  1. This game is so huge, if we can win this one we would have put ourselves in absolutely terrific shape. GO SOX!!!!!!!!
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) So, how will you answer the question we're all sure we'll hear tomorrow: "So, how much did you pay the umpires?" from a Cubs fan. Any suggestions? I was thinking things along the lines of: - the same amount that we paid Bartman to screw you guys in 2003. - the same amount we paid Ronnie Woo Woo to wash our car yesterday - the same amount that we paid the clubhouse attendant to put cork in Sosa's bat - the same amount that Prior and Wood paid for a round of golf yesterday A punch to the face I think is the best way to answer.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) They only ran it on ESPN about 20 times since the end of the game. Well ya, I know that but he's saying that there has been some different replay that clearly shows it hit the ground, I still can see nothign conclusive. I just have the hint that it hit the ground because Paul keep his glove on the dirt for about a second like he's trying to scoop the ball up.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Did you see the zoomed-in frame-by-frame replay? Where'd you see that from?? Just wondering cause I still have not seen it.
  5. I still can't tell either way.
  6. This is why I thought he trapped it. Right when the ball gets near Paul's mit he keeps the mit on the ground for a second or two like he's trying to pick the ball out of the dirt. I haven't seen evidence either way, I'll find out before the night is over though.
  7. Anyone got a picture, I honestly believe it hit the ground as well but I don't have any good proof yet.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) I know this is probably is a very amateurish question, but there's no way that the Angels protested this, is there? It's not going to do anything.
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Wow, Eddings had no clue what to say right there. And half of what he said is basically wrong. You don't rule strike with two different motions. From what it sounds like is that the arm meant no contact and the call meant strike, and he does use that call all game so it's interesting. I still dont know if he caught it. Whoever that head ump guy dude is he seems to think that it hit the ground.
  10. QUOTE(Balance @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) While I agree with you 100%, that situation didn't result in a run for the Angels. That would weaken our "they got some breaks with calls, too" argument on that particular instance. Glad we won, just pointing that out. Um...yes it did.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) You are right, irish. It's not AJ's fault the umpire butchered the call, its just unfortunate that this will tarnish Buehrle's effort. Right now, it's all that is going to be talked about but once game 3 starts this will be forgotten.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) What a ball game. I don't know if that was an out or not (regarding AJ) but I thought the side angle showed dirt get kicked up. The Angle fox kept showing was too hard to see that from. The Fox TV crew was obviously decided on it being an out, but the radio crew was quite different thinking it got some dirt. I can't say for sure, but one angle (the side angle) made it look like it may have hit the dirt. Regardless, Buehrle pitched awesome, Crede came through huge and AJ was heads up going down to 1st. When I saw it in real time I thought it hit the ground then the fox angle made it look like he caught it. That being said Josh turns his glove over and you really get blocked from the view. Once mlb.tv comes up I'm going to watch that over and over again.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Just to shed some light on this from an experienced plate umpire. Regardless of whether or not the ball hit the ground, the umpire ruled 'out.' An arm extended means strike 3, the fist means 'batter is out'. Once he does this, he CANNOT ask for help at all. He's out, regardless of whether the ball hit the dirt or whatever any other umpire says. I'll take it. Sox win. But this is the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. Can't that be a strike call though?
  14. Heart just started beating again. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  15. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) We gotta take this game. We GOTTA take this game. I do not want us going to Cali down 0-2 especially with the way we played out there earlier this season. Splitting?
  16. The vikings just suck at life.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) :headshake Hey, you said it not me.
  18. "sure i will beat you in fantasy willie"
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) The last 4 teams to go to the WS from the AL lost the first game of the ALCS
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) I bought 4 tickets from a broker in section 155, row 21 for tonight. Now...I just upgraded to 3rd row tickets courtesy of a friend of mine. So..... If anyone wants to go to the game tonight...I have 4 tickets in the lower deck I'll sell at face value to whoever wants them. $100 each. PM me and we'll meet up at the game. I paid $150 each but I'm in a giving mood. Yes, I love Soxtalk.... I really wish I was back home in chicago right now, I would have jumped all over these.
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) more like win or die trying... we need to win!!! and DYE needs to get out of the three hole. no power there = no chance. a single is nice, a double ties the game. Huh?? Dye had the 2nd most homers on this team.
  22. Has he switched to picking the angels yet?? Cause then we're in good shape.
  23. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Ok GO FOCKING SOX.....I am done with my ranting.....time to get back on track
  24. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Agreed, or maybe it is just our sorry hitting line up showing they are useless unless they play against the pitching challenged Bo Sox.....oh wait, we did go up against a pitching challenged team If Colon was on the mound....might have been a no hitter tonight with all of those HR swings taken by some of our hitters tonight. That 6th inning where we had 3 outs in 6 pitches (I believe it was Dye, Paulie and Everett), every one of them swinging for the fences was focking atrocious and made me wanna puke because I was sure we were done then because it meant the ANgels BP in the next inning. Honestly, I think it's damn sad that we're still b****ing about this team, THEY'RE IN THE ALCS I think they've proven they can play and it's time to stop ragging on these guys everytime they have a bad game. They played like s*** tonight and we all know that but in baseball especially when you're just coming off of a 3 day break you can be rusty and look out of sorts at times. This team is good, this team is damn good so just watch and cheer for them instead of b****ing evertytime something bad happens. They'll bounce back, I'll guarantee you that but honestly stop with the moaning after every bad game.
