Barons 7 Chattanooga 5 (10) W-Pollok (2-2) L- Salmon (1-4) What an exciting game to watch the fans got every cent worth. Clutch 2 out RBI hits were the name of the game starting in the 1st when Darren Blakely drilled a single, In the 3rd Gonzo drilled a ball over the LF wall, The lookouts got a 2 out RBI single D'Angelo Jimenez (Yes the same D' Angelo), The lookouts added a 2 more in the 7th with 2 outs on a 2 run Double by Steve Smitherman to make it 5-3. The looks then tied the game on a 2 run 2 out single by Rick Asadoorian. The Barons in the 10th scored 2 runs all with 2 out the rally started with an Antoin Gray then Jerry Owens came in to Pinch Run and Pedro Lopez stroked an RBI triple to right then Chris Young stroked an RBI double his 27th off the season off the LF wall. Pollok got through a shaky 10th with the bases loaded got Jeff Bannon to hit into a 5-4-3 DP to end it. This game had 2 differnet Strike Zone's tonight as Ria Cortesio continues to hold a grudge against Razor Shines. Chattanooga pitchers got an extra couple inches on each corner while the Barons had to throw pitches almost down broadway to get a strike called. Several Baron's came close to getting tossed Chris Stewart after a 3-2 missed the plate outside or that is what she said Stewart took the ball slammed it against his shin guard and both Razor Shines and Bobby Jenks had heated discusions with the Ump

The conspirator will go on trial next month hopefully a different Jury who will actually uphold the laws. The Jury in this case overstepped its bounds they found him guilty of capital murder and the crimes fit the state of Alabama statutes on the death penalty (Murder + Class a Felony). The Jury made their own laws which is disappointing

Chattanooga 10 Barons 1 W- Dumtrait (2-8) L- Philips (4-1) Nothing good to say about this game Heath was rocked, Not much hitting outside of Gonzo and Aceves both 2-4. LaMura was rocked as well again for the love of god when will this kid wake up and realize what he has. A very short bullpen tomorrow behind Corwin could be a problem.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Cable TV, weights, exercise rooms and basketball courts, law libraries. and sometimes even conjugal visits and assorted contraband of the legal and illegal varieties. What do the dead cops get? Nothing but a department funeral lucky for the thug he got a jury from Mobile area becuase there were not familiar with the case if the jury had been from BHAM he would on his way to Ole Smoky.

The crime happened 1 year ago today I was a block away at Rickwood Field. And according to the officers who arrived as backup the crime scene was something out of a horror show 2 of the officers head's were completely blown off. The 4th officer who lived will never walk again. This is a crime where Ole Smoky should be put to use and hopefully the judge will overturn the Jury's recommendation

State of Alabama said the cost of keeping him in a cell will run $137 per day I did some math and saying the thug lives 60 Yrs 60 X 365 also add in around 15 leap years so he will live around 21,915 days at $137 per= $3,002,355. This also wasn't much of a trial with the Defendent wanting to plead guity but state law requires a trial on capital cases. Trial lasted around 2 weeks. In his confession to police he said "if I had more bullets and more people or cops were around they would be in boxes as well".

QUOTE(56789 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Yea, So let the guy spend the next 60 years in jail getting raped and living horribly then probably dieing in a more painful way than lethal injection. Alabama still has Ole Smoky one can only hope that while in Prison a guard slips him a little posion in his lunch since he has to have a private cell

QUOTE(56789 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) IMO life in jail is worse than the death penalty, especially if he is only 25. These cops were mutilated to the point that families couldn't even see the bodies at the service shot over 20 times a piece.

This makes me sick this thug with his sub machine gun mowed down 4 cops seriously hurt another the Jury convicts on Capital Murder but then do a 180 and give 4 life sentences. I am not sure why the jury did this

Wednesday, June 22, 2005 Jury recommends life for police killer A Jefferson County jury today recommended sparing the life of convicted police killer Kerry Spencer, 25, of Birmingham. The jury recommended four sentences of life without parole, instead of the death penalty. They reached their decision about 2 p.m. after 2½ days of deliberating his punishment. They convicted him on Sunday in the shooting deaths of three Birmingham police officers and the attempted shooting of a fourth officer last June at an apartment in the Ensley neighborhood. Circuit Judge Tommy Nail, who has the right to reject the jury’s recommendation, will formally sentence Spencer on Sept. 9.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Am I looking to far into age then?? I really haven't seen him play that much and I know he's been damn good this year I just saw he was 26 and thought maybe he really didn't belong in this game. In this case yes normally I would totally agree with you but he his game has improved steadily. He still owns the Longest HR at the Met with 500 ft+ shot into the soccer fields off BMAC. I think he gets traded in deal to bring FLA some help.

QUOTE(Fotop @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Haeger's First start in AA, right? 5IP, 6H, 4ER, 3BB, 1K, 0HR Not bad for a debut, plus he got the win! EDIT: In the box score it also lists C next to his name...did he catch today as well? If so that'd be kind of odd. Btw, Fields w/3hits today...maybe he's turning it around. Oh the C stands for Charles

Barons 7 Chattanooga 5 W-Haeger L- Basham Haeger in his AA debut pitched outstanding through the first 4 innings lost his touch a little in the 5th and completely in the 6th but all in all a good job by Charlie. Dwyane Pollok came in the 6th in 5-2 game with bases loaded and 0 out Pollok allowed 2 of those runs to score on a bloop single and Sac Fly ended up going 3 innings giving up 1 run on a pair of hits. Paulino Reynoso came and finished the 9th giving up a bunt single. Good hitting today Gonzo 2-5, Blakely 2-5 3 Run HR, Aceves continued his torrid strech with a 4-5 game this week Ace was 14-17 (.825 BA) HR 7 RBI's. Cory Haggerty had a 2-5 game with a couple of clutch singles Cory has had some big hits this season.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) why the heck is Josh Willingham in it?? Willingham is an awsome catcher. Got to see him last season he will be a good one for years to come.

Barons 3 Chattanooga 1 W-Tracey (7-3) L-Hall Sv-Jenks (16) Great Pitching from Tracey didn't have a huge number of K's but had great command. Young had a long homerun that he hooked just fair into the LF corner. Owens had a 3-4 game and Rogo had another good game. Pedro Lopez drove in games first run with a double. Barons had to battle both Lookouts and the Umpiring crew that has given us trouble all year were at it again tonight. The one I loved was Ryan Sweeney being called out at the plate when the catcher had the ball come out of his mitt and Sweeney already touched the plate before the throw even arrived at the plate. Hager goes tomorrow good luck with Ria behind the plate.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) So why is Jenks in the boxscore for the Barons in tonight's game??? I see the Sox's did a 180 on this one. And I am glad they did there isn't enough chances for Baj as is much less adding another all-star closer. -
Sounds like the crew the Barons have struggle with. They will go out of their way to make sure the Barons will lose that includes changeing the rules.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Birmingham rained out. We had an off day today

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) You would have yesterday....... I love Minor League ball, but they can make a baseball game turn into a 3 1/2 hour borefest sometimes. Yesterday was a borefest no doubt about it.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Hypothetically, even with edwin encarnacion the Reds would do a Randa for Crede swap right? The Reds are grooming Edwin to be the future 3rd baseman as is so I believe they would do

B.J.'s biggest problem is trusting his stuff he thinks he has to throw his Fastball even harder put more bite on his curve when he does not need to. When he goes and "just pitches" he can strike out the best hitters in the league. Great stuff if he just starts to trust it. Hope that helps
