  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) I wonder if Manny & Carl are friends. WSox winning 1-0 right now. With Frank out if not Manny then Griffey. I don't want Soriano. He is not an Ozzie type player. I can't believe Boston would trade the WS MVP for a struggling Huff. They must really hate Manny or Tampa has an ex used car salesman working the trade wire. I doubt this trade happens but just for the record Huff ain't struggling anymore.
  2. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) uribe making a tough play look easy. man, his D is underrated Agreed and agreed.
  3. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) I think it was a sac fly I stepped out of the room It was.
  4. QUOTE(palesox38 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Jayson Stark was on Sportscenter a little while ago and said as of now, the Sox are involved in just about every major trade. I wonder what this means...Griffey?Wagner?Huff? I guess we will have to wait and see. Did anyone else see this? Do you mean espnnews? Cause I was just watching sc and Stark wasn't on there.
  5. By the way, I highly doubt this trade gets completed, to much can go wrong for this big of a deal to happen a few days before the deadline, jmo.
  6. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) We'll c. Because if you listened to SC they said manny was goin to the Mets and Baez and Huff to the Red Sox. Nah, they said Manny and Baez to the mets.
  7. Well earned, well deserved promotion. Good luck to Ray in Winston Salem
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Any lineups? Nothing in Reifert's blog. Usually mlb.com or yahoosports gets 'em up like 40 minutes or so before game time.
  9. QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) 's ok, I still wub you guys In a manly, heterosexual kind of way, of course. Of course. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I knew that. Obviously Rowand doesn't though. This is your fault, I saw him quote you on Manny and I got confused. Asshole
  11. QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) wtf is with you people? You see I was quoting him talking about GRIFFEY right? Holy crap, that's my bad Adam. I apologize, for some reason I thought I was in the Manny thread. Sorry for jumping at you, I'm a f***in idiot.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) NO!, steroids + Coors = a very good hitter. He has a nice big juicy contract too. Huffenmeister, Overbay. I don't think Helton's on roids but he has said he uses creatine which I'm sure in a few years will be banned from baseball.
  13. QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Are you serious? They'd probably take Rowand for him straight up just so they can get that contract off the books. It wouldnt surprise me if they put him on waivers after the season. Are you serious??? In the middle of a playoff race they're going to trade Manny for Aaron, not a f***in chance. Manny's not going anywhere this year cause a playoff contender isn't going to give up there whole team to acquire Manny. In the offseason there's definitely a chance he could be traded though.
  14. Brandon's the last prospect I want to trade but if we could land Huff or Overbay or Wagner, basically anyone who could put the sox over the top I would trade Brandon for.
  15. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) My list 1) griffey 2) wagner Not gonna get either, sorry.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Well... in 7 ABs with a man on third (less than 2 outs), Thomas had .429 AVG, a .364 OBP, and a 1.650 OPS. With 11 RBI's. So... I don't know if this page is wrong, or if we're just remembering the times he failed, or what... In 25 ABs with RISP, he had a .240/.353/.560 line. This is the page I'm looking at, BTW. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...tting&year=2005 You're going to be extremely hard pressed to convince me that a guy with a .905 OPS 'isn't very good'... Then I apologize for not doing my research. Like i said though, he started off fine and just was getting worse and worse, I just don't think he played that well his time here but trust me I'm not trying to convince you of anything cause I know I'm not going to change your opinion.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I agree. I also believe that the Sox scored about a run-per-game more with Frank in the lineup. Not to mention extending the lead to ten (plus) games. I think we all agree that we can't rely on Carl to be the dh, correct?? I just think we differ in opinion on how good Frank was. He started off fine imo but just kept getting worse and worse. To many k's in big situations when we needed to get a runner in from 3rd with less then 2 outs. Frank just wasn't that good imo no matter what his ops was.
  18. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Look, the fact is Frank at his worst this year, was better than Carl's average play this year. If Carl were tp play like he did 5 years ago, he'd be a good DH. However a .250 average and .750 OPS are pathetic from one of the "strong" bats in the lineup. Carl can't take pitches and he's not a "clutch" player, so the Sox need a better DH. Carl's the best clutch hitter we've had all year.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I really don't give a s*** what stat you throw out there from Baseball Prospectus, I've watched every Sox game this season and I've seen a Frank Thomas that hits a HR, K's or walks and when he walks he's not necessarily helping things seeing how he's laboring around the bases. I saw him on numerous occations have Pods on 3rd with 1 out and fail to bring him in. He was horrible at the small things. Sure he'd hit a HR after striking out in his first 2 ABs and then go ahead and pop out in his final AB and that was great, gotta love his HRs. But Frank was not contributing the way that this team needed him to. When he first got back for like the first 2 weeks, he did contribute and helped us build up a giant lead in the division but he fell off. I don't care what stats you wanna throw at me, I know what I saw. EDIT: I'm not confortable with Everett as teh everday DH either, a move for a guy like Huff is necessary.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) No one is untouchable to me anymore. The only one I'd consider untouchable is Jenks because he's already producing for the Sox besides that no prospect is untouchable in my mind. Closest thing to untouchable for me is Bmac.
  21. I feel bad for Frank but he has been pretty bad this year and I think for now we're better with Carl as the dh. However, Kenny you got some work to do. I liked having Carl off the bench and being able to fill in when needed, that just made this team so deep.
