Soriano Rumors: Part Deux
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) Well, the salaries REALLY start adding up when you have Soriano's $13+ million contract and Crede's likely $8+. You also have a ton of money coming off the books after 07 which could be used to sign Joe long term. I really don't think having Soriano would end up effecting Joe.

Soriano Rumors: Part Deux
QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) if we resign Soriano, does that mean crede gone. Re-signing Soriano would have nothing to do with Joe.

Longer rotation
QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) it has been shown before that the 6 man rotation just doesn't work. The obvious answer here is just to switch bmac and javy, it's definitely worth a shot in my mind. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen any time soon.

The Real Culprit Since the ASB
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) But since you bolded the runs per game since the ASB, don't forget the 5.61 era our staff is sporting over the same period. How about everything is bad lately. Correct. The difference is that this is just a few week dry spell from the offense, this has been a whole year thing for the pitching, especially Freddy and Javy. The offense will be fine, I have no faith in Javy and Freddy on the other hand.

And That's A White Sox Loss

Ozzie has lost his way
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Steff there's no big drama about why Dye was out. He was getting a day off because he had played a lot and had whiffed four times in the game before. Incorrect.

If the Sox Get Soriano...
QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) What about acquiring Pierre to play Center and lead off the rest of the season? CF Pierre LF Soriano DH THome 1B Konerko RF Dye 2B Iguchi C Pierzynski 3B Crede SS Uribe Hopefully after those moves we weould still have BA as a defensive replacement for Piere late in the game No.

White Sox close to acquiring Soriano
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Additionalluy, I would not be surprised to still see Brandon shipped out. For a while there yesterday, I thought he was already a goner. Hopefully he can find a ride to the airport if he does get traded.

Ozzie has lost his way
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) I know, I'm just curious what the official excuse was. This "God" complex is getting out of hand. It's going to blow up soon, and it aint going to be pretty. Very soon.

Ozzie has lost his way
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:55 AM) But Ozzie doesn't look at stats -- he goes with his gut! Because it worked so well with Neal Cotts against Texas. I know you're being sarcastic but it's not even about looking at stats, that move was common sense imo. Seemed like an obvious decision to me, but I guess I was wrong. Anyways, I think I've b****ed enough about everything, so I'll let it go now.

Was McDougal worth Lumsden?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) He could absolutely, but he'll need to show next season an increased K rate in AAA I would imagine. What do you think is fair value for Lumsden BTW Rowand, if you had to pick an available player that would fit the need of this team instead of MacDougall? That's a good question and to be honest, I don't have a good answer right now. I know it's nice for me to play fantasy gm and not even come up with a plausible idea but I just have a real bad feeling about this deal. I do know one thing though, Mike is going to make me nervous everytime out there, just waiting for another injury. Hopefully I'm wrong about this whole thing, I just don't like trading our best minor league arm for a guy who makes Kerry Wood's mechanics look good, and yes I stole that line from Steve Stone.

Teams that could be interested in Javy or Freddy
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:40 AM) You have to remember also that trading Freddy now frees up $9M for the payroll next season. That money can be put towards the FA market. Maybe a guy like Frankie Francisco could interest the Sox as well. He was part of the Everett trade and was a very good reliever before that "incident" and then he got injured IIRC. 10 actually.

Was McDougal worth Lumsden?
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:37 AM) Rotoworld predicted that Lumsden would be nothing more than a 4th starter. I wonder what various people here think about that prediction? Maybe, however he could be much better than that. My problem with it, is that we traded our best arm for a reliever with a very non impressive history. We got very little value for Lumsden imo and I think we could have done much more to improve our team for this season with Tyler than to add Macdougal.

Ozzie has lost his way
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:20 AM) Ozzie had Cotts warming up before the 6th inning when Vazquez had a shutout going. He was prepared for a Javy meltdown. And Mauer was hitting poorly vs LHP this yr [like .266]. Having Cotts face him was the right thing to do. Try .372.

Ozzie has lost his way
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) Absolutely. Curious, since I was at the game and didn't hear, what was the BS reason Dye was out of the lineup? Pssh, you know this answer.

And That's A White Sox Loss
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) Well, Cuddyer did hit a 470+ foot bomb earlier in the game... So what? Mauer is a much, much better hitter. This was a pretty obvious move imo to ibb him and it wasn't made. I was calling for it at the time(and others from this site could back that up) and it's still bugging me now.

If the Sox Get Soriano...
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) I'm gonna throw this out there, but it's purely a hunch on my part. Kenny's been talking about a "big" deal and knowing how he works under the radar, this has been swimming around my brain as the type of deal Kenny would make. I'm talking about KW getting Soriano and then flipping him to Seattle for ... wait for it ... Ichiro. It's the type of thing KW would do. Yas, why would Seattle trade for a rent a player when they just signed Ichiro to a long term deal?

Tomorrows Game
I miss the days when I had good feelings about this team.

State of the System
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) I saw the logic in them though and while he overpaid, he did fill a need (RH Reliever) by getting us MacDougal. But for how long, jas? This guy just has such a violent delivery that I basically never think he's going to remain healthy and history isn't on his side either. Like I said in the trade thread, I have absolutely no problem trading our top prospects but I do have a problem trading them for a guy like this. I just don't see Mike lasting more than about 3 weeks before he ends up back on the dl. This trade is going to hurt imo.
-
And That's A White Sox Loss
The Mauer ab is what really got to me this game. I was calling for a ibb right as 2nd base was stolen. Ozzie had to play the damn match up game and pitch to one of the best hitters in baseball with Michael Cuddyer on deck. Unbelievable.

Sox get Mike MacDougal for Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes
QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) To be honest, I don't give a damn about our 'spects. Even if you don't, we could have got a hell of a lot more for Lumsden than a guy that can't stay off the dl. I just see this trade backfiring and big time. I have absolutely no problem trading prospects but I feel this was a completely horrid way to do so. Prove me wrong Mike.
