Official Cheer Frank Thomas Tomorrow Thread
Rowand44 replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Frank and Garland hanging out, awkward. Ha, I actually just told greasy that I can't imagine Frank and Garland being friends. -
QUOTE(greg775 @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Cotts may have stunk after the fact but he's out of the inning obviously if Juan doesn't blow that easy d.p. relay. It is alarming the meat Cotts threw up there after the error, but technically that inning is over, then it's Jenks time. Correct BUT that doesn't get Neal off the hook. You have to pitch over errors because they're apart of baseball. He didn't today and that's going to happen but this game is as much on him as it's on Juan, if not more.

QUOTE(Beltin @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) I will trust those who say Mack got a good jump Thinking back on it, I think a good way to put it is: that mack got a good jump put took a bad angle. BA might have got there but who knows.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) We were on CSN on Friday. Ok, there goes my theory.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Haha. For the future, you may want to check the schedule. But when CSN came around last year, if the game wasn't national, the Sox were on one channel, while the Cubs were on the other. CSN has the away broadcast, wgn the home I believe.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Take another look at that play. Mack underestimated the length of the drive and had to adjust his route to the ball, which prevented him from getting there. Anderson puts it in his hip pocket. eh, I'll take your word for it. I was on the complete opposite side of the field high in the UD. From my point of view it looked like he got a pretty good job, but I'll believe you cause it is hard to judge the depth of a ball from high in the UD.

QUOTE(Beltin @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) I hate second guessing managers during the course of the season, but I have to ask...What Ozzie was thinking in the 8th inning today? It was a smart move to keep BA out of the lineup today for several reasons. However, with a 2 run lead and 2 innings to go, I was baffled that Mackowiak was still in center field that late in the game with a decent lead. It was bad enough that he left Cotts in for two batters too many but I do believe the Sox still could have gotten out of the jam with a one run lead if they had their best defense out their in crunch time. Mackowiak did not stand a chance to catch Barrett's eventual triple. If they keep putting BA's struggling bat in the regular line-up because of his stellar defense, shouldn't he definitely be in there late in a tight game to help hold the lead? Mack actually got a really good jump on that ball, I don't think Brian would have got to it either. As far as leaving Neal in too long, I disagree. I usually don't agree with what Ozzie does with the pen but Neal is our best reliever and can get lefties and righties out, the 8th should be his imo, lefty or righty. He just completely imploded after the error, that's all on him. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Personally, I thought Contreras should've been left in. Ozzie wasn't going to let JC get the L, that's how Ozzie manages.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) I'd say you're doing a good impersonation of Mariotti at this forum thus far. LOL, so true.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) The funny thing about him is that he does not speak his mind at all, he actually takes the exact opposite side of what everyone thinks is correct on purpose so people will read his column either to rip him for being a dumb ass or for "speaking his mind" as some actually think he believes the s*** he writes. Either way the Sun-Times does sell papers and a whole lot of people sure do talk about his column, so it must be working for him. Bingo and well said.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) And they both throw hard enough to cause damage. Do you think Boone could hit the guy?
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) This was an obvious attempt by mariotti to start some s***. There is no way in hell that AJ can be blamed for this. If Barrett didn't want to be flattened because he didn't have the ball, he should have gotten the f*** out of the way. It's been said AJ bumped him just before the punch. The way i saw it was that AJ tried to avoid contact and get to his helmet. Barrett was looking to start some s***. I totally believe that. In fact, that thought crossed my mind at the time I saw the play. Barrett grabbed him before AJ even had a chance to bump him. Also, it's pretty damn obvious that he's trying to get around him to get him helmet. We need to have Brian take care of Mariotti one of these days.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Nice avy BigSqwert. That's seriously awesome.

QUOTE(SnB @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) this is probably the worst post in the history of soxtalk Not probably.

What was pathetic is how rattled Hill was by the whole situation and because of that he gave up a meatball to Tad.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 21, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) I find that interesting because by all means Tracey in a season or 2 could become a real asset out of the pen with his stuff. But can the Sox bank on his control picking up out of the pen, when he's been doing much better as a starter down at Charlotte. Church just intrigues me a lot especially when he's put up a +.800 OPS last season and this season so far, down at RFK which is not a hitters stadium by any stretch of means. But as we're talking about bullpen guys; Sounds like the perfect White Sox Reliever. He's dominated in AAA with a 1.42 ERA in 2004 and 1.93 ERA in 2005, that success just hasn't translated over to the majors. I think we've got a few vacancies on the 40 man roster still as well. If no other team before the White Sox doesn't claim him (which I can't see personally), we should be all over this guy IMHO. Here's why I said no: though Church is a solid player I don't think you can trade a guy with Tracey's stuff for just a bench player. I'm in no means opposed to trading Tracey but I think if we're going to trade him we need to get something that can really help us this year, like finding a very solid reliever. JMO but I don't want to trade Tracey for a bench player.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 20, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Rich Hill "It was a dirty play." Konerko "I think he should look at the replay." Ozzie before the postgame "Who's Rich Hill?" LOL. During the postgame press conference Ozzie said something like "the pitcher, I forgot his name" blah blah blah but that's like the ultimate insult, had me laughing hysterically.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 20, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) Yeah Jim Bowden got to call up his "favorite" prospect Alex Escobar. Might as well try to do it before you get fired I suppose. So if you're going to get Church, now would be the perfect time. Would you do Sean Tracey for Church for example? No.

QUOTE(SnB @ May 20, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) the wink smilies are intriguing Ha, everyone was just fired up and I accidentally broke one of the barriers on the concourse. It was fun.
-
QUOTE(SnB @ May 20, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) his jumping punches are brilliant You should have been down there with Brian and I during the brawl, good stuff.
-
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 20, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) If you watch it in slow mo you will see BA comes charging in full speed and gives Barrett a 1-2 with both fists.....(responsible for the nice little cut/bruise uder Mikes eye)....thats really what knocked them both over They were already going down but ya Anderson did come out of no where and nailed barrett.
-
I was very impressed today. He's got a lot of proving to do to me but I was definitely happy with what I saw today.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 20, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) what happened? e6 for the tigers win.:headshake

I swear, if Weathers blows this game, I'm going all Brian Anderson on him.
