  1. With the roster as it stands now: 75 With Fields at 3B, Wasserman in the pen, a starting OF of Anderson in CF, Dye in LF, Swisher in RF, Quentin as the 4th OF: 88
  2. Crede and Masset on the roster over Wassermann and Fields. Hall is a joke for a backup cathcer. Ramirez the starting CF. Anderson on the bench. Crede,Masset and Hall would be waived by any organization trying to win it all this year as Kenny stated his goal was. The Sox will clearly lose more games because of these 3 guys being on the team. And, Ramirez should be the starting SS at Charlotte. His defense in CF along with Dye's in RF will really hurt the Sox. Dye should be the LFer. Oh well, we survived last year as the 4th place finisher with 72 wins while the flubs won their division. It looks like it'll be a two-peat!
  3. Just saw him play CF. It's not for him. Ozzie says that he's really rough at 2B. He does have a lot of raw talent. Seems to me the best thing for him would be to go to Charlotte to play SS every day. If they feel that he can be the Sox starting SS next year then they can let Cabrera walk. The problem is that if Ramirez and Ozuna are the utility guys then the defense will be well compromised. If Owens is the CFer and Fields is the 3b,and Dye is in RF, the defense will be suspect enough without weak defensive backups - not to mention that Hall can't throw behind the plate.
  4. The Dodgers have told Nomar that he's their starting 3b now. Probably until Laroche is ready and that could be ASAP. I don't see any interest from them. I can't see the Giants trading for both Crede and Uribe. I happen to think the Sox should hold onto Uribe - for awhile atleast. It's been reported that the Sox are not interested in Lowry and that's a good thing. I'm not expecting much back for Crede. I don't know what they could sweeten the pot with ? The Giants don't need OFers and the Sox have no infield prospects to spare. The Sox could give up a pitcher but the Giants don't need more. My feeling is that I would take the best young pitcher that I could pry from them and move on.
  5. Now, it's REALLY hard to imagine Crede not going to the Giants in the next week or two. 1. Vizquel and Durham are banged up and old so they need infield help badly. 2. They desperately need pop in that lineup with the catcher Molina penciled in at cleanup. 3. They've decided to only keep 11 pitchers and if you look at their rosters, they have a number of good looking young pitchers that they'll have to leave off and the Sox sure could use some young pitching. 4. Rowand and Schueler are pushing for Crede and there has been no other team even mentioned recently in connection with interest in Crede. The two teams need each other. Let's hope it gets done very soon. I'd love another quality young pitcher in the Sox system and the Crede era to be over.
  6. I'd love for one of these guys to be interviewed after a loss and the interviewer to ask them "Why did god want you to lose today? Does he love the other team more?" or "Why did god make you give up that dinger in the 8th ?"
  7. I just think that the Sox should stop acquiring players with any type of religious beliefs, those that deny the existence of a supreme power or the ones that believe in the big bang. I think that would only leave Uribe.
  8. Edmonds is injury prone ? Next, you'll tell me water is wet. Anyone with any knowledge of what the Sox were thinking of giving up for him ?
  9. Yeah. It was that and he couldn't play well enough. I'm sure the Fields thing is blown out of proportion. He'll be fine. He probably would fit in better with Colorado but the Sox clubhouse is far from the Playboy Mansion. Josh will be a fine ballplayer for the Sox for a long time. Crede is gone. Please. His agent is borass for the millionth time. They don't want to sign an extension with the Sox.
  10. They're unloading Crisp because of his salary and because Crisp will not be happy as a bench player. They just signed Kielty who is ..umm....nothing special. I would rather have Anderson and Anderson still has a minor league option. That's why. I think the Red Sox would be intersted in Haeger. The Sox would probably have to add more than those two. That's all I'm saying. I don't know what else the White Sox could give up ?
  11. Anderson, Haeger and Sisco/Masset for Crisp. The Sox would be much better for 2008. Wakefield could help Haeger become his replacement. Crisp is young. Crisp can hit and hit from both sides. He can play all 3 OF positions and has a good arm and he can run and he's not too expensive.
