Wilder: "They wanted Borchard"
Pavano is definitely the number one guy I want the sox to go after. He's just flat out filthy, just watching him in the playoffs last year you could tell he turned the corner. I'm really interested to see what the market is for Carl. How much do you think he'll get?

Carl Pavano.

Come on now heads, we had the argument all settled, now you opened the door back up for more argument. :headshake

7/5 Games
I just love looking at gio's stat line and keep seeing no walks. With this guy's control and stuff for him it's just a matter of staying healthy. Gio has a real chance to be something special if he can stay healthy.

So...... how about that Chris Young.

Wilder: "They wanted Borchard"
Ok that's just complete and utter bulls***. Reed has not once complained about his wrists. They've both been fighting injuries this year and both have been doing solid jobs. If you don't like reed and think Borch is better, make a real argument don't come back with bs.

Wilder: "They wanted Borchard"
Like I said before I'm really split on this reed vs. borchard argument but I think right now it's kind of crazy to compare these guys to major leaguers. I know you can compare them to who they're similar to but the comparisons kind of are crazy, by that I mean reed has been compared to mark kotsay but he's also been compared to Rafeal Palmeiro, Borch according to people is either russell branyon or adam dunn. Obviously who knows what either of them will turn out to be, there definitely can be an argument made for each player, I think they're both very talented and I hope they both succeed.

Gagne Streak over at 84!!
It's unbelievable because the guy had 84 straight saves and his streak gets broken by one of the worst teams in baseball.
-
Wilder: "They wanted Borchard"
Well put dbaho. That's probably the best way you can explain this scenario.

Gagne Streak over at 84!!
Out of all teams the diamondbacks. Wow absolutely unbelievable. Maybe the dodgers will trade him now that the streak is over.

Mentioned in Garciaparra rumors..
Oh yeah that's a great idea move Jose the better fielder to 2nd or 3rd.

I'm tired of all this billy beane praising. Beane is a good gm but he's overrated if you ask me. His sabermatics bulls*** didn't get him anywhere. What got him places is that he has good minor league people working with him in their drafts. It's mulder, hudson, and zito that have got the a's to the playoffs every single year and those guys aren't their soley because of billy beane. To him obp is the only stat that means anything and their offense always seems to be a problem every year. OBP is obviously a huge stat but it's not the only stat that matters.

I should rephrase that a little bit. What I mean is you can bet that kenny will make a call to arizona, maybe not a legitimate run we both know that would all depend on how much jr will up the payroll.

Jose is a better defender. Right now he's a better hitter also, take nomar out of fenway and he isn't a great hitter. Jose is also the only left handed power bat we have and getting nomar to get rid of jose would hurt this ball club.

Mentioned in Garciaparra rumors..
Nomar has obviously had the better career but this year Jose is WAY better. I would not even consider a jose for nomar swap right now.

The sox are not getting randy johnson. Hell Yeah I would absolutely love to have him but it just isn't going to happen. If he becomes available I guarantee kw will make a run at him but rj will not come to the southside, unfortunately.

I agree with a lot of your points, however I do believe that Borchard has much more potential, while reed is definitely the more sure bet. For me it's almost impossible to say which one I would have rather gave up. I've always been a huge borchard fan because I love his work ethic and that's why I still have a lot of hope that Borchard can be a special player because he is such a hard worker.

Hey dan do you know bmac's line so far: walks, hits, k's. I'm sure he's doing awesome because he's one hell of a pitcher.

New Sox Commercial
Yeah good point, forgot all about that. That plus the bucket boys and I think I'm at a bulls game.

New Sox Commercial
Beat me to this thread. Also just saw the commercial, it's a really cool commercial. Brooks is doing a great job and I've loved everything he's done so far.

****Official All-Star Thread****
Harvey isn't as good as pauly but unfortunately the royals need a representative. If beltran isn't traded pauly or frank are in this game. But because kc needs a player to go it basically had to be harvey, kc doesn't have any other players that are even close to all star caliber this year.

How come we play Anaheim twice at home
It's because the al west only has 4 teams so you have to play those west teams extra games to make up for a lack of a 5th team.
