This is so so good: This character has a ton of potential.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 24, 2014 -> 06:43 AM) As much as I'd hate to see Dunn go, his trade value is skyrocketing right now, and even if the Sox keep Dunn and sneak into a WC spot, I don't see the starting pitching there to make a serious postseason run. Some teams are going to be very desperate for a power bat come July. Sale and Q give you a chance if you can sneak into the playoffs.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 23, 2014 -> 06:43 AM) Liked DB as well but everyone I've recommended it to got mad at me because they thought it was boring. Guess they wanted a more cliche ending. It bored the hell out of me. And I didn't think it was possible to be bored when I get to stare at Anna and Olivia Wilde for 2 hours but that movie accomplished it.

So Ibaka might play in game 3 on Sunday. Ok than.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) and sleeps with lots of chicks. I honestly thought this was going to be some parody article about just that when I first saw the headline.

GAME THREAD 5/23 - WHAT'S YOUR VECTOR, HECTOR?
Rowand44 replied to cabiness42's topic in 2014 Season in Review
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 23, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) There's no way in hell the Sox choose Noesi over Rienzo assuming results keep steady. Ya, that'd be silly. -
QUOTE (Boogua @ May 23, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) I have no idea why there has to be some sort of justification for hating Lebron and the Heat. I can only imagine Bulls fans in the late 80s saying "Come on guys, why do you hate the Pistons? They're a great team and Isaiah is really a stud point guard who even tried to make it so that he was drafted by the Bulls" Or Celtics fans in the 80s "Come guys, why the hate for Magic and the Lakers? Magic is one of the most pleasant stars in the league and it's showtime baby, how entertaining is that?" How about the Knicks fans of the early 90s? "Come on guys, why the venom for Jordan and the Bulls? He's likely the greatest player ever and you should just appreciate his presence." Or the Pacers fans of the 90s, "Come on guys, lets not hate the Knicks or Bulls. They both have fantastic players and we should just appreciate them." I'm sure Kings fans were questioned for disliking the Lakers in the early 00s. I'm sure Trailblazers fans rooted for the lakers too (Come on guys, how many times do you get to see talents like Kobe and Shaq pair up?" This is idiotic. How many fans root for dynasties across sports? Do you think the majority of the people liked the Patriots? Do a lot of nonhawks fan root for them? (I honestly don't know that one because I'm not huge with hockey) Maybe I'm just more passionate than others. It reminds me of a friend that asked me, "Why do you hate Aaron Rodgers? He owns." I know he owns, but that doesn't stop me from hating his f***ing guts. The big difference being we've only had 1 legit chance of winning a title when we've played them in the playoffs. It's not like they've constantly dashed our championship hopes. Like I said, I always root for them to lose but there's no real reason for me to hate them at this point, it's not like they're the ones keeping my team from winning a title, that's been injuries and management.

Chris Sale is better than Scott Carroll, guys.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 22, 2014 -> 07:20 PM) Looking forward to the debate about taking Sale out of the game with 130 pitches and a no-hitter Nah, he'll let up a hit. He'll have 15 k's through 6 innings and 130 pitches though.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) I am so tired of people b****ing about the Heat. How can they hold such venom for so long? I'll always hate LeBron, but to be honest I couldn't even tell you why at this point. Even though I feel like I don't care I guess in the back of my mind the Jordan comparisons bother me.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) Is that f***ing Mike Mussina? Ha, looks exactly like him.

I'm not trying to make excuses for OKC as SA just appears to be locked in but I do wonder how much of a mental blow losing Ibaka was.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 22, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) In what world is Johnson a better prospect the Semien? That's crazy talk. I still like Semien better but it's not "crazy talk" to think Johnson is a better prospect. I'm sure plenty of people like Micah better. Anywho, as people have said, there's still a ton of time to figure this out at 3b. To be honest, I'm not sold on either guy yet.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) Movie selection f***ing sucks these days. My wife and I are taking the day off work tomorrow and the kiddo gets to go to day care. Free parent day. Everyone rejoice. How to spend our free time? Let's go see a movie in the theaters for the first time since last fall. My choices are s*** (all comic book movies), s*** (Million Dollar Arm, the movie with the three chicks and Jamie Lannister, Rio 2) and a movie I do want to see (The Neighbors) but refuse to pay 20-25 bucks to see when I can watch it for a $1.50 in 6 months. So our choice is Godzilla, which I'm mildly excited to see. But it's going to cost us $40 bucks to see a movie that comes with a 50% chance of being awful if what i'm reading is true. Can hollywood please just come up with some original ideas for the summer? I saw a lot of the Oscar nominated movies last year and they were mostly good. But summer blockbusters are always f'n terrible. Just make some good, non-comic book, non-reboot action movies. Is that really too much to ask for? You seem very hard to please when it comes to tv and movies. So yes, probably too much to ask for.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 21, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) That means he's better than Tanaka right? It means he's the best pitcher in baseball.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) Who has benefitted most from Sabremetrics? Who has benefitted the most from baseball? Players and management. BASEBALL IS A GIMMICK!

Which Sox are going to be traded this summer?
Rowand44 replied to harfman77's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:53 PM) I just have to ask what people think is the long term solution at SS if Alexei is traded? We have several middle infield prospects that are good with the glove, but I don't see any that have the potential to regularly put up an OPS above .750, which is what Alexei seems to be on track for this year. When Alexei was struggling to get his OPS over .650, yes he was expendable, but I think the Sox really need to wait and see if the new Alexei is the real thing. Abreu-Eaton-Alexei and maybe Viciedo and/or AGarcia figure to be the core of this offense for several years. Finding a catcher and some left handed power (beyond this season) for LF, 1B, or DH are all this team lacks to having a really, really good lineup. Marcus is the possibility there. Not saying he IS the long term answer but he's the one where there's a chance. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) Maybe while trying to make someone look a fool This is beyond awesome coming from you.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 21, 2014 -> 10:23 AM) Whatever Rienzo is, and I don't think he's more than a #5, I have no problem watching him compete every fifth day. He makes me laugh but I love his fire. He's maybe a little overzealous with the fist pumps but at least he's (seemingly) stranding runners consistently. I'm not sure if he's a 4 or 5 but whatever it is I do think he's a very capable major league starter. Even if he's just a 5, being that he's so cheap, he's very valuable to us.
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 20, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) I mean, you can definitely make the upside argument, but he was also incredibly raw and his stock seemed to be slipping because of it. Obviously it looks silly in retrospect. I think I had him #2 before his college season but started dropping him like everyone else when he kept putting up like 8-6 every game. I don't think I'd have taken him over Beal or Barnes and MKG was an interesting argument (definitely not Beal, I liked him a lot). People loved the "motor" argument with Drummond. And Ya, I'm just talking about where Waiters was taken, Beal was my guy, I never understood why anyone had MKG ranked ahead of him.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) Seriously the no brainer is Parker with 1b being Wiggins. They'll take neither. Give me both Kansas guys over Parker.
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 20, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) Even scarier, Drummond over Waiters. A bit of a stretch admittedly, but they could have definitely used a big. They'll have to work to screw this one up. Wiggins and Parker are at least decent starters and Embiid could be a beast if he stays healthy. I don't really think that would have been a stretch. Barnes and Drummond has a ridiculous amount of upside and everyone knew that.
