  1. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) that I was wrong. As usual. Have you ever been right about this team?
  2. I swear, that guy better not touch the playing field.
  3. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Blame the umps all they want, we hopped on them 3-0 again. I wonder what baseball prospectus says the "win percentage" is after that... I bet it's in the 80% I wonder if we're 100 percent to win the division yet according to BP.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) If these calls were going against us, we'd be like Angel fans I'd be pissed there is no doubt. That being said..we're still winning this game if they got all the calls.
  5. Not a pretty at bat by Tad but it happens.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) LOL....didn't say it was over. It's still pretty awesome. I know I know, I'm just a nervous person until these games end.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I'm pretty sure I just heard "Thunderstruck" in the stadium when they came back from the commercial. I got some idiots blasting loud music in my dorm right now so I didn't hear it but I did hear it yesterday during the game.
  8. I'm going to rain on your parade heads. We still got 3 innings to go this game so lets keep it up.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) If we maintain the lead I'd like to see Marte come on in relief. Road game, close but not too close. I would imagine he'd have a short leash too. God no. He'll walk the bases loaded.
  10. Since Joe has been blessed with the powers of the rally crede he thinks he's super fast now too, not the case Joe.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) On the missed catcher's interference call on Steve Finley, Finley hurt his team. Here is how. Catcher's interference is a delayed dead ball situation. It is not an immediate dead ball. If called, the team on offense may elect to take the result of the play instead of the penalty of the catcher's interference. In this situation, as McCarver noted, Finley should have been awarded 1B with the runner on 1B moving to 2B and the runner on 3B staying put since he was not forced home. The bases would have been loaded with one out. Alternately, if Finley hustled down the line rather than looking back he would have been safe at 1B. In that case, the runner from 3B would have scored and the out would have been recorded at 2B for the 2nd out. The Angels COULD have elected to take that play, giving up the out for the run. If they chose the interference call, they would have the bases loaded with one out, but they would be taking a run off the board. No one knows what they would have chosen, but just by hustling Finley could have an RBI and the Angels be down 3-2 at that point and within one run. Since the call is a delayed dead ball, the umpire should have held his arm straigh out with a closed fist indicating the intereference, but allowing the play to continue to it's completion. So there was no reason for Finley to look back. The umpire does not verbalize anything in that situation and the ball is not dead, so Finley's job is to bust his ass down the line. Here is why it is important for him to do so. What happens if Igughi throws the ball into LF, making an error on the play. By rule, if the batter reaches 1B by hit or error AND all other runners move up one base, the interference is ignored and never becomes an issue. So in reality, by Finley trying to be the umpire, he cost his team a run. Yes the call was missed. But if he does his job, the Angels score another run there. This is one of the best posts ever on soxtalk. Great job Rex.
  12. Whatever guys, fathom, lets just enjoy this game and stop the pods argument...agree to disagree. Deal?
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Pods has been quoted many times in the last month saying it's not the injury, it's his timing and confidence. Even when he's getting good jumps he's not getting in there for the most part, trust me a groin injury slows you down big time. Some big leaguers just won't make excuses...so that would explain scott not blaming the injury.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Please stop using the injury excuse for Pods. He's said he's been as healthy as he can be at this point in the season. It's all about confidence, rhythm, and predictability with Pods. The guy had 70 stolen bases last year and got thrown out 12 or 13 times when everyone knew he'd be running, he was stealing everything in the first half when everyone knew he was going, now all the sudden he just can't steal bases anymore?? BULL, a groin injury slows you down so much.
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) I think it's safe to assume the BP is going to get some work tonite Uh oh, they've been overworked this series.
  16. QUOTE(RudyLawRules @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Everytime McCarver or Buck mentions "AJ" or the catcher's interference play....DRINK! ENOUGH ALREADY!!! I mvst noww stp tiping as thees beers r gettinggg to mi. You'd be dead by now if you started right away today.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I can't believe McCarver said that the AJP/Paul played would have definitely been overturned if there was instant replay. He's an idiot.
  18. They won't talk about the game being played for the rest of this series, now it's just all about instant replay and blah blah blah. S.T.F.U.
