  1. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Jason posted this is the Pale Hose Forum, but I thought I'd put it here too b/c I know we have some people on here that might not necessarily follow the big league club, but do follow the Barons. Good luck with the interview, bro.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Tigers win...Sox lost after having one rough inning. Rubber game of the series tomorrow and it'll be a huge game. You know if the Tigers go on to do big things, Monroe's grandslam could be looked at as one of the key moments of the season. if the Sox go out tomorrow and take care of business, we could make it just another hit. I don't really buy into momentum too much in baseball. "Momentum is as good as your next days starting pitcher." IMO, that's mostly the truth. We just got to come out and take care of business. Absolutely huge game tomorrow.
  3. That one definitely hurts.
  4. Joe will tie this up, if we can get him up. Unfortunately, I don't think AJ is gonna get on.
  5. Cmon AJ. Give Joe a chance.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) PK juuust missed that. Jones is going to hurt this team in the long run. He stinks, but he sure does get the job done most of the time. He has as many blown saves as Papelbon.
  7. If only Todd Jones started the inning.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Not sure, one of the admins (probably Greasy) put it in there as some srot of prank. they like to mess with my sigs and avies from time to time for some reason.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Why shouldn't we be concerned Minnesota has crept within five games of us? Facing Liriano and Santana six times of the remaining twelve games should concern everyone, especially. I think he was doing the rolly eyes at the Widger stuff, not the Twins stuff.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) I really don't think thats it. I used to think it was the case but I saw enough reaction out of him to show that he does care. I have called the guy a "sissy" quite often and have went with the idea that he's scared on the mound at times. But really what he does is he gets overly eager and tries to over-throw. This works badly because he doesn't have the leg kick so his arm gets out of whack with his body and resulting to hanging the ball. Plus when he's overthrowing a breaking ball as is (even when he has his high leg kick which naturally keeps his arm more in check) he's going to roll it over because when you throw it too good (as Hersh mentioned on the telecast) you end up getting it to hang cause the ball doesn't get the desired spin. He cares too much, Jas. He gets too down on himself when he makes one bad pitch(in this case the pudge rolling curve is what got it going) and that just leads to a big inning. It's happened a ton this season.
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) s***ting yourself at the hint of a pressure situation doesn't bode well for the playoffs... Ya, like game 7 of the 04 alcs. BTW, supposedly there is 2 waves going around at Comerica now. That must be fun.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) AJ may be calling the wrong pitches, but its Vazquez's game, and he can always shake him off. Once again, I want to say that I'm in no way blaming AJ. Just people go nuts after Widge for less. Now back to your regularly scheduled Javy bashing.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) I would be very very shocked if Javy is moved. If the right deal came along sure...but this team is not actively shopping him like it is another starter. *HINT* GARCIA */HINT* I really don't think Javy is going anywhere either but I've definitely read different. We'll see, all I know is I want Brandon in the rotation one way or another.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) I put my head down once there was contact, and didn't bother seeing the replay. Same.
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) why is it that kenny is reluctant to trade javy?i dont care if pitching is very valuable, etc. he plain and simple sux. u have to trade this guy. shoot, i dont care if it were to a team that we could face in the playoffs or something. i would love it if the sox faced this guy... We have no idea if Kenny is reluctant to trade Javy. From everything I've read, he's been shopping him.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) He didn't call a curveball. He called the slider that everybody is clammoring for. He just hung the hell outta it. Looked like a curve to me. Anyways, I was just thinking earlier that AJ has called a lot of curves for Javy with 2 strikes..probably because Javy really does love that pitch. I'm not pinning blame on AJ, just saying that if Widger is behind the plate, he gets torched like hell on here.
  17. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) guys i missed the earlier discussion, but was there a good reason as to why Mack was in CF instead of Anderson? Yes, Bonderman is right handed with good stuff. That's it, no good reason.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) I say this respectively, but Ozzie/KW got greedy when they added him. They got addicted to the thought of "the greatest rotation ever". I highly doubt they would have made the trade if they knew Garland/Contereras would re-sign. They wouldn't have made that trade. That's not being greedy though, that's being smart. They saw something in Vaz they thought they could fix, unfortunately Coop ain't a brain surgeon. Kenny wanted at least 4 starters for next season including Mac and it ended up that Jon and JC re-signed(thank god).
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) I thought Javy had good stuff tonight. Too bad he chose that pitch. It was a bad bad call by he or AJ or both. But he pitched well tonight. Well I will say that AJ has to stop calling that damn curveball. If Widger was behind the plate tonight there would be about a million threads about how bad he is. That being said, Vaz can't execute a pitch in a big situation..just ask the yankees.
  20. We know he does. We can all rant in the game thread.
  21. Well this game has shown me that Javy really can't help us this year. I thought maybe if you get his confidence up after pitching a solid few innings that he would get something going. Obviously he can't do it. This guy has the mental capacity of a two year old. Mac needs to get into this rotation one way or another.
  22. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Vasquez has shown a pair so far this inning. That's at least a positive sign. He made one bad pitch and pudge hit it. Besides that though, you're right he's making pitches. If he can get out of it, I'll be pretty impressed. He has to get out of it though.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) No. He is not THAT much faster than Mack. ANd Mack got a solid jump. It's not about speed. First off, Mack froze for a split second which Brian probably wouldn't have done. Second, Brian plays much more in than Mack. Brian gets to that ball with no trouble.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Would Anderson have gotten to that? There's no doubt. Not only would he have got a much better read but he also plays much more shallow.
