  1. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) when you have the best record in baseball, and you lose a series to a sub-.500 team at home, yeah, it's a bad loss um....last time I checked we have 27 outs left. But you're right series over, season over.
  2. Strike 'em out, throw 'em out. Now Freddy settles down and gets us a W.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) I find it hard to believe that we can't package up all our dead weight for ONE arm. Borch, Shingo, Diaz, Willie, Walker can't get you an arm?? What's our plan for these guys anyway? Not a good arm.
  4. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) any recap would be appreciated. He sounded very mature, talked to fast though. Basically talked about how he now has confidence pitching in the majors, yesterday it was big for him to get into that jam and be able to get out of it. Was asked if he's been approached about closing and if he's itching to close in the bigs. Says at this time the bullpen has been very good and he doesn't care about closing right now, just wants to pitch. Uhh, that's basically about it,it was a pretty short interview but it was nice to hear him, he seems much more grown up then when he was with the Angels organization.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I think another problem with the White Sox making a deadline deal is I don't think what's in the Sox farm system is highly coveted. There are players there who have a chance at becoming good major leaguers, but there is nothing close to a "can't miss" prospect. But for the most part at this time those "can't miss" spects won't be moved, unless of course you're the Mets who trade Scott Kazmir but for the most part you'll see those guys held onto.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Looks like a nice line of storms is heading in. Wonder if there will be a delay... Oh, didn't know exactly what you meant. The sod father said the game will start on time but their is a front that could cause a delay later on.
  7. This game's officially sold out. I assume all the Bosox games will be sold out as well, so 6 of 7 on this homestand will be soldout, that's pretty damn good.
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Rain Suckas. ?
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Actually its disgusting how much people overate Paulie.... he could be hitting .220 but when he bats all the fans chant Paulie like he is a god...... As much as Pauly has frusterated me this season, I'll always chant his name when he's up at the plate because I want him to succeed as I do with every player on the team.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) he's about to poop a 10K diamond. That can't be good.
  11. There's plenty in the farm to trade it's just whether or not it's worth it. There isn't a whole lot of weaknesses on this team and there is no reason to overpay for anything when you're the best team in baseball and have a great team assembled as is.
  12. Just a heads up for anyone who wants to hear the interview, Jenks will be on with Carmen and Silvy after this break.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I think the guys we have are very capable of situational hitting outside of Uribe. He is way to impatient at times. Last night he got the job done with the ground out. But he swung at the first pitch that came near the plate. He got lucky that they were playing back on that one. They need to work counts better, take a few more walks, and put the ball in play without a long arch on it. We all love home runs just as much as anyone, but the home runs dont come all the time in the playoffs. We are a small ball team with some power. We need to maximize OBP and maximize our chances with men on. Too many times this year we have men on in scoring position with no outs only to get none out of the inning. Usually its a big strikeout that starts the bailout of the other team. Crede has been hitting better lately. AJ needs to go back to what he was when he was with the twins and that was an all fields hitter. He has been pulling the ball too much lately. This of course is why he has his career high in homers already in mid July. Konerko has $$$ on his mind, so he is hopeless on the pull for homer theory. Carl and Thomas will be fine. Dye has been hitting better. Arow needs to go to right more. Uribe wont change. Maybe if we could play Ozuna more. Uribe plays better when his starting job is up for grabs. Good post. To be honest I don't think Juan knows what the hell he's doing when he's batting, I think he just swings but who knows. As far as AJ I completely agree he's pulling the ball to much but he'll be fine I'm fairly confident in saying that. As has been said already in this thread Carl's been our best clutch hitter by far. Scotty and Gooch have been awesome, no worries about them. Aaron's getting there but he still has problems laying off a good breaking ball from a righty. Like you said Dye's been much better and what we see from Joe is what we're going to get and to be honest that doesn't bother me. Overall, I think the offense has been fine and has been extremely clutch when needed, meaning late innings in close games but they could be better with the overall talent they have.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) I'm updating my sig again today. You better
  15. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Yeah... the fact that he was only mediocore before joining the same team with Bonds and Balco is just a coincidence right... After an already long major league career he suddenly just found all this talent... Yeah right keep dreaming.... Ohh and also Benito Santiago, Marvin Benard... think of all the players the Giants had in the same time frame that have used... sorry but I perfer to live in the real world... I will once again say the same thing I said from day one... I would love to get Jason Schmidt on this team if the price is right... BUT NO WAY IN HELL IS HE WORTH MORE THEN A MID LEVEL PROSPECT, MAYBE A HIGH PROSPECT!, but you sure don't weaken your starting staff to get him... He is insurance for El Duque, so we trade Jose for him and that leaves us what if El Duque gets hurt... I mean think about it... I would even be ok with a BMAC for Schmidt deal, but no way on earth would I weaken our major league team to get him... Once again, have you watched Schmidt pitch this year? EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I don't want to trade Jose either, you're just acting totally clueless to Schmidt's pitching ability from past years and this year.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) If Freddy can get out of the 1st two innings, I expect a White Sox winner. I would like to see a stat on alll of Garcias starts, and the amount of runs he gives up in the 1st 3 innings. I'm sure someone else can find more in depth stats but here's a start: First 3 innings batters are hitting .255 of Freddy(.293 in the first inning). Innings 4-6 batters are hitting .231 off him. Innings 7-9 batters are hitting .229 off him.
