  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) On tonight's game on ESPN, they said Texas is trying to lock up Texiera long term and if they can't do so, they might put him on the market because they Gonzalez waiting in the wings. Timo for Teixiera, take it or leave it Texas. Honestly though, Texas won't trade Tex right now but in the offseason if they still can't lock him up I'd hope Kenny would jump all over it. Have you guys heard what the Rangers want for Alf?? It's nuts.
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) I think the key quote is "The Giants had Ted Uhlaender, one of their top talent evaluators Bingo, that means the interest is mutual.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) Zito and Harden will be fresh. Zito's thrown over 200 innings the past 4 years and will do it again this year, barring injury. Harden just eclipsed 90 innings in his last start. And Blanton will probably be "fresh" enough for most of September, having only thrown 109.2 innings up to this point. Haren could be, and Saarloos has already thrown more innings this year then any year in his career. And how much would that matter if they have a 5-7 game lead in the Wild Card? The Twins have found no spark whatsoever, and both Baltimore and New York's pitching staffs have been very inconsistent or even flat out bad this year. Remember how you agreed with me in April(or May) that the Sox and the Twins were the two best teams in the A.L., just making sure.

    QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) If Dave Littlefield has proven one thing over the past however many years he has been the GM of the Pirates, it's that he does not make the right moves. One of his lone good moments was the Ritchie trade. And then he redeemed himself for that deal by essentially giving the Sox Marte(given, Seattle had also given up on Marte, but why deal an arm like Marte when you are rebuilding anyways? Just doesn't make sense to me in hindsight) That organization's fascination with McClendon and Littlefield is beyond me. I'm a fan of Mcclendon. Anyways as far as the Tigers go if they add another starting pitcher in the offseason and find some consistancy in their bats then they're going to be pretty good, pretty soon. For whatever reason they have a lot of guys in their lineup who are putting up good individual seasons but they don't score a lot of runs. They're close imo but they're atleast a year away from making a serious run at the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE(palesox38 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) They probably are waiting for a lefty, I've heard Billy Wagner, Eddie Guardado, Scott Eyre, and Ron Villone. I truely believe Kenny won't let Marte go with out another lefty lined up. Wagner or Guardado would obviously be awesome but I'm not sure if you'll see either of them dealt although these things change daily. I personally love the idea of acquiring Eyre, with the way Ozzie loves playing the matchup game and with how good Eyre is against lefties I think he'd be an absolute perfect fit.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Oh boy, Chris Young mentioned, that's not going to please a lot of people. I'd love Eyre, if we need another LHP, but I don't want to give up a Young or B-Mac for him. I highly doubt Young or Bmac would be included in a deal for Eyre. Schimdt though is an entirely different story.
  7. If that Burnett deal goes through with Damaso and bmac, I guarantee the Sox have Eyre or another lefty reliever(I just saw some article today that mentioned afeldt) lined up. Hell, Burnett and Eyre would make this pitching amazing to be quite honest with you guys. Getting to Schimdt as you guys know I still felt like he had plently left in the tank when he got killed by Arizona I believe. Every outing he's getting stronger and if I had my way he'd be the starting pitcher to get if possible. Should be an interesting 6 days, all I know is I really want to the 31st to get here all these rumors are making me crazy.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) One thing about Kenny is you know he's always looking. If something makes sense he'll pull the trigger but he's not going to dismantle the 25 man roster of the best team in baseball, just doesn't make any sense. Thought I'd bump this. Per Bruce Levine, Kenny and 3 other scouts were in attendance at wrigley today to watch Schmidt pitch. I didn't watch the game but by numbers he was quite impressive. EDIT: I have no clue why I quoted my old post.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Ive learned to live with the Eat s*** because of Nuke and all his awesomeness.... but using the word Jew the way you did is wrong and unnacceptable and shouldnt ever be used. Im not even jewish and i find that completely wrong.. you lost a lot of respect. He didn't mean anything by it. Jew a lot of times is slang for "you" online. I'm part jewish and I could care less. Doesn't mean anything, doesn't matter.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) thanks for your input, but these are innings that Damaso could have used to get back in the strike zone. He usually warms up at least in this situation. But we bring on our long reliever???? hmmmmmm Ozzie put in the mop up man for a mop up situation but you're right, sounds suspicious to me as well.......
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) I said it before the game. If we dont see Marte in the later innings, even warming up, the deal is going through. Doubt that.
  12. Aj and Juan have really, really looked good the past few games, if they're starting to get themselves locked in to what they can do. Watch out.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) I'm not worried about that. Look -- if this team can't put a little bulls*** "curse" -- or, excuse, is what I should say -- behind them, and beat Oakland -- then they don't deserve a shot at the ALCS. I'm with you on that. I'd prefer to play anyone else in the al but we can beat oakland in the playoffs, different game. That being said, I'm going to win my bet anyways, no need to worry.
  14. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) If they get wild card that will be our 1st round match up correct? At this point and time, yes.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) I can live with Jenks' growing pains. Bingo that's what I said before on that night where people exploded on Contreras. Bobby's still going to have some growing pains and we're going to have to live with them. That's the beauty of it though, bring him in during games like this and let him work stuff out at the major league level. Much better giving jenks those two innings to develop instead of giving shingo them. Once Bobby harnasses everything he's going to be special.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Jenks seems like he gives up his fair share of hits which seems strange for a guy with his stuff. Granted, he gotten out of most every jam but one. That ball was hit hard but so far he's had a lot of soft junk hit off him as well.
  17. Man, it'd be so huge if Juan can get it going.
  18. This is the first time we've seen Bobby pitch where he's out of the stretch no matter what, just a little side note there. He's really been getting ahead of hitters as of late, if he does that consistantly he's gonna be nasty.
  19. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) damnit i bet iguchi would of had that Nope.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Sweeney 1b. Hit it right off the end of the bat.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Kong infield hit. Heh. 1st and 2nd. AJ is up. Wasn't an infield hit.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) How about Mike Sweeney? I love that idea but it sounds like KC wants to hang onto sweeney.
  23. The offense is relentless tonight. Good to see.
  24. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) 9 runs sh K!! ould be enough for any pitcher to hold up against.
