  1. Sounds like the exact type of guy the Sox would go after.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) But see, I think it illustrates the difference between Duke and Miller/Robertson. Keppinger got released and we don't even really FEEL his financial burden. He was slightly less likely to succeed than Dunn was, but when they both failed so hard, we had to live with the consequences of the latter, but were able to simply wipe our hands of the former. For a team with a $90-100m payroll, tying up 10-15% in a black hole RP spot is a big deal. Tying up 5% is much, much easier to swallow. I think the gap in expected performance between Duke and Miller/Robertson is much smaller, proportionately, than the gap in cost. I agree with all of this.

    YAY!
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) So started this Whole 30 diet with the wife on Sunday...meat, vegetables, fruits, and some nuts, that's it. So how'd this go Shack? I'm still sticking to a modified version of it and I'm liking the results overall.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) I keep seeing that but I really think it's very very unlikely. Semien yes Conor no. Just think he's too invested at 3rd base and not enough foot speed for it to be a viable option. I probably should have added if we decide to upgrade at 3b. Obviously it doesn't make a ton of sense to try him out there if he's our starting 3b, my bad ha.

I think I'll probably go see Mockingjay Friday during the day since I'm off work. It's cool to see a movie by yourself, right Brian?
  7. If Conor is still on the roster come st, I wonder if he starts to see some time in the outfield. Anywho, staying on topic, I think Melky makes a ton of sense for the Sox.
  8. I was probably more worried than anyone about Doug's scoring ability in the pros but he's definitely not this bad and he's not going to miss that many open shots. Give him time.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) Disagree. When you hire Scott Boras, that thinking goes out the window. Your idea does a disservice to the franchise. And I'll disagree with you. If the Sox are serious about competing in 2015(which I think they are) and if Rodon is one of the 5 best starters on the roster(I think he is) then he should be on the opening day roster. And I know that wont be a popular decision around here but if we're looking to win in 2015 then put the best roster out there, worry about 6 years down the road when it's here.
  10. If it were up to me, he'd be starting in Chicago day 1. Well day 3 or 4.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 8m8 minutes ago Duke said he's friends with Scott Podsednik, who speaks very highly of the White Sox organization And we found our everyday left fielder for 2015!!!!
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:02 PM) You eat Duke, you eat Keppinger, guess what that adds up to? $4.73.
  13. Ya I have a hard time getting angry about the 3rd year, if we have to eat 5.5 mill then oh well. That said, definitely a bit of an overpay but as others have said we were going to have to spend a little money on the pen and I'd rather go with Duke for 15 total than Miller for 40(if he gets around there of course).
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) I'd give them a one in a million shot of signing Andrew Miller at this point. Will you eat a hat if they sign him?
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:21 PM) Apparently you have heard that the bird is the word. Well played.
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) A bird. Ahh well I'll take the bird's word for it.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) We can confirm that he has at least flown in a plane before. Source?
  18. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) What else would you expect him to do? Fly the team plane? That's why I would sign him.
  19. There's been a lot of people on Soxtalk over the years who have promised to eat a hat, haven't seen it done yet...
  20. DA might be right and Duke might be awful but I'd rather take a chance on someone like him as opposed to giving Andrew Miller 10 mill a year for 4 years. Once again, I'm assuming this deal isn't anything outrageous but I'm happy with it.
  21. Sounds like a good signing to me as long as the price tag isn't outrageous, which I can't see it being.
  22. I liked winter when I was younger but I just despise it now. I hate the cold, I hate snow, f*** winter.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) UNI and Stephen F. Austin in OT if you guys need something to watch. Fun game, good win for the Panthers.
