  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) Even if it's 500k over, it's definitely worth the risk. Yup. So happy we took him over Nola.
  2. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) I can't believe kolek went 2 lol had to be money Or cause he throws 8 bajillion miles an hr.
  3. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) Man you guys are going haywire. I was joking but he will be in the bigs this year, no doubt in my mind.
  4. There's our 3rd starter in the playoffs this year. Kidding, or am I?
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:09 PM) I think I'm going to stay out of this thread. Ha yup. Damn Twitter spoilers!
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:05 PM) For those at work, this is streaming at mlb.com Yup. I'm just waiting for someone to come in and bug me right when the Sox are on the clock.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Exactly. I was legit confused by that quote then I remembered Gammons is old and senile.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Not an exact quote but... "If you're Miami or the Cubs this a guy who can help you in the race from the 'pen this year." Gammons in reference to Rodon. Huh?
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) I mean, if I was going to guess any switching things up I'd bet it's the cubs. Not sure who he was talking about but it's not the Sox. They'll be taking one of those 4 pitchers, no doubt.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) So it went from Rodon to Kolek and now were on Nola In other words, nobody has a damn clue.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) Potential being the key word there. Well it's the baseball draft, it's all "potential." Where I disagree with some is that I'm always taking the highest ceiling over anything else.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) You've been on this board for 12 years now. If you somehow missed the running "Mark Buehrle is not an ace" joke, then you can read through this thread (and 16 year old me talking like a clown) as a starting point. Kalapse crash landed a thread once too, but I can't find the thread. That might be the most classic thread in Soxtalk history. We were so adorable as 16 year olds.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:40 PM) As most know, I love to cherry pick....Sans 2 games where Danks was absolutely shelled, giving up 15 runs in 9.2 innings, Johnny has a 2.89 ERA in his other 10 starts. 9 of his 12 starts have been of the quality variety..... I know a lot of people have talked about trading Danks, but if he keeps this up for the next 2 months, there's no way I'm trading him. And as everyone always tells you, you just can't do that. You can take a start or two away from everyone and their numbers look much better. Take Danks' two best starts away and let me know what his numbers look like.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) If I had to bet today, Alex does NOT make the HOF in my lifetime. Yup, no chance he'll get in.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Doesn't mean it's right. I think we can agree that most of these players in the draft will not perform at a HOF level during there career. So the example isn't very realistic. I disagree about teaching the pitching aspect. Pitchers have poorer control when they try to over throw. If you have them back off the control improves. It's not a given that everyone can do it but most can. Seems like one of those things that the Sox seem to be better at teaching than most as well. Even though he's a high schooler, Kolek seems like the perfect guy for the Sox coaches to get a hand on.
  16. I hope they just take the number 1 player on their board and not fall to the temptation of taking Nola because he could be a fast riser. For me, the number 1 player is Kolek but I wont be mad about any of the top 3. I will be disappointed if they go with Nola though.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Rumor that Nova is leader for Brunson. Wha? Pssh, look back 3 pages.
  18. So I have not seen any of John's last 3 starts, is his fastball looking better or is he just keeping his slow stuff down and hitting his spots?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) We need to keep developing the kids we have and not lose track of what this team is supposed to be doing. At the same time, we are contending at the moment and there's no reason to lose track of that because of the fact we weren't supposed to at the beginning of the year. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:25 AM) I think gaining experience in competitive baseball is awesome for development. This too.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Sarcasm? Nope.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:09 PM) Just like Doug Eddings, I will never complain about him. I hate your love for Josh Beckett.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) I like this Abreu kid. Dude can't even homer every at bat. Not a fan.
  23. Hahahaha this guy is a f***in joke.
