Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) The problem is that we now know 2 guys who didn't vote for Maddux, and their reasoning was "because he pitched in the steroid era." That's a total BS, copout answer, and those people are just as guilty and fraudulent as Dan Le Batard. Eh, I love what Le Batard did.

Food thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) Lets do both. On my cheat day this weekend I am torn between Johnnies Beef and Five Guys. I've had five guys once and absolutely loved it, you'd think I'd go back more often.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) The Bulls have a President of Player operations who punched out a coach. Their medical staff nearly killed a player. The GM fired the coaches favorite assistant for talking s*** at a local charity event. They are not a well run organization. They do have a good mascot. Ya, there's stories coming out all over the place now how they're not really viewed in the most positive light.

Food thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 10:40 AM) Can we use this as a diet thread as well? I was about to start one particularly because I had a friend convince me to try the Paleo diet for the rest of the month. Is your friend a cross fitter? They live and die by that thing.

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Yeah, but if you work at a faster pace, and do 6 workouts a week, I think they should still be pretty effective. I took off essentially 3 months from working out and just played football once a week and my body has bounced back pretty well after just the first 4 workouts. I think I'll get some pretty solid results. You could obviously do doubles if you like. Due to hopping around jobs a little more than I wanted to this year, I've done the take a few months of a time off thing as well, takes my body about a week to get going again and I'm good to go after that.

Rick Hahn approval poll
I approve. I haven't loved every one one of his trades but when you look at the whole body of work, he clearly has a plan and I like the way he's going about things. And the Reed for Davidson deal is one of my favorite trades ever.

Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) I have a soft spot for them. They were close enough to school that I dig them plus you have to like "underdog who is no longer the underdog" type of stories. If Heads and Wite are rooting for the Clones, I shall most definitely root against them.

Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) You can take the kid out of the college, but can't take the college out of the kid. I can only imagine what you were saying... Nothing bad, just some good ol' fashioned heckling. He missed the first of two ft's that could have tied the game up at the end, when the coach pulled him I just yelled to him in a sarcastic tone "It's ok 32, you tried your best and that's all Jesus can ask of you" he shielded away from his coaches and flipped me off. I laughed. We were obnoxious of course but not in a violent, stupid way. We were right next to the Loyola bench(which includes Bryan Mullins as a coach) and we had those guys laughing the whole time. With there being so little people there you can really interact with the players because they can hear everything you say and it made for a really good time.

Brian, how dare you not tell people about my 15 seconds of fame tonight! Happy that we won a Valley road game and I got flipped off by a Loyola player at the end too which was nice. That game was much more fun than it should have been.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) After watching the Michigan State game tonight, I still can't believe they turned D. Bryan heel. He's officially over in mainstream sports now, that's a Vince wet dream. As a big college bball and wrestling fan that was extremely cool.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) Phoneix just looked absolutely terrible. Bulls up 5 with 37 seconds to go and the Bulls on the line. Snell looked really good again today. Bad Tank loss. But ya Snell has looked good when given minutes.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) Bring back team tank captain Teague! I'd give give him away and I'd also look into trading Dunleavy. Dunleavy would actually make sense for some contender out there you'd think.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) We got no worthwhile picks and saved some money this year. I realize the tankers are going to like it and if we end up with a great pick (by virtue of making the lottery), I suppose it works. But we clear Deng's money irregardless at year end and it is likely that we are getting 3 2nd round picks (plus the right to swap non-lottery picks with the Cavs in 2015). I'd have to think we could have at least gotten a legitimate future 1st for Deng. At this point, if we are truly tanking, we might as well amnesty boozer now. Is Noah going to get dealt? You would have to assume they went through all their offers and this one made the most sense. Hanging on to Lu just makes no sense.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) If the Bulls could clear Noah or Gibson off in exchange for an expiring, perhaps even while adding a draft pick somewhere, and put themselves in a position to offer a max deal while also signing Mirotic this offseason, and they hired our lord and savior Jesus Christ as their athletic trainer and had him rub DRose's knees up after every game, that "a while" could turn around really fast. It's the NBA, a while is one draft pick away especially if Derrick isn't completely broken.

It's cold outside
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 07:05 AM) I'm back at work today. Schools are all still closed. Yesterday at 6am temperature was +3 with wind chill of -25. Today at 6am temperature was -3 with wind chill of -19. Still not certain what made yesterday too cold to come to work but today not too cold. At least it should start getting a tad warmer today. But ya, it's still insane out there. The door to our apt was legit frozen shut this morning

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 12:22 AM) So...can we all take back the ridicule towards the FO for not making a deal? There was a lot of premature criticism up in here and the Bulls did a great job of not revealing their plan and not making a deal without getting what they were looking for, which is talent over savings. In the end, we got both. Great. All that for a freaking expiring contract. People tend to freak out. Like you did, I like to play the wait and see game but the Bulls front office has definitely earned their rep of sitting on their hands. This is a great deal. Well done.
