QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) Movie selection f***ing sucks these days. My wife and I are taking the day off work tomorrow and the kiddo gets to go to day care. Free parent day. Everyone rejoice. How to spend our free time? Let's go see a movie in the theaters for the first time since last fall. My choices are s*** (all comic book movies), s*** (Million Dollar Arm, the movie with the three chicks and Jamie Lannister, Rio 2) and a movie I do want to see (The Neighbors) but refuse to pay 20-25 bucks to see when I can watch it for a $1.50 in 6 months. So our choice is Godzilla, which I'm mildly excited to see. But it's going to cost us $40 bucks to see a movie that comes with a 50% chance of being awful if what i'm reading is true. Can hollywood please just come up with some original ideas for the summer? I saw a lot of the Oscar nominated movies last year and they were mostly good. But summer blockbusters are always f'n terrible. Just make some good, non-comic book, non-reboot action movies. Is that really too much to ask for? You seem very hard to please when it comes to tv and movies. So yes, probably too much to ask for.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ May 21, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) That means he's better than Tanaka right? It means he's the best pitcher in baseball.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) Who has benefitted most from Sabremetrics? Who has benefitted the most from baseball? Players and management. BASEBALL IS A GIMMICK!
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:53 PM) I just have to ask what people think is the long term solution at SS if Alexei is traded? We have several middle infield prospects that are good with the glove, but I don't see any that have the potential to regularly put up an OPS above .750, which is what Alexei seems to be on track for this year. When Alexei was struggling to get his OPS over .650, yes he was expendable, but I think the Sox really need to wait and see if the new Alexei is the real thing. Abreu-Eaton-Alexei and maybe Viciedo and/or AGarcia figure to be the core of this offense for several years. Finding a catcher and some left handed power (beyond this season) for LF, 1B, or DH are all this team lacks to having a really, really good lineup. Marcus is the possibility there. Not saying he IS the long term answer but he's the one where there's a chance.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) Maybe while trying to make someone look a fool This is beyond awesome coming from you.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 21, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) Dayn Perry is a maniac. This was my first thought when I saw this as well. Sounds like a blast though, wish I was in town for it.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 21, 2014 -> 10:23 AM) Whatever Rienzo is, and I don't think he's more than a #5, I have no problem watching him compete every fifth day. He makes me laugh but I love his fire. He's maybe a little overzealous with the fist pumps but at least he's (seemingly) stranding runners consistently. I'm not sure if he's a 4 or 5 but whatever it is I do think he's a very capable major league starter. Even if he's just a 5, being that he's so cheap, he's very valuable to us.
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 20, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) I mean, you can definitely make the upside argument, but he was also incredibly raw and his stock seemed to be slipping because of it. Obviously it looks silly in retrospect. I think I had him #2 before his college season but started dropping him like everyone else when he kept putting up like 8-6 every game. I don't think I'd have taken him over Beal or Barnes and MKG was an interesting argument (definitely not Beal, I liked him a lot). People loved the "motor" argument with Drummond. And Ya, I'm just talking about where Waiters was taken, Beal was my guy, I never understood why anyone had MKG ranked ahead of him.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) Seriously the no brainer is Parker with 1b being Wiggins. They'll take neither. Give me both Kansas guys over Parker.
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 20, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) Even scarier, Drummond over Waiters. A bit of a stretch admittedly, but they could have definitely used a big. They'll have to work to screw this one up. Wiggins and Parker are at least decent starters and Embiid could be a beast if he stays healthy. I don't really think that would have been a stretch. Barnes and Drummond has a ridiculous amount of upside and everyone knew that.
  11. This timetable seems very bizarre.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 20, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Kyle Freeland pitched poorly and Evansville is out as well. Ya, suck it Evansville!
  13. I haven't looked at their schedule but that seems like a pretty easy over.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 19, 2014 -> 11:35 PM) Really hope there's a plan for him beyond the Wyatts. As a wrestler Harper>>>>Wyatt. Hands down my favorite guy to watch in the ring. I'd say Harper is probably one of the top 5 workers on the main roster at the moment. Cesaro, Bryan, Rollins in no particular order and Harper. That's just off the top of my head so I'm probably forgetting someone but he's terrific.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 20, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) My Twolves friend, who usually knows a lot about the the nba, proposed this: Minnesota trades: Kevin Love and Kevin Martin Chicago trades: Carlos Boozer, Jimmy Butler, CHA 1st, CHI 1st I'd do it in a heartbeat but yeah, I doubt Minny would. Then again if hes not going to re-sign, he's not going to re-sign. Ha, that'd be amazing for us. Not happening.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 20, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) I don't think it's so much that his value will increase if his defense improves but rather that his value is more limited because he plays 1B. It's not to say he's a bad player or he will be hurt if his defense isn't good. Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder are both terrible fielding 1B and nobody cares about that at all. I see what you're saying but this value DOES increase if he's a better defensive 1b. Yes, his main job here is to hit the baseball out of the park but if he's a better 1b, he's a better baseball player. So if he's a better baseball player, he's more valuable. I don't see the problem in saying that.
  17. Ya, I think some people just assume this team is going to lose 90 games because they had low expectations coming into this season. If you look at the season so far for what it is, we've managed to stay around .500 with a ton of key players hitting the dl at some point, including our two superstars. If we can get some of these guys back, I still think we stick around the wild card race all season. If everyone continues to break then not so much.
  18. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 20, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) Others here may disagree, but I think cutting out the soda and junk food and running 3 to 5 miles a couple times per week will get you pretty close to where you want to be by themselves, and by late Summer. Programs like P90X will no doubt get you there faster (and take you farther), but if you can't commit to something like that (I don't think I could either), you shouldn't let that stop you altogether. You can always step up to that later. That'll get him to lose some weight, no doubt, but with out some resistant training his body composition might not be the best.
  19. Luke Harper is AWESOME.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 19, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) I think you severely overrate Gordon Beckham. Last year, Beckham compared favorably to Eric Sogard and DJ LeMahieu. Maybe you just underrate Eric Sogard and DJ LeMahieu? Ya, bet you didn't think about that.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) I'd very likely do this as well but with the caveat that the Bulls would have to have some idea of how to fill the SG and SF holes that they'd be creating. Obviously you have to fill those holes somehow, but if you have the chance to role with Rose, Love and Noah, you do it and figure everything else out later. But once again, we're talking about something that isn't going to happen. Kevin Love wont be a Chicago Bull. At least not in his prime.
  22. Ya what the hell is going on? Love it though.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 18, 2014 -> 02:01 PM) Only the Sox can mess up against a meatball pitcher like that should of had 3 or 4 runs that inning. Correct, the offense has been awful this year.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 18, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) I wish it wouldn't automatically change my picture. It was fine until I hit post Did you name your kid after Fit Finlay?
  25. Could be nerves for Danish, who knows. Not going to freak out until a few more starts.