  17. I don't have a stat but I'd be willing to bet that his era would be in the 2's minus the first 2 innings.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I think Jeckle just turned into Hyde.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Yes, but can we put up a 3 spot against the 7th inning reliever of the Angels like we do to the Royals' guy? That, my friend, is what I'm worried about. I understand that but we've beaten up some very good bullpens this year, Angels included. I know they didn't have krod when we played them but Scot Shields is no slouch.
  20. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) I just hate the thought of giving up anything of value for a steriod fueled has been.... First off there is no reason to think he was on steroids except for the fact that he's on the same team as Bonds which is a stupid reason. Second, he's starting to get his consistancy back, you could tell he still has very good stuff when you watch him pitch which I assume you haven't done. The more and more he continues to pitch the better he's going to get as this year goes on.
  21. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) Jason Schmidt is crap outside of a Giants uniform and always has been.... HE IS NO LONGER ON STEROIDS HE'S NOT AN ACE! THE FACT IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE AN ERA WELL OVER 6 IN THE CELL... But Felix Diaz will thank you when he's back on the team because either he or El Duque is injured... Man i'm sick of you bandwagon fans who don't follow baseball who bring up stupid trade ideas just because the guys name is famous... NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORSE HE IS THEN ANYTHING WE HAVE... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO JUST IGNORE IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF, SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! JASON SCHMIDT IS OVER, AND IF IT WASN'T FOR BEING INTRODUCED TO BERRY BONDS AND BALCO HE NEVER WOULD OF BEEN! PLEASE GET A FREAKIN' CLUE! :headshake :headshake :headshake :headshake :headshake
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) We have scored a ton of runs for years. It doesnt make our offense consistent. The offense has been much more consistant then people give them credit for. I think people get the feeling that they've been inconsistant because they don't score a ton of runs at the beginning of games and everyone here starts freaking out in the game threads. Next thing you know they put a 3 spot up in the 7th inning.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) But Maggs seems OK after missing almost the exact same amount of time... Good point. Maggs also probably has a lot less pressure on him at this time. Still, I think Frank's going to be fine.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) Frank is feeling for the strikezone right now. When you see those excuse me check swing slap hits to the right side, or him backing off like crazy from an inside pitch like it was near his head, he is reaching. He has done this before, its a minor thing that needs to get fixed. When he stands statuesque in the box and doesnt move at all, then he is dangerous. This team has a few months to get better at situational hitting. On 2-0 you should have a zone locked in that you are taking a hard swing at. Some of those 2-0 swings were on low outside pitches. On 2-0 they should be looking center in. If its low and away take it. The count is still in your favor. On 0-2 they need to take a clue from the A's and shorten their swing up a bit and put the ball in play. We have been great this year in making things happen, if you put the ball in play you have a better chance than if you K. Whatever the A's are doing we're doing better considering we've scored more runs then them.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I just went and looked it up, I didn't realize how bad he has been. The last week 2-19 .105 ba .190 obp .316 slg .590 ops 2bb 7k For the season the clutch numbers are just as bad .240 risp .125 risp 2 out .176 close and late .214 runners on .083 runners on 2 out .429 runner on 3rd He's just lost up there right now. That's to be a bit expected after being out of baseball for a while, however this is a good time to get Carl some ab's while Frank is in a rut. Frank's going to be fine, I have no doubt about that but it's going to take some time.
