  1. Barons 9 West Tenn 1 W-Tracey (6-1) L- Hill (4-3) Liked how the Barons hung in there with Rich Hill the K leader in the Minors. Tracey Matched Hill 0 for 0 and Tracey was bothered by a virus and was only 70% for this game. I just can't say enough about Trace outing tonight. Tracey went 6 innings only allowed 3 hits (to the League's best hitting team) walked 3 Struck out 7. Andy Gonzalez looks like he loves the 2 hole on base 4 times tonight Homered over the Barons Clubhouse in deep left field Doubled off the Left Field wall and Drew a key walk which set up the put away drive. Sweeney had 3 hits today scored 2 runs drove in 2. Barons hitters Struck out 17 times tonight and D-Jaxx hitters struck out 13 times. Villcais on the mound tomorrow
  2. Hill Strikeouts 4 in the inning one Wild Pitch Hill Now has 14 K's Through 6, Tracey has 7 But more Important owns a 4-0 Lead
  3. Gonzo Homers on the first pitch off the Club House in Left Field. Then Sweeney Lines out and Fields, Rogoswski Strike Out to make it 10 for Hill
  4. What a game in Jackson, Tracey vs Minor League Strike Outleader Rich Hill. Barons jump on Hill in the first for 3 runs but the last 7 Barons have went down on K's Hill has 9 through 4 innings. Tracey has a 1 hitter with 6 K's through 4
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) BHam (Tom), when you see this thread -- have you talked to Jenks yourself? If so (or if you've talked to someone like the manager), how's Jenks' attitude/mentality? I'm not sure if you'd know this, but are they keeping (somewhat) tabs on him to make sure he keeps himself out of trouble? I commend Williams on a job well done this offseason as far as some minor league pickups. Jenks and Owens have been awesome. I have talked with Rich Dotson the pitching coach and Bobby is greatful that the sox's have given him this chance and now that he has been cut now knows he can take nothing for granted he is actually very soft spoken and is working on his weight problem lost 15 pounds since joining the sox's and is at the park working with Dotson and conditioning coach Joe Geck.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Meaning there's no pressure on Crede to hit like a decent major leaguer. I just heard that Josh lost his best Friend in college killed by a drunk driver a couple weeks ago and it is really effecting him. I hope Josh gets a few days off so he can recover I have lost a friend to a drunk driver and the pain is awful I feel for you Josh
  7. Barons 7 Tennessee 3 Sorry no write up today was in Montgomery to watch the Biscuits made it all an day trip to the capital city. I was there to see a game that matched up the best prospects in all of the minors in Joel Guzman vs Delmon Young. The game was a complete blowout as the Jacksonville Suns in the 8th inning sent 19 Men to the plate and scored 13 runs in a 19-2 killing. Guzman went 2-4 2 RBI, Young was 1-4 with a long homerun.
  8. Barons 8 Tennessee 4 W-Malone L- Pena Barons took advantage of the wildness of Tony Pena and when Pena threw a strike it was hit hard. Chris Young hit a Ball onto I-40 and also hit a ringing double. Owens 3-5 on base 4 times also showed off a little power with a Double. Rogo now has a 7 game hit streak and hit in 9 out of his last 10. Gonzo had 3 hits tonight on base 4 times I think Razor has the line up he was looking for with 2 OBP guys to start. Corwin Malone is getting stronger by the outing he is now able to throw his hammer when ever he chooses with no pain and feel comfortable using it. Corwin now has 3 pitches he can use when he wants. Meaux was good again in Relief. Heath Phillips (0-0 0.96 ERA) takes the mound tomorrow against Matt Chico (1-7 7.19 ERA)

  17. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 25, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Ian Snell is owning the Knights, 1 hit against through 6. Not surprising the way he has been pitching lately. He had a no-no not long ago I think
  18. Indianapolis 2 Charlotte 0 Top 7th Birmingham 6 Tennessee 2 Top 6th Winston-Salem 3 Mrytle Beach 2 FINAL W- Haigwood (6-1) L-Villa (2-3) Kannapolis 7 Savanah 4 Top 9th
  19. QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) the way some leagues are spread out makes it very difficult at times, for example, teams with affiliates in the PCL, Pioneer league, etc... However, the Sox definitely like to have their minor league affiliates as close as they are. W-S, Charlotte, and Kanny are all within short driving distance of eachother, making roster moves easier, and it is much easier on roving instructors, etc... Bristol and Birmangham aren't terribly far either, but it's not nearly as convenient as the 3 aforementioned locations... The Sox's have a pretty good setup compared to the West Coast Teams that have Caly League and PCL Teams it is really hard to place there AA and Low A teams
  20. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 25, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) One would think; yet, some have minor league affilities much further away than others. Perhaps that's simply because that's the best location for that team for whatever reason, wheter it be financial or other. The Caly League really is what really messes up a lot of Big League Teams even if you are a West Coast Team there is no AA league close to California the Texas League is the closest league and their team is 1700 Miles away. The Sox's affilates Kanny, Winston, Bham, Charlotte all very close trips
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 25, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Is there any correlation between the major league ball club and its minor league affilities proximity? Are there any advantages to either being close or far? Big League Clubs want their farm teams as close together as they can get, so they can move players easier.
  22. Barons 1 Tennessee 0 W- Lubisich (6-3) L- Goocher (4-2) Sv-Jenks (11) Lubisich 6.2IP 9H 0R 1BB 0K's Goocher 9IP 4H 1R 1BB 3K's Rogo a 3 hit game a Triple Short of the cycle his Home Run only run scored today. Lubisich was on his game keeping the ball down using his plus pickoff move twice to get Jared Ball. LaMura came in and fanned Mike Derosa on 4 pitches to finish Lubby's outing. Reynoso came in threw nothing but quality strikes. Jenks simply overmatched the Smokies in the 9th Throwing 8 pitches 7 Swings and Misses 1 grounder to 2nd. Corwin Malone on the mound tomorrow
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Was Rogo's 3-3 a solid one, i.e. is he hitting the ball hard? I saw he walked as well. .331 is impressive. I thought so Hard Grounder to right, Double off the CF wall Long Home-Run to Right
  24. QUOTE(minorsfan @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Barons win 1-0 Rogo goes 3-3 with single, double and game winning homer. C What Relief Pitching Tonight. I liked Razor's call of going with LaMura to Reynoso to get to Jenks instead of Meaux because the smokie hitters have seen nothing but the slower stuff all night then bring in 3 fireballers They had no chance out of 7 outs by the BP 5 were K's
