Who's going to win it all?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) I don't see anyway UCLA beats LSU outside of both Farmer and Afflalo having good games. In other words, they can't shoot a combined 3/18, as they did against Memphis, and expect to be in the game. LSU is too good. Memphis is a better team then LSU imo. I agree that they're going to have to shoot better but don't expect LSU to put up a lot of points. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Going by the pictures, Tavarez punches like a little pussy. He doesn't even know how to throw a punch judging from that picture. Pretty sad.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) That said, this should be a very dangerous team next year. I'd say they are a pretty dangerous team this year considering they are in the final four. -

QUOTE(kman @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) I'll stick with my opinion and you guys can stick to yours. Cool? That's fine I just want to hear why you have that opinion. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) That's not hard to do at all.... Greasy the comedian.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) Serves you right Just for that, I demand my money be in all 10's and I expect those bills to be new and crisp.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Read too fast. Still, thundersticks suck. Decent chance they pull them out for one of these games i imagine. You made me look bad too by doing that. I didn't even read what steve said, just saw what you said.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) To be 100% honest, I have season tickets for this year, so my view is skewed anyway....

QUOTE(The Human Borch @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I understand this point of view because I'd much rather see the Cell filled up than seeing an ocean of empty seats. All I'm trying to say is I'd rather see loyal fans filling up those seats than people who didn't care about the Chicago White Sox until October of 2005. Ya we all would but no matter who is showing up it brings in more money which brings in more quality players.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Not when they need a massive late run to beat a Gonzaga team that we've been ripping for months, and when they let a Memphis team that barely shot 30% with no 3's hang around for the entire game. They play some pretty good D, but so does LSU, and they've got a much better inside game. Well yes, they played like total s*** for 35 minutes of that zags game and pulled it out, that's a mark of a pretty good team imo. Also LSU obviously has the better inside game but UCLA has the better guards which is also pretty obvious. I can see this game going either way but I'm cheering for LSU cause I win more money if UCLA doesn't win it all. -
I'm ready for the season, I just don't care about the bandwagon. I just can't wait to get the park sunday night, my god it's almost here.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) I picked LSU. I think it's going to be either them or Florida. I don't think UCLA can hang with LSU. Frankly, they were fortunate to get through a very weak bracket. Ha, still not sold on ucla obviously? -

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) There was also UMASS in 1996. They're really not a true mid major though. The a10 isn't a bcs conference but it's kind of in the middle between mid major and power conference. -
Horrible. RIP.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) I posted that to show that it made no sense for you to say that Nelson isn't worth much because he can't get lefties out. Vizcaino couldn't get lefties out either last season. Would you not want Vizcaino right now because he couldn't get lefties out? First off I never said he's not worth much just because he can't get lefties out, that is one of the many reasons. The fact is, I don't think Jeff has anything left, watch him pitch and tell me that frisbee is unhittable like it used to be because it's not, it hangs up there to hit a lot now when before you couldn't touch that pitch. Notice also how Viz almost pitched as many innings against lefties last year as Nelson pitched for the entire year. I just don't think Nelson would help this team, that is all.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Last season, Nelson was pretty good -- 36.2 IP, 3.93 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, .237 BAA. But you trust in Thornton and Logan? Thornton has been terrible in both two seasons of his career and Logan has pitched a grand total of 5.1 innings at Single A. How could you question Nelson's ability but be fine with Thornton and Logan? I can actually show you that Nelson has had good seasons in the recent past. You can't actually show me that either Thornton or Logan have had good seasons to prove that they are better options than Nelson. By the way, here's another reason why it makes no sense to bash Nelson's inability to get lefties out... Luis Vizcaino (2005 stats vs. lefties): 28.0 IP, 1.82 WHIP, .321 BAA We did just fine with Vizcaino even though lefties shellacked him all last season. When did I ever say that I trust either Matt or Boone? I think Nelson is done and I'd rather give the other two the opportunity because they both have some potential while the only potential Nelson has is to get even worse. Now we're throwing viz out there to prove that Nelson is going to be good? Mmmkay.

If Verlander doesn't become a star in this league, I'll be shocked.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) I'll take actual production over the possibility of upside any day of the week. Nelson has had good seasons recently. When exactly? The guy was ok last year and he barely pitched. He sucked in 04 and wasn't very good in 03 either. This isn't the dominate Nelson from his prime seattle days anymore. Just watch him pitch a few innings and you'll see that.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) So you would rather have Matt Thornton, Boone Logan, and/or Javier Lopez in the bullpen than Jeff Nelson? To be honest, I would rather give Thornton and Logan a shot because the last two guys in the pen are not going to be used much and those two have some upside where Nelson has absolutely 0.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:15 AM) Actually, Nelson was good last season. Meanwhile, Thornton can't get anybody out. He walks the world. There are a lot more righty hitters than lefties in the MLB. Why are we carrying a LOOGY like Logan or Lopez then? A guy who can dominate righties has much more value than a guy who can dominate lefties. And I sure hope that Ozzie doesn't play Ozuna at 2B when Iguchi sits considering Cintron is better than Ozuna. The guy pitched a whole 9 innings the 2nd half last year and got beat around in those innings he did pitch. He's old, he was once one of the most dominate relievers in the game but he just doesn't have much left in the tank. As far as him dominating righties, if the game is on the line I'd rather have Neal, Cliff or Bobby in there. Jeff is just breaking down, he's not going to be effective for a whole season and when you watch him pitch you can see that his frisbee just doesn't have the same snap it used to. I really don't think this team needs him.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) Cintron can also play 2B and I would use him there before Ozuna. The only thing that Ozuna provides that Cintron doesn't is his speed. The first guy I would dump is Thornton but he seems to be Cooper's project and is likely here to stay. I'm assuming that Thornton is going to be bad this season (not a bold prediction). Regardless, a good reliever like Nelson would help us win more games than having Ozuna on the bench. Nelson hasn't been very good in a while and yes I know Cintron can play 2nd but like I said I think that is going to be pablos job. What is Nelson going to be our newly found roogy? Nelson hasn't been able to get out lefties for a long, long time now. We don't need him.
