QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) all I can think about is that huge jack he hit off of us in ST to straight center field, damn Prince had several Bombs against the Barons last year including a couple to center and a 482 Foot blast agaist Arnie Munoz.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Kris Honel is coming back, and seriously let's hope he can still make it. There's hope yet, even thought there wasn't much light left in the tunnel about a month ago. It sure looks like he coming back after looking bad in the 2nd inning he got the Strike out of Marlin Williams then a double play from Noochie Varner. Lots of Astro scouts at the game yesterday

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Hey Bham, I saw where you mentioned he hit 90 on the gun his last outing (the time before this one). Is his starting to consistently throwing the 86-89 MPH range and is that knuckle curve starting to get its bite back? He was in the 88 Range yesterday all 5 innings yesterday and after the first couple innings got the Knuckle Curve working and it had some serious bite.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) BHAM, is Kris's velocity starting to climb or what have you noticed different about him the last 2 outings then what he was doing earlier in the season? Velocity is up 6-7 MPH and gaining more confidence and would have a couple more wins if not for Reynoso

Tennessee 5 Barons 4 W-Silva (1-0) L- Reynoso (3-2) Sv Diagle Great start by Kris Honel but for a 2nd straight time Paulino Reynoso comes and gives up both runs and 2 others as well. 9th inning comeback fell 3 inches short as Reyes Drove a ball 384 feet to Right but Jon Zerigue made a game saving over the shoulder grab. Darren Blakely had 2 hits including an RBI double in the 9th. Chris Young Started the rally by drawing a one out walk. Barons fall 1/2 game behind white hot Jacksonville

QUOTE(bulokis @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Im still rooting for Honel also. Good start today. Good start ruined by Reynoso for a second straight outing.

I still hope Champion gets overuled on this one for the benefit of the Sox's and Bobby Jenks. I am not convinced that he is mentaly ready for the big leagues. I agree with a callup but not to the Sox's. Baj should be first

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) And meanwhile Travis Hinton the PTBNL in the Carlos Lee deal (who also plays first base), has splits of .258/.341/.500. That is why Rogo can move up and so can Diagle
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Just don't let him get drunk and leave a lighter sitting around near him... By the way, has Jenks lost any weight lately or is he still Wickman-esque? He's lost about 20 pounds still 275 range
-
I think Bobby has Major League stuff, But I have serious doubts about his Mental state
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) You guys are acting like wohlers was a scrub his whole career. He has a good string of three or four years in a row. I would take a wholers type of pitcher that we basically got for free. I would too I used Wolhers because of mental collapse great stuff then completely collapse
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Jenks' ERA is down to 2.87 after last night, just to correct my earlier 3.00 ERA stat. He now has 15 saves for Birmingham and he blew only 1 save, correct? Yes on a Squeeze then he lost control and gave up a ton of runs
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) Kenny must be hoping for his own poor man's Billy Wagner. I just hope he doesn't get Mark Wohlers instead. That is a great post because he could be either Wagner or could lose control and turn into Wohlers
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Has his control been any better as of late or is he still having a ton of issues throwing strikes? The thing I'm really worried about if this happens is his mental stability I hope he's matured enough that if he has a bad outing or two in the majors that he won't lose it again. Walk haven't been a problem as of late blowing away hitters with his upper 90's heat and 12-6 Curves. As for mentaly that is why I wrote what I did about hopeing Bobby isn't called up
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) I was about to say that. So who would go down? They can't possibly be ready to give up on Shingo already. That I don't know This what I found out from Champion the Sox's Pitching Cordinator, And for Bobby Jenks I hope it isn't true
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) I don't think that this will be happening anytime soon. Jenks is doing well but he still has a 3.00 ERA in AA with a poor walk rate. His walk rate is cause for concern but his ERA is very misleading he gave 7 runs in the first game of the season and only 4 ER since.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Wow, very interesting I assume that would mean goodbye to shingo. Wow, I'm kind of speechless. I've wanted to see what Bobby could do but do you think this is a little early BHAM or do you think he's ready? From what I hear Kenny Williams really was impressed when he seen him. Nothing to left for him here I was hopeing it would be charlotte because I don't think he is ready.
-
Lots of rumors that after the Barons First Half ends on Sunday that Bobby Jenks will be on his way to the bigs and Casey Rogowski up to Charlotte which then will allow Villcais to maybe come of the DL or Wasserman to be promoted and Leo Diagle to be called up from Winston-Salem

Barons 1 Mobile 0 W- Phillips (3-0) L- Chick (2-5) Sv-Jenks (14) Wow what a game Heath Phillps had control problems and had some big jams but made the big pitches got out of the jam and Bobby Jenks came in and got the final 4 outs and strikeing out Greg Sain and Dustin Delluchi out on nasty curve balls. The Barons only had one hit against Chick an RBI triple by Rogo, Travis Chick the #4 Prospect in the SD chain pitched a awsome ball game and will be a major league star for many years to come. Mobile's missed chances were 3rd: Bases loaded 1 out and Heath Picks off Greg Sain at 3rd then Casey Baker grounds to Rogo. 4th: 2nd & 3rd 1 out and Luke Carlin with the infield in hits a 1 hopper to 2nd and Joe Gerber strays to far from 3rd and he is tagged out, The next batter Coery Smith Strike's out swinging. 6th: 2nd & 3rd 1 out and Ronny Merill with the infield in hits a weak two hopper to Andy Gonzalez who looked Casey Baker back to the 3rd base bag. Then Bobby Jenks comes on and Luke Carlin tapped out to Casey Rogowski. Barons are in 1st place by a half game come home to play Tennessee with Kris Honel on the hill

Barons 8 Mobile 3 W-Malone L-Thompson Sv-Pollok (3) Corwin Malone was pitching in front of the hometown crowd and struggled early in the game with control some of which had to be nerves. But Corwin settled in nicely and got ahead of a lot of batters as the game progressed. Dwayne Pollok was 4 up and 4 Down recording 3 K's. G. Reyes had 2 hits and a great suicide squeeze bunt in the 6th. Chris Stewart with perhaps the hit of the season with runners 1st and 3rd and 2 outs after Blakely didn't get the fly ball Stewart drove a pitch in the Left Center gap tying the game at 3. Jerry Owens had a huge RBI double as the Barons after the Stewart double collected 3 straight run scoring hits. Andy Gonzalez also had a 3-4 night. Game 2 in 10 Mins

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) 17 year olds play in the Carolina League? Wow, that's pretty good. Bakker is only 22, he's not that old for the league. With that said, I agree with about everything else you said and I really wonder why the Sox had him skip Kanny. Didn't they see in ST that he would get rocked at W-S? That is what I wondered I knew he was 22 and he skipped Kanny but wondered why they sent him to WS because it is such a hitters freindly ballpark which Kanny isn't I am not ready to give up on him yet
-
bad loss but the Ump really isn't to blame a bang bang play could have been safe could have been out. What killed us was 1st 3rd no one out and can't even put the bat on the ball.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Knights lost 9-5 in 10. Anderson with a 3 run HR. Borchard 2-4 with a HR. Norton had 4 hits. Box Score The Warthogs won 10-9 in 10. HRs for Hall (12), Daigle (19), and Schnur (5). 2 HRs for Carlos Lee, 7 on the year for him, he's hitting .368. Valido had 3 hits. Box Score Bakker seems like he is really struggling with Winston always seems like he blows big leads

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) B-Ham's game got rained out. Arlene got the best of the Barons tonight
