QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Actually I believe the Sheets game was right after the UNit game It was. The braves really couldn't hit at that point but there's still no way you can declare a 2 hitter better then a perfect game but that's jmo.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 04:58 AM) he's our third option in the pen. He's probably our 6th option out of the pen at this point.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 04:35 AM) In the short term, that might factor into their thinking. Though Jenks could be sent down and El Duque brought up. Yet the sox don't want to weaken their pen for the playoffs. Someone would be brought in later who'd be an upgrade over Shingo. I agree with both things you said. That's probably the thinking in the short term but thinking like Kenny he's got bigger things on his mind and everything I'm hearing is that Wagner has been made available, I'm not saying......I'm just saying.

Thinking this over a bit, this could also be a move to just open up a roster spot to either finally bring Ross up or make this the move allows the Duke to be activated. Who knows really, guess it's just a wait and see at this point.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) and is hardly used in any important situations anymore This is the key, as much as I've been impressed with Shingo these last few weeks and really think he's rounding back into form, ozzie just isn't using the guy. If he's not going to be used and we can get a top prospect for him, you gotta do it. I'd be sad to see Shingo go though, cause he was just awesome last year and he's damn fun to watch. If this is true and Shingo does get traded I wish him nothing but the best.

QUOTE(cubbiesuck13 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) Is there a reason to trade an MLB ready pitcher for a prospect this season? Like I said, I'd bet my house that there would be another trade that coincides with this one, if this deal happens.

GAME THREAD 7-16-2005 SOX vs INJUNS

Looks like Willie is going to be playing today. Hopefully he can just play smart out there, no mental mistakes. If crede is still out today and Ozuna plays, I hope he's in the 2 hole, with willie batting 9th. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) I did not think there would be anyone on here at this time of the night/morning, whatever the f*** this is. I have to go to work in 5 minutes. What's up 14 hour day of work?! There is some of us who don't sleep for whatever reason. That sucks though that you have to work this early and for that long. Try to have a good day though, hopefully you'll come home to a White Sox winner.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 03:39 AM) Ok my guess is that it's going to be the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unfortunately we won't be getting Conor Jackson or Carlos Quentin though, but if we can get a high - level prospect for Shingo, hell yeah we should do it. It means Viz and Jenks are probably here to stay for good as well. Ya, it sounds like it's the dbacks if we're getting a high spect for Shingo because Arizona is desperate for bullpen help. Now, I wonder if this supposed high prospect would be hear to stay or be moved in another deal. I'd bet the latter.

Uhh, interesting to say the least.......

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) What do you think will happen to him in prison??? Haha, good call. Just people like this really don't even deserve jail, it's sick, it really is.

GAME THREAD 7-16-2005 SOX vs INJUNS

Time for our allstar starter to do exactly what Freddy and Contreras have done. Hopefully Buehlre is Buehrle and the offense can play as well as they did today and I hope we see Ozzie be as aggressive as he was yesterday(sending runners and using the squeeze) the rest of the season. It was a thing of beauty. -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) What can I say ....this team will be there come post season To me, there are 3 important things that I care about now: a) Who do we get at trade deadline? B) Do we get the all time single season win-loss record? c) Do we win the World Series? If we do all three, I will die a happy man.....a very happy man Screw all 3. C is all that matters.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Here are Lilly's splits for the months; April - 1-2, 6.98 ERA May - 2-3, 8.06 ERA June - 2-3, 4.20 ERA July - 2-1, 1.35 ERA So yeah he's improved a lot since the first 2 months, but his away ERA is so high still, it does worry me a little. I'd like to see how he does now on the road this month in a couple of starts before making a deal, but I don't think the Sox are gonna wait that long, and hell they shouldn't, since another team may just sneak right in and make a deal. Batista on the other hand, has just been superb away from the Dome with a 1.80 ERA. He's an ideal target in my view. I have confidence in Lilly being just a solid pitcher because that's what he's been most of his career and like I said just watching his last few games, he's been absolutely nasty.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Mark Buehrle pitching in Japan in 2002: Do you see anything interesting about this picture? AJ.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) From Chicagosports.com: EDIT: I'd honestly go nuts if Chacin was acquired, that would truely be awesome. But I highly doubt Gustavo goes anywhere.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) Lilly or Miguel Batista would either make ideal additions in my mind. Batista's a swing guy who'd pitch in the pen for us, but could be stretched out into a starter if the need arised. Lilly's still quite young, a lefty and has had previous success. Some bad things though, his away splits this season, 1-6 with a 7.28 ERA. His BB/K ratio away, 23 BB's, 19 K's. He's also only signed for this season, at $3.1 million, so he'll need to be resigned like A.J Burnett. But if the Blue Jays do go into a fire sale mode, they're an ideal team to look at for trade options. Hell I'd go after Vernon Wells even, if Rowand doesn't pick up his power numbers, although a lot of people don't like Wells intensity or lack of in games. Honestly, try to land Lilly and Batista in the same deal and take this team where it can go. Lilly and Batista would both be fantastic additions, both are solid pitchers and would fill in nicely. As far as Lilly's high era on the road dbaho, he sucked at the beginning of the year no matter where was and recently he's just been outstanding, not just numbers wise but watching him the guy has been great and his last few starts he's pitched at skydome.
-
Wes finally starting to get healthy, he's thrown very well his last two times out. Tonight he went 5 innings giving up 3 hits 2 runs but none earned, 2 k's and 1 walk. His era is now 5.89

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Damn Bud Selig for making it impossible for me to trust people like Palmeiro. If they'd been testing in 93-94, when his power surge started, we'd at least have reason to believe it's all real. Now, it's Raffy's word against Canseco's. Damn you Bud Selig for turning your back. I'm taking Raffy's word in this case. Congrats Raffy

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Ozuna is 4 for 5. I would love to see this guy play SS and have Uribe on the bench for a while. Juan just isn't doing it offensively this season and he is in the starting lineup way too much. He's in there everyday because he's about as good as there is defensively in the AL.
