  1. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) I was starting to worry I was the only one to think this wouldn't be a crippling move for the Fish. Beckett reminds me of Wood with all these injuries and phantom injuries. That bilster-issue is a serious problem. If you can get either Danks, who is a very highly touted prospect, or Diamond--two, young promising pitchers--in a move to cut salary and obtain Hank's bat, I like the move. Well said, bozley. Here's the thing, if they went through with this in the last two years they would have lost Pavano, Burnett and Beckett. I wouldn't consider either of those 3 aces and they all seem to have injury problems, however when they were in there they were productive. All the sudden they go from having a very solid rotation to having Dontrelle and a bunch of youngins in there. The Marlins are pretty much screwed this season if they go through with that deal...now if they're just trying to rebuild then that's a whole different story.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Rowand's crappy offensive season last year was better than Pierre's career numbers, but if you really think Pierre is better, thats ok. They're different types of players so it's kind of ridiculous to compare their offensive numbers. Just cause you have more power doesn't make you a better offensive player. IMO Juan is a bigger threat and better player offensively then Aaron is. The thing I'm worried about is Juan's defense compared to Aaron's, I want to see Pierre play D before I make a judgement on his defense as I don't recall him playing defense all that much.
  3. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Not hatred, hes not even one of the top 6 Cf's. I just dont sweat his jock. Rowand is good, but far from great as you make him out to be. There are 2 centerfielders that are head and shoulders above everyone else in Jones and Hunter and then Aaron is in the next group with Cameron, Kotsay, Wells, and maybe a few others I'm not thinking of right now.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 06:43 AM) I'm not sure how devestating that 1-2 would be. They each are basically the same type of player, and to hit in the 2 hole for Ozzie, you have to have great bat control and move the runner over, like Iguchi did this year. Can Pierre/Pods actually do that? I know they can get slap singles, but I'm not completely sure they have the best bat control in the world to be that effective at the top of the order. Pierre can definitely bunt, that is one thing I know for sure. If the Sox really want Pierre then it's most likely Ozzie driving that bandwagon since he knows Pierre very well.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) That would be Pierre, since, correct me if I'm wrong, but his contract is up after this year. Scott's is as well.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) For their price, defense, and offensive potential, I would rather Aaron Rowand in the outfield than Juan Pierre for the Sox next year. I don't really understand why the Sox want Pierre so much in the first place, or at least, appear to want him so much. Cause that 1-2 would be devastating on opposing pitchers, and would just cause chaos on the base paths. Like I said though I want to see Juan play cf cause I don't recall whether he's good or not.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 06:37 AM) I love the idea of a 1-2 of Pods and Pierre *Drools*
  8. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 06:34 AM) Ozzie knows all about Pierre. If he thinks adding Pierre [at the expense of Rowand probably, who'd have to be dealt to another team to make room] would make the sox a better team, then a few things would be clear: 1] Pierre's offense [ability to get onbase, steal bases, hit near .300] would help the sox score more runs on a consistent basis 2] Pierre's speed in the OF would take away more hits then his arm will give up 3] Pierre and Pods in the same OF wouldn't weaken the sox overall defense I love Pierre but there really is no where to play him unless like you said Aaron gets dealt for something else. To be honest I don't recall seeing Juan play the outfield very often so I really have no opinion on his defense one way or the other.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Don't worry, we'll trade for him again before the deadline (note how there is no green..) This joke is going to get old very quickly this year, isn't it?
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) That means that Gio, Liotta, Haig, maybe ever BMAC is in their sights for Thome. And I wouldnt do that deal. Meh, they're just trying to get as much as they can, they obviously know they won't get a ton for Thome. We'll see, I like our chances to land Jim for a reasonable price.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) Shame on you. Oooooo, which one of you guys is buying that for me?

    Someone was just blasting this song in the halls. What a fantastic song. :headshake
  13. I think the Cubs just set Wagner's and Ryan's market value through the roof.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Jim Hendry is insane. I don't think it can be said any better.
  15. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) espn is reporting its 2/11.. option not yet finalized. and there is going to be a signing bonus thrown in too cubs using some of their money i guess.. Holy f***.
  16. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Florida has made it clear that they have interest in three players on our Major League Roster... Marte, Contreras, and Rowand. They have? I know those were the trade rumors going around at the deadline, that doesnt mean we have the full story. Unless Pierre gets traded and they dont get a centerfieder in return I don't see why they would have interest in Aaron.
  17. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Rowand to Florida for Delgado if PK leaves ...and why would Florida want Rowand?
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) The stuff we're hearing is 3/11 Ya, I just read that, that's a lot of f***in money for Scott Eyre.
  19. Eyre's a good addition for them but I wonder if they overpaid and by the sounds of it they probably did.
  20. I really didnt mind fenway, didnt like it but didn't think it was awful. For me yankee stadium and especially dodger stadium were much crappier.
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) Haha that's an OOP page. Or an OOTP page but whatever works for you.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Nady will make SD rue the day that they traded him. Mark my words. Meh..I personally don't think Nady becomes much but we'll see.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) 3 RIDICULOUS HEARTBREAKING LOSSES OUT OF 4 ASDFL;KJASDLFKJALSDKJ f*** s*** s***HSIJDALSDJFZ E Good to have you back in these game threads. It sounds like I should be happy I had to miss this one.
  24. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) I've never seen any of them (I know, gasp!)... in the middle of Part I. wow. timeless. guinea. what does everyone think about it? It's weird to see scenes that I've heard about, and Don C. is weird to watch with so many parodies out there. A+ so far. I've never seen any of them either.
  25. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) The Sox should wait out on this trade as long as possible. One Thome has a no-trade clause and will accept a trade to Sox and the more we lead on to the Phils that we won't give in to their demands, the less we have to give up. If Pauly then signs with another team we have no leverage, it would be best to get a trade done for a 1b/dh as soon as possible.
