The Problem with Timo Perez
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) It's fascinating reading all this venom for a fringe OF who has such a small role on the team. Personally I think the whole bench situation will be shuffled very soon. A lot of people turned on him this year, last year he was actually pretty loved by mostly everyone on this board and there were a few(GHC, qwerty, aboz) who never liked him to begin with but besides them mostly everyone here liked him. He hasn't been good this year, no doubt but the few hits he does have, have been pretty big( homer again the twins, bases loaded bunt, game winning hit against the angels) and yes I know he couldn't hit a sac fly to win the game vs. Detroit a while back but that's really the only time he hasn't produced under pressure and many others have done that. Don't get me wrong I think Timo should be the odd man out because I think willie and pablo add much more to the team then Timo does but I definitely don't think he's as bad as most but that's jmo and I'm not trying to start an argument here because I know everyone disagrees with me.

What would you rather have?
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) I saw this question posted on some other board and I'd like to see what most people would say. 5 bucks or WNBA title in Chicago (or wherever you live)? Honestly, and I thought about this for a little while, I'd take money. 5 bucks.

Kenny Williams on 670 radio
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) So let me get this straight. The "rumor" supposedly came from a caller on a radio show or someone on a message board saying Ken Rosenthal said it was a deal being discussed. Rosenthal was emailed and said he had no knowledge of said rumor. BB said it was BS. Chavez said it was BS, and that he did not want to play in Chicago. KW didn't say it was BS but said he isn't trading the main ingredient of said deal, therefore making it BS, and there still are people here that think this rumor still has validity? It's a valid rumor because it makes sense for both parties. You're kidding yourself if you think there is nothing to it just because the parties involved say nothing is going to happen, of course they're going to say that, what would you expect?? Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying a trade is going to happen but just because Chavez says he's not going anywhere and kenny says nothing is going to happen means absolutely nothing.

Who Is Better Looking?
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Jennie Finch, now that's who we should add. She was at the game on Tuesday, that was a pleasant surprise.

Homework Help Needed...
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) I would have failed out of high school if I didn't cheat. I think I speak for nearly 95% of the student body when I say that. I didn't do a single hw assignment in high school by myself.

Poor Buddy Bell
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Should have been the 2000 manager of the year. His Ghandi ways would have worked nicely with the young kids. Maybe good old JM will get a shot with cinci when Miley gets fired. I think he was in the running when Miley got the job. I'd like to see him get another shot, no doubt. He was to laid back as a manager for me but he really wasn't that bad and was a great guy, hopefully he'll catch on as a manger somewhere.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Does anyone have ESPN Insider? I heard that Buster Olney's latest blog has the Eric Chavez to the White Sox rumor in it. It basically just mentions the rumor and says how it would make sense.

Yet another Aubrey Huff rumor...
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Agreed. Total speculation here but maybe Huff's numbers are down because he got off the juice? I still see no way that the Devil Rays would trade Huff for old, fat Dmitri Young just because he is the older brother of one of their top prospects. Huff's a great hitter and he always starts slow, his numbers will be real good again at the end of this year.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Solid our of the pen? Neal Cotts, the left handed pitcher from the whitesox. The minute he learns to throw strikes consistantly, maybe get a left hander out or dont s*** himself silly when a bit of pressure is applied we can revisit the "he is solid out of the pen and we can use him as a spot starter" I'm not getting into another Cotts argument, I've said my piece on him and I'm leaving it at that.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Cotts, as a starter.... Caller this is Onstar how can we help you Someone said that Neal Cotts was going to start a game, he is pitching better. I have shortness of breathe, and think I just vomitted in my mouth. I may have shat myself also. Dont worry take a step back Neal Cotts cannot start a game. That experiment is over. Thank you. Onstar is always here for you. Even when crazy Cotts starting thoughts appear. Experiment?? He's started what 3 games in the major leagues. Now don't get me wrong I don't think he should be an option as a starter this year because he's been solid out of the pen but he really hasn't been given a shot yet to succeed as a starter.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) You avoided my question. Who do you pitch in place of Hernandez if he is on the DL, and McCarthy is gone? Gio Gonzalez, he's ready. Honestly, that's the problem with trading Brandon, maybe something like Bmac, Rogo and Crede for Chavez and Saarloos could work?? Obviously Saarloos isn't anything special but he'd atleast provide a decent major league option if someone were to go down.

QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Was or wan't Chavez on the score yesterday? Can anyone confirm this for me? I assume you'd be against a trade for Chavez considering your faith in Joe Crede?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Good post. While not yet major league ready, McCarthy is still valuable to our current rotation. I would like the Pro-Chavez crowd to explain what would they would do if Hernandez needs another two weeks 'off'? Something which is a real possibility. Does T-BALL stand get the callup? Or Jon Adkins? If so, we're not in good shape for the stretch run. Whether or not Chavez is at 3b and batting close to his career AVG. That's a good point and that's what would worry me if a trade of Bmac were to happen. However, if you can get an Eric Chavez you have to make every effort to do so, imo.

Beane's going to want Bmac, he's going to want a top flight starting pitcher prospect to give up Chavez imo. Another guy I could see Billy being interested in is Rogo.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) THIS TRADE IS NOT HAPPENING. IT IS A RUMOR. NOTHING MORE. As of right now it's a rumor and your right so far it's nothing, however it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Kenny pulled off a deal for Chavez.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) An 18 yr old kid doing what Gio's doing in high A, his ceiling will be pretty high He's still in low A but regardless he's been exceptional so far.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Eh, I personally think Gio will be better than BMAC, but thats my opinion. He's got the potential to be, problem is he's a very small guy with a high risk of injury and he's not very close to the majors. I said right when we drafted the guy that I thought he'd be very special if he can stay healthy but that remains to be seen.

New OOTP league opening up

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) I think Chavez would bat third... LF Podsednik 2B Iguchi 3B Chavez DH Thomas 1B Konerko CF Rowand RF Dye C Pierzynski SS Uribe And yes, that would be a hell of a lineup. He'd probably bat 4th to break up the righties with Frank batting 3rd. Ahh, we've already put chavez in the lineup, premature but fun none the less.

Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) and their O is so much better. Their offense is absolutely horrendous. They have no top of the order whatsoever. Also to suggest their pitching is as good as the sox is laughable at this point.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Same here maybe even later like hours before the deadline Kenny never makes his big move right before the deadline. If the sox are going to make a big move it'll be done within the next month, imo. He could make a smaller move hours before the deadline like Contreras last year but if Chavez is going to be traded to the sox it'll be within the month, no doubt in my mind.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) He does not clog the bases and can steal? Have you ever watched this guy run? I think he gets about 5 steals a year. Big deal. Actually he's been around 6-8 every year and playing in Oakland that's actually a lot.
