is still only 28 and probably entering his prime years. I would not give him up easily. He could have huge OPS for years to come. The guy plays to win and I would keep him. Why trade him anyway ? They won't need starting pitching. All they will need, once again ,is a big LH bat.

$ 3 MIL. for Thome, Aubrey Huff or one month of useless Manny Ramirez ?
-
The pitch to Martinez was Buehrle's fault not Ozzie's. Right before the pitch I thought to myself....well Mark is going to pitch around him and put him on and then get Ortiz....but he didn't - Buehrle's fault!

Chris Sale Appreciation Thread (FIRE KEITH LAW)
WHITESOXRANDY replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not saying we rush Sale into the rotation. I'm saying that we keep them all and he'll be the 6th option. There's no need to trade Danks. It doesn't make sense. If Peavy, Thornton and Putz were healthy right now the Sox would have a decent chance to go all the way - with or without Manny. The pitching is the biggest component by far. The Sox rotation is set for next year. They are in a good position. They set up their bullpen very well for 2010 and if they do it again in 2011 they will have a great shot. Don't trade the starting pitching. Bats they can get. They could have gotten Aubrey Huff for $ 3 mil. investment and no prospects. Players are available. How did you like giving up Gio Gonzalez for Swisher ? -
Ozzie Keeping Sox In Race Without a Bullpen
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The biggest problem for the Sox right now is that Minnesota is pitching the best that they have all year right now. They haven't allowed more than 4 runs in any game in their last 10. Even Nick Blackburn just threw a shutout and they added two good relievers. It will be near impossible for the Sox to catch them if they continue to pitch well with a 4 game lead and a much easier schedule. Not to mention that Morneau might be back. -

I can't think of a better way for the Sox to start the 2011 season than with Danks, Floyd, Peavy, Buehrle, Jackson and Sale. It would be dumb to trade any of them. The Sox have no one else close to acceptable to replace them with and every team needs at leats 6 starters per season. Besides, the Sox don't have many holes in the lineup. As we saw last winter bats are cheap and easy to sign. The bullpen make up will be very important. -
The Edwin Jackson trade was ridiculous. Kenny totally got hosed on this deal. Right now, Jackson is no better than Hudson. Maybe Coop will make him better but how long will that take? Atleast a few starts, maybe not till next season. And, then he's gone after that! Boras takes him someplace else. Besides, he costs 8 1/2 mil. for next year vs. Hudson 1/2 mil. and they'd have Hudson for many years on the cheap. Then, he includes a top lefty pitching prospect in Holmberg, too! This, like the Peavy and Pierre deals. Not only do you take on risky talent, but pay them big salaries AND trade away a bunch of young talent! What's worse is that in none of these deals were there serious competition for these players. Who was beating down the door to get Juan Pierre and Edwin Jackson ? San Diego was dying to get rid of Peavy's salary. And, there went 8 solid pitching prospects ! Yes, 8. 8!
-
He looks nothing like Bill Madlock. He actually reminds of Manny Ramirez. I don't think he'll be that good but I wouldn't trade him unless it was part of a big deal for a very special player that would be here for a long time.

Brent Morel with torn labrum, surgery at season's end

I had that surgery. It's bad but since it's not his throwing shoulder that makes a huge difference. He'll be fine. -
July 2 signing period nears, Sox interested in...
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Ozzie Ball's topic in FutureSox Board
You are being penny wise and pound foolish. They are saving the money for the Major League free agent class of 2013. They need to sign Jamie Moyer, Vlad Guerrero and Chipper Jones for their last seasons. The team will need the leadership. -
Why is Randy Williams on this team?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't even want him on the team and my name is Randy ! -
I don't believe that a team with only 2 hitters is going to win anything.
-
That is great. Looks like next year Kenny could add him to the deal with Jared Mitchell and Chris Sale for Jamie Moyer.

Olney: Sox to start trading away vets
WHITESOXRANDY replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think if the Sox played the rest of the season with Danks, Pena, Linebrink, Thornton, Santos, Quentin, Rios, Pierre, Kotsay, Vizquel, Nix, Teahen, Beckham and Ramirez and Castro they wouldn't be too much worse than they are now just by bringing up 4 or 5 guys from the minors and picking up a handful of guys off waivers. They could still win 30 % of the time. -
Olney: Sox to start trading away vets
WHITESOXRANDY replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't see any team taking on Peavy's contract but that's what I said before the Sox traded for him and gave up 4 young pitchers. I can see a NL team taking on Buehrle's contract but not giving the Sox much in return - which is ok with me. Konerko should bring a pretty good prospect. I'd love to see Floyd, Putz, Jenks, A.J., Garcia and Jones moved. I would have to believe that Pierre, Teahen and Linebrink are untradeable. The Sox should keep Rios, Beckham, Ramirez, Danks, Thornton, Quentin, Santos and Pena. -

I can't wait. Who'd we get for Contreras and Thome ? -
He's right. It's possible that the White Sox can win all of these last 106 games. It's also possible that I can still be elected President of the USA as long as I am still breathing. However, it's more likely that I'm elected President than the White Sox even so much as finish with a winning record against Cleveland. Anyone that has watched this team and hasn't concluded that they are pure garbage is just refusing to believe their own eyes. This season could be extended for the next 20 years and the White Sox wouldn't ever again come within 8 games of the Minnesota Twins. Can you say....gar - bahj ?
-
Because the Sox have had so much success getting stars with the college players they have taken ?
