QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) With Sanders and Mabry running though... Doesn't matter, they got him out by less then half a step, if bruntlett doesnt turn it so fast then no chance.

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) I thought it was a pretty standard double play, not as spectacular as Fox is trying to convince us it was. That was pretty f***in good when the 2nd baseman has to go to his left like that and fire it over there, that's damn hard. Bruntlett turned it so f***in fast.

LMAO. Controversy.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) If any of you were watching the Astros/Cardinals game, homeplate umpire Phil Cuzzi called a noticeably inside pitch a strike on Jim Edmons. Instead of ball four--first and second two out, the count was run full. Edmonds complained and Cuzzi proceded to eject him with a 3-2 count remaining. His replacement ended the inning on a long drive to CF for an out. How did FOX react to this situation? Well, after the announcers criticized the umpire for removing Edmonds and calling an inside pitch a strike, they MOVED ON the following inning. No talks about controversy, and no zapruder-esque fascination with the play. After enduring the crap Buck and McCarver have put us through, FOX upheld it's integrity. I enjoy listening to Brennamen or however the hell u spell it, I really do. What you're speaking of he gave both sides to the story and just handled the situation nicely and didn't talk about it for days. Props to him.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) it doesnt really matter if the cards game runs late or not. they would probably just throw the beginning of the other game on FX in regions that would not normally show the sox game, and move the cards to FX/Fox Sports... and vice versa in Cards regions. Which is a problem for those of us who dont have fx.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Any chance that the game gets postponed tonight? Might be some rain but doesn't look to bad atleast I don't think so. Someone who can actually read the radar well might say different.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I don't think people know that Konerko is only 29, mainly because he runs like a 40 year old. No way in hell does he only have 2 years left in him, he's settleing into his prime right now. And when did the White Sox become "Bad Boys"? I guess cause we have aj we're bad boys now?

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) I think the Cubs have an outstanding chance of getting Giles and Furcal. They're going to have a lot of money free to spend, and they already have most of the expensive positions set. Furcal has long been rumored to be the main priority for the Cubs, and I know they've been interested in Giles for a while. The one thing I remember about Giles is that he didn't want to play in the Midwest when he was rumored to be traded by the Pirates. I'll guarantee you that they don't land both, they definitely have a good shot at Furcal but Giles will remain in San Diego or go to St. Louis IMO.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Actually, I think the predictions seem to be pretty solid. You know there is absolutely no chance that the cubs land Giles and Furcal, NO WAY. I think Damon ends up with the skanks, I'm hoping he's right about Pauly though. EDIT: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, didn't even notice the Brown prediction.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Uhh, being average isn't bad, especially when you're making the league minimum. Shoppach is still a decent prospect -- .847 OPS last year at Pawtucket. And Youkilis will probably start for Boston next year. He had a .451 OBP for Pawtucket last year, and has had an OBP above .400 for most of his minor league career. Point being, it's hard to see them give up all this for a guy who probably would have pitched 20 or less innings for Boston down the stretch. But, thanks for your "insight". You definitely make a good point but remember the Red Sox had one of the worst bullpens in baseball and from what I heard Wagner is one guy they were willing to give up the world for. Meh, pointless argument anyways because we'll never know.

I think whoever wrote this article basically looked at the rumors that were floating around cause this was one of 'em. I think most of us at the time shook it off as probably not being true. EDIT: Nevermind, that isn't a new article, that was just the rumor floating around at the time.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I hope the bears draft Jason Avant. He would give them a great core of receivers. Assuming the bears don't draft in the top 10 he would be a good late round pick or early 2nd round pick. I know he is from Michigan but please don't compare him to David Terrell. They couldn't be more different. Avant is a leader and has the best hands in College Football. Almost everything that is thrown to him he catches. Also this O-Line that we have right now makes me want to puke. Also please get a real tight end. This has no bias involved does it?

QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) I love this team and if your not confident about paul being on the losing end of tomorrow, then you need to check your sack down there. Byrd isn't gonna get away with the s*** he throws 2 games in this series. Our hitters have to be too confident and are gonna be FOCUSED tomorrow so they can come home to the airport with... I'd say 10,000 lunatics there to greet them. soooo How does everybody A: Feel about the outcome tomorrow (confident, nervous) and B: How does Byrd and Count fare tomorrow And if you want. Will we use more than 1 reliever tomorrow. sorry but another CG just isn't gonna happen, although the angels lineup reminds me of ours during our slump times late this year. My guess. sox 6 angels 5, count screws up a little around the 6th, our relievers come in and make a mistake or 2 but nail the coffin lid shut down the stretch Just so everyone realizes Byrd is a good pitcher, seems like people think he sucks..well he doesn't. Anyways, as I've been throughout the post season and this season, I'm very confident in our guys but I'm also nervous because that's just how I am. Anyways, GO SOX!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) During Konerko's at bat in the 1st, immediately after his check swing and near strike out, I noticed him say something to umpire. I didn't put it together at first, but after the inning it dawned on me ... Paulie told the umpire that Santana's shirt tail was hanging out. He got Santana out of what little rythem he had. Next pitch .... BOOM! I went back on my DVR and watched the AB again just to verify what I thought had happened. You can first notice the shirt tail out as Santana made his second pitch to Konerko. I don't know if Paulie picked his spot or happened to notice just before he said something to ump. The point is that he said something and then got a cookie from Santana on the next pitch. Good point, rattle and get a young pitcher out of his rythem in anyway possible, good gamesmanship by paul, oh yeah and nice hit.

Lets finish this thing. Jose do your thing and I got a feeling this time our hitters might be able to get to Byrd if they have the same approach at the plate that they've had the past two games. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!! LETS WIN THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Normally I wouldn't care but because I'm so close to st. louis now and the fact that if the sox can play them I'd maybe be able to go to a game or two at busch I'll say the cards. Since I whiffed on the cards tix, I could really care less.

I'm so excited yet for some reason my optimism is still very guarded. Lets wrap this thing up tomorrow Jose. :headbang

QUOTE(LDF @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) hell i should throw in my 2 cents worth. resign pk sign - fucral young ss, make uribe trade bait. sign - b j ryan (you could never have enuf pitching esp from rp. if bj doesn't sign go after farnsworth. sign aj burnett if the price is right. ok, i am not too sure on of'ers on if we really need one. trade or bye bye viz, marte, cotts, adkins, timo, and/or cliff. i am really not too sure what to do with big frank AJ Burnett wouldn't even be able to make our starting rotation next year.
