Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Well the difference is Pods is a crap fielder, just has good speed. Scott's definitely a bad centerfielder but the point remains you don't move a top 5 defensive centerfielder out of his position for a aaa callup.

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) It was funny when Hawk said Pods would be CF at Soxfest. I went straight up to the mic, with Pods on stage and told Hawk that Aaron would be the CF on this team. (With no offense to Pods of course.) Hawk just kinda sat there and said we'll see. I remember that, Scott basically said the same thing we all were at the time, that Aaron had earned it and he's a great centerfielder and that he(Scott) had no problem moving over to left.

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Ive seen the 2 play and I think your are overating Rowand a bit and underating Anderson.... I love Rowand... and no way in hell would I want to lose him like some posters think... but defensively Id rather have Anderson in CF and Rowand in RF than the other way around. I have not seen Anderson play center field at all but Rowand has become to good of a centerfielder to kick him out of that position. If Anderson were ever going to be the centerfielder over Aaron, Aaron would have to lose that job or Brian would have to earn it, not have it just given to him.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) any idea of how long of a dealy, are they saying anything? I think it's just one of those storms where the rain comes down hard for a little while but passes pretty quickly.

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Dunn has a .390 OBP this year and a. 566 slugging (6th in the NL). Overall his OPS is .956, which is 5th in the NL. So, I wouldn't complain that much about his batting average. Here is also an interesting article http://www.baseballmusings.com/archives/009464.php I'm not advocating trading Rowand, but I have to defend Dunn. His ops is great, he can get on base and when he hits, he hits the ball hard, problem is he doesn't hit to much. I know some people think batting average is overrated but you have to be able to hit your way on base at times and Dunn's average with runners in scoring position is just brutal. Dunn's good but I personally don't think he's great.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I'm just saying that if Iguchi hits the wall in the 2nd half, Rowand should be the choice to move up in the order. Remember, Iguchi isn't used to the 162 game season. Ozzie's rested him a lot this season though. Tadahito has been one of if not the best two hitter in baseball this year, he's been fantastic.

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) The only two players that have been discussed that I wouldn't mind the Sox trading Rowand for would be Dunn or Brad Lidge. If we were to trade Rowand, it better be for someone that will be here after this season. I don't think Rowand is going anywhere though. I'm not a big fan of B. Anderson, as he didn't overly impress me much in Spring Training, and his K numbers are quite poor. Even if Anderson isn't ready next year, and PK doesn't come back to the Sox, a cheap alternative would be move Dye to 1b (I'm confident he could do well there), and sign a cheap corner outfielder. Just like Dye this year, you can find solid outfielders at fairly cheap prices. You could get much greater value for the same price at RF than you could for a 1b (the list of 1b FA is awful this year). I wouldn't trade Rowand for Dunn just because that would kill this team defensively, having scotty in centerfield would not be pretty.

AJ Burnett News
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) New York Daily News: Red Sox will get Burnett I'd stay out of this and let Baltimore/Boston/Toronto overpay for him and Lowell's awful contract. I completely agree.

AJ Burnett News
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Theo has already came out and said that his top five prospects are untouchable, and last night we had Bronson Arroyo performing a concert at Fenway, so I am really baffled at who the Red Sox would give up. My guess is somehow taking on Lowell, and then giving up a Brandon Moss or something of that sort, but we do know one things for sure, the writer for the daily news should be shot. what a horrible report... What the hell do expect, the New York papers love making up their own rumors.

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?
Aaron will probably tear it up the 2nd half and put this thread to rest. If Anderson does have an everday position next year he'll most likely be playing right field with Dye moving to first. Aaron's power numbers aren't fantastic at this point but they'll get better and he's become one of the better defensive centerfielders in baseball, there's no chance he's moved imo.

J.D. Learning from Pods?
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) I know we all love Pods, but does he strike anyone else as just an average baserunner? Maybe he just has too much confidence in his speed, but he's been gunned down at home mulitiple times on a groundouts. It's the contact play heads, it's not his fault.
