White Sox vs. Red Sox 7/23 Game Thread
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Duque finally had himself an easy inning!!! Lightning has struck! His stuff the last two games has been much better then earlier in the season. He has to get ahead of Boston's hitters and not hang his breaking ball and he'll be fine.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Paging A.J. Burnett, your plane is boarding for Chicago. El-Duque gives up to many runs, you can't trust him. b****ing already, that didn't take long.

Tommy Nicholson back?
IIRC he has the same bday as me, so that should be worth something.

Twins or A's?
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) To get back to the topic at hand...Rowand and I have a friendly bet...so I have to stick with the A's. The offense is clicking, the rotation is very solid 1-5, and the bullpen is pitching together as a unit. They could make some minor tweaks if necessary, but I'm not sure those are necessary. They are probably the favorites to win the Wild Card right now. :sleep

Derrek Lee and the Triple Crown.
I don't think he can. He's obviously having a tremendous season I just don't see him staying ahead of Pujols in homers and rbi's.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) Bug bite still keeping Jermaine out. I wonder if Dye will grow four more legs, start puking on food to digest it, and date Kirsten Dunst. Only time will tell...

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Than why was it reported not 2 long ago that everyone on the pirates is up for trade basicly except Jack Wilson and I think Zach Duke. Explain to me why the Pirates would trade a guy who was an absolute stud for them last year, is young and cheap. To steal a line from qwerty if the Pirates trade Oliver this season I'll eat my shoe.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Obviously BMac. The Buccos would want Brian Anderson to replace the OF's they trade away. I dont know exactly what.. but hte asking price for Oliver is way higher than Odalis. There is no asking price for Oliver because he's not being traded.

Randa to the Padres
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Don't matter, 2 prospects for Randa is pretty high. One of them has to be at least a mid level guy. If the prospects aren't 2 top guys then no, it's really not that high a price.

Randa to the Padres
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Padres have looked like crap lately. I don't see how getting Ponson will help them. Randa vs Nevin isn't exactly a big offensive upgrade. They're 3 games over and have a 3.5 game lead in their division, how sad is that?
-
Ponson for Nevin
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) I'm 99% sure that Kenny won't move Marte. That's way too much shuffling, trading Marte + B-Mac for Burnett. Contreras + Sweeney for Burnett, OTOH... :thinking I'll say I'm 99 percent sure he won't move Damaso without having another trade lined up for a left handed reliever.

Randa to the Padres
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) I'm going to pat myself on the back and say I told ya'll. I said that the Padres were looking at him and probably would get him within the past week, but everyone overlooked my post about it. I thought everyone knew the Pads were the frontrunners for Randa.
-
Ponson for Nevin
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Not when they have nobody else to pitch. Sure it's good if they make another move soon, but it looks bad as it is now. At this point they're much better off giving anyone a shot, give a youngin a shot to win the job. Ponson is absolutely horrendous, just cause he's older doesn't mean he's any better then a spect. The Orioles shedded a horrible contract and a horrible pitcher, this was a no brainer for them.

Ponson for Nevin
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Looks like the chips are starting to fall. Wonder if KW is going to jump on board. Tony, I really believe we just won the Burnett sweepstakes. Kenny's probably just going to wait it out until Florida comes to his terms.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) Padres just traded for Randa. Gave up 2 minor leaguers. And the deals start flying.......

Ponson for Nevin
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) forget the Arm Problem and go after a real pitcher. The irony of this post is that both Perez's have spent time on the dl this year. Oh yeah, Oliver isn't going anywhere, people got to get that out of their heads.
