  1. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Again, you love to bring up anything I say, just to get me to come back and look like an idiot. If I really could say everything I wanted to about you on this board, I think I could ruin you, and you would be the one who would be laughed at, not me. Thats what I'm going to leave it at, I'm not completely clueless about you. Oooh threats.
  2. .176 baa lefties for Stanton as well. He has been very good against lefties but ssi71 does make a good point as well.
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) i just want to know where the people who campaigned for walker to be on teh team outa spring training are. i wish i could find out who it was, cuz i suspect many ppl here are flip flopping I was one of them who thought he should get a look but that was only because I'm so high on Neal Cotts and I would have liked to see him stretched out as a starter. The thing is I liked Walker in ST cause he threw strikes and was always ahead of hitters, in the minors and his short big league stint he can't find the plate.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) One thing to consider. The AS break will take 3 days out of the 15 days on the DL. Plus he was dl'ed retroactive to the 27th so that's 6 days gone right there including the AS break.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Hermy would have been the last pitcher in the pen. Ozzie had to stretch Shingo as far as possible. Or ..... let Timo pitch. Did you see that throw Juan made last night?? He could have blown the Tigers away with his heat
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) I don't think they are going anywhere positive for a couple years. They've screwed themselves bad.. which is a position I don't want to see the Sox in. Getting someone for our prospects doesn't guarantee anything. It sure would suck for us to get pinned down to something.. pee ourselves in October and not have any backup for 2 or 3 years. Oh god, I completely agree. Thankfully contrary to what some people believe we do have a ton of depth down in the minors now and if we do make a trade this year we got prospects to do it with and prospects to back those guys up.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Keep the faith brother! If complaining about bringing up Kevin AAAA Walker is the only thing we are complaining about on, this, the 30th of July, we're in A-OK shape! Woah, I slept through the whole month of July???
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) The Yankees are in a worse position than in any years recently, comparatively speaking. However, I wouldn't count them out, especially on the last day of June. I'm not counting them out but they have put themselves in a terrible position. I don't think they're going anywhere this year but they are the yanks and I won't ever count them out of anything.
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) Oh, stop it. You know it won't. Kenny and Ozzie are just gonna put this thing into cruise control, keeping both McCarthy and Walker on the roster until after the all-star break. It's ok. Marte has been a non-factor as of late and McCarthy has kept us in a position to win games. We'll survive. Yeah, you know what you're right. I guess I'm just kind of upset Baj or Jenks didn't get a chance just cause they don't throw with their left hands, this team does have 52 wins, I think I should just have faith in the organization. I still think it's the wrong move but I'll have faith.
  10. This move is all ozzie, he loves playing the matchup bulls*** so he needs another lefty. Baj or Jenks deserve a promotion so much more then Walker it's ridiculous, actually if they wanted a lefty why not Munoz??? Well, hopefully this doesn't bite us in the ass.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) What the Yanks past has to do with us trading away the farm now, like they did over the past 2 years, I fail to see. No more to my comments. I see no need to play the 2 year old tap dance game. They've put them self in a s***ty situation that's for sure. They're stuck at this point, not many prospects and a ton of crappy contracts that they're stuck with.
  12. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) And that is what I've been saying. If the right deal comes about, then you pull the trigger. Reed was never going to live up to be that good. Any prospect has got a shot, but I'd want to trade them for pieces to win often, and win now. What do you mean Reed won't live up to his potential?? I think Reed right now is doing exactly what a lot of us expected him to do, Reed's a good solid player.
  13. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Agreed. I only want him up here because he was decent in our bullpen for a year last year. But seriously, we all got hung up on Royce Ring, Kris Honel, Joe Blow, Mike Morse and Jeremy Reed. They will never live up to the numbers they put down at the minor league level. I will never see Jeremy Reed be that good. And for the old timers, they want to win. They don't give a flying f*** about guys at AAA...wouldn't you rather win a series and deal some prospects to get the pieces that are essential to put yourself over the top. Reed is good though, that trade was a steal for the Sox cause Freddy is a top of the line starter and you have to realize all the stars in this league were once minor leaguers, you just don't trade minor leaguers to trade them, if a deal makes sense then hell yeah you don't hold back but just cause they haven't proven anything doens't mean they won't in the future.
  14. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) I think Adkins should come up. He has proven himself able to pitch in the majors. Hell, bring Baj and Adkins up, and try to get rid of Vizcaino. He is absolutely brutal. You say this after probably his best outing of the year, lets give viz a couple more outings and see if he's straigtened himself out or if yesterday was just an abberation.
  15. Ah good an easy win for Duke Just playin greasy, Indiana is going to have an excellent team this year.
  16. AJ imo has been the MVP of this team though there are a lot of candidates for that distinction but AJ is a huge reason for this teams success.
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) its funny cuz farmer and melton both raved about how well viz threw. melton said he hadnt seen the 2 seemer viz threw tonight since last year in milwaulkee, and farmer said he had a great slider workin....i missed him pitching tho so i cant give my two cents. just sayin what the experts said The sinker he was throwing last night was moving all over the freakin place, that thing was nasty. I just hope he uses it more. Right now I'd take a wait and see with Viz and I really wouldn't touch Shingo. Shingo's back and we all know how good the guy is, it's like we just added a stud reliever to the pen imo with shingo. I'm not convinced on Viz yet however he did look good yesterday so instead of getting rid of the guy I'd like to see him pitch some more and see if he can revert back to what he's done the past few years.
  18. Hopefully Freddy can go atleast 7 strong, hand the ball over to Dam for the 8th and Hermy for the 9th with a lead, there the script is written.
  19. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) The White Sox cut ties with Lee and Magglio Ordonez over the winter, and Konerko is eligible for free agency at the end of the season. There has been some talk that Konerko is also heading for a new home, but look for the Sox to lock up the 29-year-old first baseman. I hope not. He's going to get far to much money and he just isn't worth it. I'd rather give Ross or Rogo a shot and use the money elsewhere but that's jmo. Meanwhile the sox got the best record in baseball and who cares about the offseason
  20. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) Anyone notice how he got ahead of the count on a lot of the batters? That will get the trust from a lot of fans. Shingo is still a favorite of mine and I would love to see him in the 9th inning once again. That should and will be Dustin's job until he does something to lose it. It'll be nice though just to have shingo available to use in a big spot or if Hermy does need a day off or if he goes on bereavment shingo can close some games out again.
  21. Shingo's back. For his past 5-6 outings he's been getting his junk over and keeping his fastball down, oh yeah throwing first pitch strike as well. It's so nice to get Shingo back because it's like we just add a stud reliever down in that bullpen, I'm so excited to have the shingo of old back in the pen.
  22. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) It's impossible to argue with Baj being the next guy called up but I wouldn't doubt that the Sox will bring up Jenks before him. The Sox were going to move Jenks up to Charlotte but pulled back on the move. I'm thinking they are going to promote him straight from AA when time comes. I wouldn't mind seeing either one up, just not Walker. Agreed with everything you said.
  23. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Anyone intersted in trading for Furcal of Atlanta and moving Uribe to 3rd base No.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Dude c'mon, If your gonna add something to the thread, say something knowledgeable. Yes, I was exxagurating....what? Am I going to be shunned from society? :headshake Rowand44, yes, his numbers are very odd but it attests to the team he plays for. 20 HR and only 39 RBI is funny but his high ass OBP is the funniest. He doesn't get many people on base in front of him. I know why they're all messed up. It's just quite interesting to look at 'em down the line for me.