  12. Exactly. That's why I don't want him. He does so little for this team. Three years ago he could do a little more when he was younger and faster. But, even then his being on the team was more a factor of the weakness of the bench than his great ability. There's a reason that he's a career minor leaguer. And, now he's an older slower version. The Sox could do much better at filling this space. I'd even take Bourgeois over him.
  13. Let's see....Joe Borowski is the Cleveland closer and ummm....Todd Jones is the Detroit closer ? No way we can compete with that. Detroit's pitching could truly be worse than the Sox pitching was last year if a few things go wrong. That bullpen is particularly vulnerable and after Verlander, who in their rotation scares anybody ? Rogers,Bonderman,Willis and Robertson ?
  14. The only way that I would use Ozuna is as a DH so I would rather find another player that has speed and can bunt but can actually play some defensive positions adequately. Besides, Ozuna's best days as a utility guy are behind him. He's 33 and coming off a broken leg and speed was his best asset. I think he'll have negative value this year.
  15. Umm, realistically guys, Matt Cain right now is most likely San Fran's # 1 starter. I don't think they're going to trade him.
  16. Would someone please go to Spring Training and step on Ozuna's leg so that the Sox can get a useful player for the bench? Thank you.
  17. I know. I didn't really expect anything more. Maybe the Sox will get lucky on one of these guys. It could happen.
  18. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/press_re...sp&c_id=bos For those that didn't think the Sox would get anything for him - TWO....that's TWO single A pithcers that have been playing pro ball for 4 years and couldn't get above A.
  19. Could we give Sabean Crede, Masset, Anderson, Danks or Floyd(his choice), Uribe,Ozuna and a bottle of Jack Daniels for either Cain or Lincecum(his choice). Any chance?
  20. Maybe I'm the only person that doesn't think that having Uribe on the bench is a bad thing. I see Uribe as playing 2b against lefties, the only legit backup SS and 3B in the whole organization in case of injury to Cabrera and Fields. Ozuna, who I truly hope is not on the team, can only play 2B adequately....maybe. Ramirez probably starts the season in AAA. And, I expect good production from Richar but if he falls on his face there's no one else I would rather have starting than Uribe. I think it will turn out to be a wise move to keep him.
  21. Mac's "stuff" is great! You want him to get hitters out, too ? Some people are never satisfied.
  22. Mike Huccabee has the same chance of becoming President as Fields has of starting the season at Charlotte. Not gonna happen. The Sox may do some dumb things but starting the season with possibly their most dynamic hitter in the minors....well....they're not THAT dumb. They'll unload Crede for a C prospect before that happens. And, I haven't even mentioned the dollars in savings. Anyway, with the Dotel signing, I am officially excited for this season to start because I know now that with another move or two the Sox WILL have a legit shot at the division this year. Bullpen= real solid.....maybe the best in the division Lineup= real good.....not Detroit good but dependable and exciting Starting rotation= 3 ?'s unfortunately this looks like where the season will hinge....maybe KW makes a move here I really like Richar. He may not be ready to bloom right now but I like a second baseman that plays solid D, has some good speed, doesn't "K" a lot, takes some walks and can flat out hit and with power. It excites me that our second baseman could have 60- 70 extra base hits. Probably not this year but hopefully he makes good progress towards that. I think the Sox hold onto Uribe the whole year. Defensively, he is needed insurance for this infield. I would. Plus, they're counting on 2 rookies in the infield. They need him just in case. And, if Cabrera goes down there's nothing. I would be very happy if Pablo Ozuna were not on this team. I would love to see the Sox have a hitter in the 7th hole bang out 40 dingers. Go Fields! I like an outfield with Dye,Owens,Swisher,Quentin and Anderson. I would hold onto all of them for now. I realize that all 5 will not be on the 25 man together. I'm excited to watch Orlando Cabrera. I don't care what anyone says. He's a damn good ballplayer and a damn site better than Uribe's been. I truly believe that the Sox will contend and be over .500 and within 10 games. Maybe, if the starting pitching comes through and they catch a few breaks (Detroit's pitching could collapse) they might sneak by. Atleast I'm excited to watch now.
