We Need Billy Wagner
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) The thing is, Wagner hasn't exaclty been lights out as a closer this season, plus he's out of contract at the end of the season, and he's said he could even retire. A lot of question marks to consider if someone's going to trade for him. 2.13 era, 20 for 22 in save opps, he's been pretty dominate and he's just so damn good. I agree with your other points though, there are things to consider but if you can get Billy Wagner you have to do it, he's just to good to pass up imo, if he's available of course.

We Need Billy Wagner
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) Is it just me, or would people prefer to trade for a lefty LOOGY or a good setup guy, before giving up a lot more for a closer like Billy Wagner? I'd take Wags. He's just such a dominate closer but I understand what you're sayingl. By the way we don't NEED Billy Wagner though I'd love to have him.

A reminder
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) I don't know why, maybe it's habit, but I still look at the Twins score every night. As do I, it's a nice comfortable lead at this moment but until that magic number hits 0 nothing is done, I want that lead to continue to grow and grow and then grow some more.

Jeff Weaver
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) He sure didn't handle pitching in NY very well. Weaver's a headcase(duh) honestly I'm shocked he never turned out to be a very good pitcher, I know I for sure thought he was going to be a special pitcher, he just didn't have it all together upstairs.

THE WAVE
QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I don't do the wave but I don't see why everyone hates it so much. It's actually a pretty cool thing to see a bunch of organisms working in conjunction with each other to make a "wave" move across the stadium. Everyone hates it because you're trying to watch the game and people are jumping up in front of you.

Indians trade Gerut...
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Can someone who thinks that this is such a lopsided deal for Hendry and the Cubs tell me why exactly...? I could see one thinking it being in favor of the Cubs, but by no means is it a 'steal'. I wouldn't call it lopsided I just personally think highly of Gerut and not so highly of Dubois, that's just based on watching them play not minor league numbers.

Jeff Weaver
Weaver and the Sox don't have the best relationship I doubt he comes here. Interestingly enough Gammons mentioned if someone would take Odalis's contract he'd be available, if Odalis is healthy his contract is very fair, Kenny should look into that.

THE WAVE
I hate the f***in wave. EDIT: The wave should honestly be banned from baseball games, it's annoying as hell when you're trying to watch the game and idiots in front of you are doing the damn wave.

Shingo Takatsu
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) I'm sorry but the Sox should pray that Shingo clears waivers. This was such a f***ing stupid move. WTF! HE HAD A BAD GAME AGAINST A TEAM THAT OWNS HIM! He had been improving steadily. Jenks is not an upgrade over Shingo no matter how much you want to thinks so. Ok, Ok, we got it.

Indians trade Gerut...
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Shouldn't we be happy that the Indians (the team in our division) got the worst of the trade rather than the Cubs (in the other league). It's like Prior ending up on the Cubs instead of the Twins in the draft. We should be glad that we don't have to face Prior in a Twins uni. Honestly, I don't think Dubois is going to help the Indians down the road and Gerut for whatever reason had a great rookie year, had a tough sophomore year and hasn't been given a shot again.

Crede
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) For anyone who went to the game tonight... please, talk about Joe. I was there, and I just want others to not think that I'm overreacting. He was awesome tonight -- awesome. And I'm not even talking about what he did at the plate. He had some real tough in-between bounces, and he made 'em look easy. On the DP he turned with Iguchi, that ball was a rocket, and again -- made it look like a piece of cake. I was so impressed by Joe tonight... He makes very tough plays look routine all the time. He's an awesome 3rd baseman, period.

GAME THREAD 7-18-2005 vs. Detroit
QUOTE(Wolverine31 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) And Alan Trammell shows why he's the worst manager in the major leagues tonight. Who the heck leaves a reliever in to give up 3 homers in 1/3 of an inning when you are up three runs. I wouldn't want this clown managing my little league team. He's the reason why this team loses so many games they easily could have won.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Am I dreaming? You're dreaming because we're 33 games over .500 not 32.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) I didn't read the whole thread, anyone know why Politte closed tonight? Dustin's back has been bothering him so Ozzie probably just gave him the day off.

El Duque
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) If he hits them that hard off the end of the bat, he's going to be a 50 home run guy some day. Is that what the replay showed? I was sitting a couple rows from the Tiger on deck circle and as soon as he hit it everyone around me knew it was gone. Ahh, yeah he actually didn't hit it flush, it wasn't a great pitch by the Duke cause it was up and over the plate but he didn't get the sweet spot of the bat on it.

El Duque
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Just got back. El Duque was better than he was when he went on the DL, he actually fooled a couple of guys, but he is not at a point where he can be relied on. They hit some ropes off him, including an Inge bomb the very first pitch of the game. All in all, I would say he was average tonight. Maybe he can improve, but if he went down to a tired shoulder in June, I don't see how anyone can count on him for September and October. That ball Inge hit was actually off the end of the bat and just kept going.

El Duque
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I didn't catch any of the game until about the 6th inning. Did he look good? He get hit hard? How was his control? Did he have to throw a lot of pitches? Any feedback would be apperciated. To be honest he looked pretty good. His fastball was the best he's had since he's been a member of the sox. His breaking balls ended over the plate a lot but they were biting. Best thing tonight though for the most part he was ahead of hitters early on if he does that he should be fine. He pitched 4 innings in his rehab start and then had a shaky 5th inning in this outing so he still needs to regain some stamina, overall he was solid tonight I thought.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) ... to the Cubs for Jason Dubois!!! Thats the move to get the Tribe into the playoffs This'll probably be moved but if that's true good move for the Cubs.
