QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) thats kinda scary innit? To be honest..no. I'm so confident right now after todays win. If we can somehow get fridays game I think we would have just put ourselves in such amazing shape. We'd go up 2-1 guaranteeing a trip back to chicago if needed and guaranteeing that with needing 2 wins we'd have Jose and Mark both to go if it came to that. Friday's game would just be so huge for this team to win.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) well apparently you didnt see a replay yet, because it appears as though he didnt go around. That call was very, very close.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) if the rotation stays the same. i think it's all contingent on jon's performance tomorrow There's not really anything we'd be able to do unless it would be to move freddy up a day which I doubt happens. If we go to a game 7 it will be Jon.
-
It's Jose for me still. That being said if we do go to a game 7 in this series it's going to be Jon.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) It would be even longer if we were down 0-2. I'll take it anyway we can get it. The haters can f*** off. If it was there team, they would have no problem with it. Oh no f***in doubt jordan. I hate offdays to begin with but especially in the alcs, I just want to play the game.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) IMO, Rowand and Crede were clearly out. Not by a mile certainly...but Crede's hand wasn't on that base by the time the catch was made. There was one angle that showed this really well. Umps were right on the spot today for those calls at least. Completely agreed.
-
If so. It's about damn time.
-
The only questionable one was Pauly's check swing, the other two were clearly called correctly.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) But we'll have to listen to the controversy on TV for an entire off day, so that'll be fun... Tell me about it. I keep getting im's from people just saying "BULLs***" like 20 times over and again. Whatever, I just want Friday to get here, tomorrow is going to be a long day.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Hey don't ruin our fun We aren't even really debating whether the ball hit the dirt or not, we're debating the umpire's mechanics and throught process throughout the play. Ha, I gotcha Krush. Keep debating, you're not hurting anyone. It's just funny that with all these replays we've got and seen that nobody can be sure whether the ball hit the ground or not. I just can't wait for friday now, time to get back on the field and forget about that play.
-
So basically after all this time we know absolutely nothing and unless we can somehow get a clear view I'm pretty sure that's the way it's going to stay. It was a controversial call but it's so close and Escobar hung his splitty and it got nailed. Like has been said that call didn't cost them a run but Pablo stealing 2nd and Joe nailing the hanger did.
-
Normally I wouldn't care but because I'm so close to st. louis now and the fact that if the sox can play them I'd maybe be able to go to a game or two at busch I'll say the cards.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Give some credit to Anaheim. They're playing their asses off too. They are part of the reason we are not executing. Oh, I'm not taking anything away from them and they're a fantasic team but some of the things could have been done better, scotty not getting down a bunt is inexcusable, Joe's mental screwup last night in the field shouldn't happen(though he's definitely made up for that), Juan basically non chalanting a ball today that Jose Molina hit. The play where it was them just beating us was aarons bunt, they just had chone way in and aaron bunted it right to him and figgins made a solid play. The angels are a tremendous team but our team can definitely play better.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Actually...I'd say this is basically EXACTLY what got us here. Bad defense and not executing?? The pitching has been tremendous all year but we're not going to win this series if we keep making errors and mental mistakes. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining or anything cause I'm loving how we've managed to not play so well and be 1-1 in the series, I'm just saying that we're not playing up to our capabilities yet and when we do, watch out.
-
QUOTE(Wanne @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) For the most part they've played pretty well this series. Now...if we could string together some hits in an inning that'd be nice. Dye is killin me. PK needs to relax. Hell...it's pretty sad when the meat of your order is your 7-8-9. ? We've played like doody so far this series. Mark and Jose have been awesome but the defense hasn't been pretty, we couldn't get a bunt down in game 1 and we haven't been able to get any clutch hits obviously minus Joe. This team definitely isn't doing what has got them here so far but that's okay, the series is 1-1 and I think they'll be ready to go come friday.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) I hope to hell that Escobar catches Washburn's sickness. He threw 39 pitches and I don't want to see him ever again. I told wite before this series started that escobar worried me more then any other pitcher on their staff.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) In this case, a picture is almost worthless. You need to see the zoomed-in frame-by-frame replay that FOX showed. To be honest cause I haven't seen the replay that you have, even though it's really difficult to see, that ball looks on the ground to me.
-
This game is so huge, if we can win this one we would have put ourselves in absolutely terrific shape. GO SOX!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) So, how will you answer the question we're all sure we'll hear tomorrow: "So, how much did you pay the umpires?" from a Cubs fan. Any suggestions? I was thinking things along the lines of: - the same amount that we paid Bartman to screw you guys in 2003. - the same amount we paid Ronnie Woo Woo to wash our car yesterday - the same amount that we paid the clubhouse attendant to put cork in Sosa's bat - the same amount that Prior and Wood paid for a round of golf yesterday A punch to the face I think is the best way to answer.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) They only ran it on ESPN about 20 times since the end of the game. Well ya, I know that but he's saying that there has been some different replay that clearly shows it hit the ground, I still can see nothign conclusive. I just have the hint that it hit the ground because Paul keep his glove on the dirt for about a second like he's trying to scoop the ball up.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Did you see the zoomed-in frame-by-frame replay? Where'd you see that from?? Just wondering cause I still have not seen it.
-
I still can't tell either way.
-
This is why I thought he trapped it. Right when the ball gets near Paul's mit he keeps the mit on the ground for a second or two like he's trying to pick the ball out of the dirt. I haven't seen evidence either way, I'll find out before the night is over though.
-
Anyone got a picture, I honestly believe it hit the ground as well but I don't have any good proof yet.
