A pic of Smokies Park. AKA Coors Field East
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Thanks for the great info, Jim and Tom. Tom, how hard does Reynoso throw? While I'm not the biggest fan of just 'velocity' alone, it'll be nice to have a couple of fireballers in the Sox 'pen (hopefully) in the coming years. I have Reynoso hitting 96 6 times this season. I will have to look what batters they were to Chris Ashby Carolina Ground Out 4-12 Ryan Theriot West Tenn Flyout 5-4 Jeff Francouer Mississippi K 5-10 Russell Martin Jacksonville Groundout 5-14 Fernado Cortez Montgomery K 6-1

Barons 14 Tennessee 7 W-Phillips (2-0) L- Pena (0-7) Smokies Park played like Coors Field East today. The Barons smacked 4 homeruns tonight (C.Young, G.Reyes, C.Stewart, J. Fields) Josh Homered for the 3rd time in 2 games on a missle to Right Field pitch was a slider down and away. Josh also walked had a single to center and was robbed on a great diving catch by RF Jon Zeringue, Josh also made a great bare handed off balance throw to retire Jesus Cota. Chris Young Homered to left to begin a 6 run 2nd for the Barons, Chris was 2-4 with a HR and a 2B plus a walk with 3 runs scored. Chris also stole his 8th base. Jerry Owens had a 3-5 night Owens missed his first homerun of the season by 2 feet as the ball bounced off the wall. Casey had a 2-5 game with a Double off the RF wall that drove in 2. Cory Haggerty had a 2-4 game with a couple of RBI. Reyes with the Homerun also reached base 3 times and scored twice drove in 2. Stewart also with a Homerun reached base 3 times drove in 2 scored 2 runs. Only pitching note Bobby Jenks came in the 9th and hit 100 MPH on a strike out of Marland Williams Bobby now has K'd 15 Smokies this season out of 19 Batters faced. Tracey on the mound tomorrow.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Just as impressive as the 2 HR's are the 2 walks... I hope this helps him turn it around because it seems today he was seeing the ball better. That is why I wrote that hopeing somebody would notice that.

Barons 9 Tennessee 4 W-Reynoso L- White First and foremost Josh Fields breaks out of a big slump with two 400+ shots to Left Field. Josh also drew a pair of walks on pitches low and away. Reynoso came in and bailed the Barons out of a big LaMura jam where he gave up 3 runs and left 1st and 2nd 0 out, Reynoso got a DP and a comebacker to end the threat. With the Barons down 4-2 in the 7th Barons recived a huge gift from the Smokies that they would cash in on an error by 2B Dan Uggla loaded up the bases for Jerry Owens who after fouling off 4 3-2 pitches took a pitch way inside for Ball 4, Then Aceves doing a veteran move danced off the 3rd base bag and the pitcher Sikras stoped in mid motion an a balk was called by Plate Umpire Brandon Bushee which tied the game at 4-4. The Big momentum turner was Reynoso in the 8th sent the smokies heart of the order down 1-2-3 one on strike's. The Barons in the 8th got a one out walk by Rogo followed by a walk to Chris Young then Josh took 2 breaking balls off the outside edge and the 2-0 down the middle Josh Launched a ball over the scoreboard toward I-40. The inning continued with Jonathan Aceves reaching on a error by LF Jared Ball Cory Haggerty took the next pitch out for his second homer.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Tom, How's Fields doin on the pitch low and away still. IIRC you said that was his main problems a week or 2 back, which was the same problem A-Row had early last year. If he trying to pull the ball too much, or is hitting the opposite way on that pitch? Yesterday he looked a lot better he hit a single to Right and Drilled a ball 360ft to the wall in RF

Montgomery 7 Barons 0 W- Autrey L- Villcais Not much good in this game, Both Eduardo and Ryan Meaux were roughed up. Delmon Young is an awsome player has all the tools and will be ready soon for Tampa. Barons 3 Montgomery 1 W-Lubisich (7-3) L- Shields (0-1) Sv- Jenks (13) Lubisich was outstanding tonight ahead of every hitter had a great sinker nothing hit hard gave up 3 hits 2 infield. Andy Gonzalez had 2 great games hit the ball hard and played some great Defense, One on a deflection off villcais glove reached out barehanded snaged the ball while still holding the bag then threw flat footed to 1st for a DP. Also made a great throw from the hole 10 feet into LF to nail a runner. Also had 4-6 day at the plate with a long triple and crushed the ball today really likeing the 2 hole. Jerry Owens had a couple hits including a Triple love to watch him run. Josh Fields showed some signs of life a base hit to right drove a ball to the wall in both right and left field.

I really like the idea of having Chavez at the Hot corner but I think we can get him for less than B-mac. Bmac should be the absolute last resort in trading.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Yes, I'd be willing to bet he'd improve here also. But I would not be willing to bet Brandon McCarthy that he'll turn around. Thank You -

Awsome Rickwood Field before rain. Just to walk on that field and know that Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron all played on this field it is awsome.

Montgomery 3 Barons 1 W-Henderson L- Jenks Rogowski had 2 doubles tonight one to each field. Philips was on yet again 1 run in 7 innings run came on a mishandled ball at 3rd a dropped line drive. Chris Young had a chance to win it in the 7th runner at 3rd 1 out and Chris grounded out weak to 3rd. Josh Fields continues to have no idea at the plate right now a good Fields AB is to make contact which he did 2 times out of 8 tonight. 66 K's now. Jenks gave up a couple loopers then an Aceves passed ball and swinging bunt plated both runners. Only 4 hits for montgomery but took advantage of every scoring opportunity. Montgomery 4 Barons 1 W-Hammel L- Tracey Gonzo and Jerry Owens had a 2 hit games. Tracey pitched well getting 7 K's Made one bad pitch to Delmon Young but is there really a bad pitch to this guy. There was a fight between Tracey and Elijah Dukes in the 5th after Dukes was hit by a pitch after the half inning ended Dukes shoved tracey in the chest and then Tracey unloaded on Dukes, Dukes on top of getting the worst of the fight also was thrown out of the game.
