  1. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Even if he's totally healthy and plays close to 162 games (he's only played over 150 once in the past 8 years), I don't think he gets it this year. The 3 years after hitting 73 he put up 46, 45, and 45 homers. That's about tops for what he will get this year. People just aren't going to pitch to him, assuming he's his old self. If he's a little off or has some nagging injury the puts him on the DL for a while (which seems fairly likely), he's down to the 35-40 range, which seems fairly realistic. I find it hard to believe he'd retire without the record. However, I just don't think he does it this year. My thoughts exactly. Even before the 73 homer season he hit over 48 once. Like you said, since then he's done that 0 times, he just won't see enough pitches to do so.
  2. So, I forgot that you have to be 21 to book a hotel(we ran into this problem for soxfest). I'm going to st louis next week and I need to book a hotel but I'm not 21. Krush, want to come to st louis with me and check us in again?
  3. QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Just win Arch Madness!!! That would be nice.

    Spring Break

Last year I went to Tucson. This year since all my friends have different spring breaks I really have no one to go with, so just March Madness stuff.
  6. God damn pittsnogles. Every f***in bubble team needs to lose at this point.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) Well he did sign with the Sox over Texas who offered more money, did he not? Yes, that's a real bad example.
  8. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) In 20 years, the only difference between $10 mil and $14 mil is R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That's it. Maggs thought he was being lowballed and he took the money. I think most of us would do that. His quote is more a slap in the face to the Tigers than it is to the White Sox, cuz, well, the Sox don't care. But, if I could have whispered into Maggs ear, I would've had him say this. It's hard to see ANY team other than your own win the World Series and I'm going to do my damnedest to get the Tigers their own World Series ring. We offered him 12 mill iirc. Whatever, I don't even care about the money, if he would have just left nicely and stfu I'd have no problem with him. He's a jackass and I hope he rots in Detroit.
  9. It really doesnt matter outside the first week. I'd say though that number 2 is the most likely to happen.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Hey, I will be happy if they stay in. I dont mind a lower seed, I think the Salukis are capable of winning a game in the tourney this year. That doesnt mean they will, but I think they can. Every bracket projection has us as one of the last in or one of hte last out, basically we're squarely on the bubble. The problem is, Evansville win or lose is going to drop our rpi. Basically, we have to win 3 in a row to give ourselves a shot, and 4 in a row will get us in for sure.
  11. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:42 AM) As much as it pains me to say this, I could see Kansas beating Texas. Tucker and either Buckman or Aldridge are going to have to guard Rush and Wright. That seems like a recipe for disaster. If Kansas hits their outside shots, it could be interesting. Texas definitely struggles when other teams hit outside shots because they can't match it. That said, Texas should kill that same lineup inside and on the glass. It'll probably come down to who hits outside shots. Gibson and Paulino are pretty streaky, so who knows. JD would be impossible to live with if it actually happens. I can see it going either way to be honest. Those are two very good teams imo.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Hostel was great. I saw it the night it first came out. The eyeball scene got me warm. Eh, I was really not a fan of it at all. A few decent seens but it was a let down imo.
  13. So on Wednesday we get to watch Texas-Kansas State instead of Tennesee-Florida and OSU-MSU.
  14. Ya, IU is done. IU, Iowa State, and SIU can fight it out to win the NIT.
  15. Fair enough Jordan. I think it's pretty silly of us to argue over spring training predictions, so I'll just leave it at that. Agree to disagree and we'll see when the season starts. Hopefully you're right.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Izzy, Rincon, Looper, Thompson and Flores is better than the Cubs' pen. Unless Wood is healthy "I know, we hear this every year" I don't see how you can say they have a better rotation. He won't even be ready until atleast May. Prior is always an injury risk. Maddux is 50, and always sucks in the first half. Zambrano is a stud. Who's their 5th starter anyway? Is it gonna be Williams? The offense isn't even close. Let's not forget they dominated that division without Scott Rolen. Now he's back healthy. I seriously doubt Lee has a year like last year. They have major question marks in lf and ss. Pierre will help them only if he's the Pierre of 2003/2004. Jones is probably a downgrade from Burnitz. As sorry as that is. Looper is a bum, and Rincon is not much anymore. I'd take Dempster, Eyre, Howry, Wuertz and Ohman over that but that's jmo. As far as question marks in the lineups go, the Cards have no 2b or rf. Both of these teams have some holes. I personally think Murton is going to be a very solid player and if I did have to bet, I'd take the cubs as much as that would pain me to do.
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) That would be one losing ass bet. How do you figure the Cubs over the Cards? Card have the better lineup and bullpen. Play much, much better defense. And I'd even give them the edge rotation wise. If only because you know they'll be healthy for the most part. The cubs have a better bullpen at this point, and their rotation is better imo. The cards lineup is better but the cubs will have a pretty damn solid lineup this year now that they have an actual leadoff hitter.
  18. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) But the righty/lefty junk works with Thome batting third, at least with the first four batters... Podsednik (lefty) Uribe / Iguchi (righty) Thome (lefty) Konerko (righty) I'm talking middle of the order. Ozzie has said last year he likes to break them up in the heart of the order. Whatever though, this is really a pointless argument.
  19. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) Even as unconventional as Ozzie is, this was a no-brainer. I disagree. He loves the righty/lefty junk, I'm actually kind of surprised he did it this way. That being said, I'm happy he did, I'm just a big surprised.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/whitesox.asp?id=157840 I still can't believe people thought that Dye would bat 3rd over Thome. Ya, our manager is just so conventional, why would anyone think he would do something different? :rolly
  21. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) They wont beat st. louis and houston, so they wont be top 2 at least Eh, to be honest, if I were betting on that division I'd pick the Cubs.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine This is kind of neat, although I wonder what all of the qualifications have to be to even out a trade(to me it seems like money, and thats about all). I successfully traded Tim Thomas, Othella Harrington, and Ben Gordon for Kevin Garnett. NOW GET MOVING PAXSON! It's just money. I traded Malik and Pike for Lebron.
