QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Cotts, as a starter.... Caller this is Onstar how can we help you Someone said that Neal Cotts was going to start a game, he is pitching better. I have shortness of breathe, and think I just vomitted in my mouth. I may have shat myself also. Dont worry take a step back Neal Cotts cannot start a game. That experiment is over. Thank you. Onstar is always here for you. Even when crazy Cotts starting thoughts appear. Experiment?? He's started what 3 games in the major leagues. Now don't get me wrong I don't think he should be an option as a starter this year because he's been solid out of the pen but he really hasn't been given a shot yet to succeed as a starter. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) You avoided my question. Who do you pitch in place of Hernandez if he is on the DL, and McCarthy is gone? Gio Gonzalez, he's ready. Honestly, that's the problem with trading Brandon, maybe something like Bmac, Rogo and Crede for Chavez and Saarloos could work?? Obviously Saarloos isn't anything special but he'd atleast provide a decent major league option if someone were to go down. -

QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Was or wan't Chavez on the score yesterday? Can anyone confirm this for me? I assume you'd be against a trade for Chavez considering your faith in Joe Crede? -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Good post. While not yet major league ready, McCarthy is still valuable to our current rotation. I would like the Pro-Chavez crowd to explain what would they would do if Hernandez needs another two weeks 'off'? Something which is a real possibility. Does T-BALL stand get the callup? Or Jon Adkins? If so, we're not in good shape for the stretch run. Whether or not Chavez is at 3b and batting close to his career AVG. That's a good point and that's what would worry me if a trade of Bmac were to happen. However, if you can get an Eric Chavez you have to make every effort to do so, imo. -

Beane's going to want Bmac, he's going to want a top flight starting pitcher prospect to give up Chavez imo. Another guy I could see Billy being interested in is Rogo. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) THIS TRADE IS NOT HAPPENING. IT IS A RUMOR. NOTHING MORE. As of right now it's a rumor and your right so far it's nothing, however it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Kenny pulled off a deal for Chavez. -

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) An 18 yr old kid doing what Gio's doing in high A, his ceiling will be pretty high He's still in low A but regardless he's been exceptional so far. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Eh, I personally think Gio will be better than BMAC, but thats my opinion. He's got the potential to be, problem is he's a very small guy with a high risk of injury and he's not very close to the majors. I said right when we drafted the guy that I thought he'd be very special if he can stay healthy but that remains to be seen. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) What an ugly league we had last time It was fun for a while and then went to hell.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) I think Chavez would bat third... LF Podsednik 2B Iguchi 3B Chavez DH Thomas 1B Konerko CF Rowand RF Dye C Pierzynski SS Uribe And yes, that would be a hell of a lineup. He'd probably bat 4th to break up the righties with Frank batting 3rd. Ahh, we've already put chavez in the lineup, premature but fun none the less. -
Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) and their O is so much better. Their offense is absolutely horrendous. They have no top of the order whatsoever. Also to suggest their pitching is as good as the sox is laughable at this point. -

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Same here maybe even later like hours before the deadline Kenny never makes his big move right before the deadline. If the sox are going to make a big move it'll be done within the next month, imo. He could make a smaller move hours before the deadline like Contreras last year but if Chavez is going to be traded to the sox it'll be within the month, no doubt in my mind. -

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) He does not clog the bases and can steal? Have you ever watched this guy run? I think he gets about 5 steals a year. Big deal. Actually he's been around 6-8 every year and playing in Oakland that's actually a lot. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Chavez + Gload > Crede + Konerko In my opinion anyways, especially if we keep Frank. Oh god, it's not even close in my mind Chavez + Gload>>>>>>Crede and Konerko. I'm a huge fan of Ross and I really believe he can be a starting first baseman. He's great with the leather and though Crede and Konerko are solid gloveman Konerko has no range at first. Not to mention Chavez and Ross can both move on the bases while Pauly and Joe can not. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) We got Chavy, go after his buddy Durazo next season for 1b. Edit, we GET Chavy.... If Chavez were to be added by traded, I really think Ross would be our starting first baseman next season. Wow, so now I've traded for Chavez and made Ross a starting firstbaseman. :headshake -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) This all comes down to how confident is Kenny in Chavez's ability to converge back to his expected #s, as opposed to his current #s If we are giving up BMac, Kenny better be darn sure. And if Chavez does not work out and becomes a Albert Belle type contract on us, I better see Kenny fired. Because we all know if a big acquisition does not work out, JR will not spend anything for the next decade citing how that does not work. Ahh yes fire the gm of the best team in baseball, that happens all the time. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) Im saying, that if its only Crede and BMAC, we are raping Beane right there. But its also mutually beneficial, BMAC, as the kind of pitcher he is, would benefit from moving to Oakland from our bandbox. Ya, I agree with this now. At first when I heard this rumor I wanted Bmac to be untouchable and I still want to hold onto him if all possible but if we could get a guy like Chavez you have to go for it. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Adjusted numbers mean nothing to me. Just give me the raw data. Chavez is not worth a $30+ million commitment and giving up some of our top talent. I'm not a fan of adjusted numbers either but Chavez is a stud, period. He's a 30, 100 guy and a gold glover at 3rd base, not to mention a left handed power hitter to throw in the lineup and we'd have him for years to come. I'd absolutely love to get Chavez but it obviously depends on what we have to give up. -

Possible Trade Between the Royals and Angels
Rowand44 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Scouts and other baseball people think the Angels might have recalled first baseman Casey Kotchman to showcase him for potential trades. The player the Angels are most interested in acquiring is the Kansas City Royals' Mike Sweeney, and the Royals could use Kotchman at first base for years at a bargain-basement price. I could really see this happening. That seems to make sense for both teams. The angels could definitely use another bat and a package surrounding Kotchman would make great sense for KC. -
QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) On what do you base this assertion? Where I live, I get A's/Giants games, and Alou will use three pitchers in one inning based on the matchups. Dusty Baker does the same thing. How can you say Ozzie does it more than any other manager in baseball? I know you can't be following every game and every team. Ok, good point. I should say he does it more then any other manager I know of, mostly al teams since I see much more al games then nl. He's just ridiculous with the matchup game at time, the lefty-lefty thing is the right thing to do at times but definitely not all the time.
-
QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Lefty/lefty isn't bulls***. It's an age old tactic used by every manager, all the time. Ozzie isn't in "love" with the pitcher/batter stategy any more than any other manager. Yes he is, he's in love with the matchup game more then any other manager in baseball. That strategy works sometimes but in a lot of instances it's the wrong thing to do. Just cause a pitcher is left handed doesn't mean he's going to get a left handed hitter out.
