QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) I'm assuming knucklecurve. I believe that is the only curve he throws?? Right on Rex Did you see that bat fly into the stands about 2 rows from where I normally sit today I was behind the plate.
-
Mobile 5 Barons 2 W- Overdyz L- Honel As Rex said earlier Honel wasn't impressive behind a lot of hitters FB around 88 all game long. Pollok was so-so hit a batter with the bases loaded. Meaux and Bull were good out of the pen. Jerry Owens had a 2 hit game hitting .310 on the season. Gonzo had a hit drew a pair of walks. Second half begins in Chattanooga Tuesday with most likely a differnet roster.

Barons 10 Mobile 5 W-Malone (4-3) L- Chick (2-6) Offense was rolling tonight and started at the top of the order with Owens going 2-5 3 RBI and Gonzo who now plays second was 2-5 with a ringing double. Ryan Sweeney had a pair of hits and one absolute rocket. Reyes had a couple hits and Jon Aceves hit a 487 Ft Homerun off the light tower in LF with his 3-4 tonight gives him 8 hits out of 9 AB's. Corwin had trouble with the strike zone of young umpire Josh Caryle who seemed to have trouble himself calling Balls and Strikes but it was on both sides so the rookie ump just had an off night. Corwin threw 102 pitches for 5 innings. LaMura struggled again, Reynoso got a scoreless 8th and Jenks was throwing gas in the 9th as Ronnie Merill took a called 3rd strike down the middle on a 98 MPH Fastball to end the game the fastball to Merill after seeing 2 12-6 Curves must have though the FB to be 110 MPH just unfair to the opposing hitters.

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Rogo is the man. He should be called up to Charlotte. He deserves it. Casey suffered a leg injury yesterday I don't know how serious but left the game in the 5th. -
Time out with Josh Fields

Barons 7 Mobile 2 W-Philips (4-0) L-Thompson (5-4) Finally today an hour of hard BP that had purpose behind it. Barons responded with 7 Runs on 12 hits with some rockets. Ryan had a 2-4 game with a ringing double. Josh Fields had a pair of smash hits one off the Left field wall the other off the third base bag. Andy Gonzalez had a pair of hits and 3 RBI. Chris Young the only Baron with out a hit but layed down an awsome suicide squeeze bunt. Heath Phillips pitched well ran out of steam in the 7th as he gave up a pair of runs. Ryan Meaux finished out the final 2 innings allowing one baserunner. News not all good Rogo hurt himself rounding 1st on what would have been a double.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) Tom, tell us more. Are you suggesting a managerial change is needed, or the coaching staff, or both? I think Razor is fine he is trying talking to them after every AB every mistake but I think we need a new hitting coach because Razor can only do so much and the adjustments are not being made to the Hoover Met Ritchie has had 2 months yet every swing is for the fences which will lead you to failure. I know the Barons have a lot of homerun hitters but the way to win at the Met is small ball and a team that has .297 BA with 37 Homers (22-12) on the Road yet a .218 BA with 14 Homers (10-20) at home makes me believe something is wrong. Way to many big swings and just not smart ball when the tying run is in the hole the batter have a 3-0 count and takes a Homerun swing on a ball that is over his head 3 straight times makes me want to scream. Barons have won 2 games @ home since May 14th.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Maybe the Barons just have a young team with not enough leadership? Total stab in the dark, but it sure sounds like they have no direction. I think a coaching change is needed

Mobile 9 Barons 3 W- Tucker L- Bull Bull was hit hard in this game including back to back 2 baggers and 4 straight line drive hits his only struggle inning was the 3rd he was pulled in the 4th with 2 on 2 out and Pollok allowed both to score to hurt Bull's final line. No pitcher outside of Jenks could shutdown the league's worst offense with a team .241 Batting Avg. This loss brings the home record to a dismal 10-19. A lot of immature hitters who seem to lack a leader as of now no hitter is ready for a call to Charlotte. I am not sure what needs to happen to change the attitude of the team. Crowd booed the Barons several times after some bad plays on the field.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) He's 15 for 38 so far (.395). Meanwhile Jeremy Reed has an on base of about .340. Not bad for rookie seasons. I know it's a win-win because we needed another starter and Garcia has been pretty decent, but I still think we gave up too much value. Of course with Olivo struggling like none other it's not that bad. I think Mike is the X factor in this deal Reed and Garcia are or will be Solid Major League players And Miguel even though I will always root for him I doubt he turns it around so that leaves Morse and who knows about what he will do. I think the Sox's made the right trade needed pitching and got a good one in Garcia
-
Got my Extra Innings up and working love now I can see the Sox's all the time.
-
Mike Morse First ML HR off Ryan Madson in the 7th. Congrats Mikey Mo.
-
Hernandez serves a fat one to Scutaro and that's the ball game poor Royce Ring

Tennessee 6 Barons 3 W-Pena (2-7) L- Tracey Just no offense today and the middle of the order was brutal Rogo 0-4. Sweeney 0-4. Left on a lot of runners today. Jerry Owens hits his 1st AA homer in the 6th. Tracey had an up and down day when he was ahead in the counts he was awsome but when he was behind was hit very hard but he had some good stuff today and other than the 4th was outstanding, Chris Stewart had to be pulled from the game because of heat sickness as the Temp rose above 90 and heat index around 100. Barons end first half with Mobile this weekend. Lots of Cincinatti Reds, Sox's and Flubs scouts at the game today and most left not impressed.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) That's the whole point. Its the minors and they need to learn these things now. Especially since a guy like Josh Fields has proven and earned nothing. I would have done the exact samething. There is no excuse for being lazy. Exactly he didn't even jog to first he was headed back to dugout before the ball was even caught if it dropped he would been out at first because of his lazyness I hope Razor holds him a few more games now we are out of the 1st half race.

Tennessee 2 Barons 0 W- Nippert (3-1) CG L- Lubisich (7-4) A poorly played game on both offense and Defense, In the 1st inning a chop by CF Jared Ball was misplayed by Aceves for a double followed by a Chris Young misplayed ball in CF no communication between Young and Sweeney leads to an RBI double by Cota. In the third a ball that was hit hard but in Darren Blakely's glove that was dropped for a Double for Noochie Varner then on a Jared Ball Bunt Antoin Gray bobbled then threw the ball past Aceves allowing the run to score. The Offense played like what has become excepted at the home. Barons fall 1 1/2 games behind white hot Jacksonville. This all but ends the Barons first half run. Tracey on hill Tomorrow against Tony Pena 1-7 7.00 ERA.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) How many HR's do you think he'd have in AA in a MUCH bigger park and less of a hitter's league? Huge Ball Park bigger than most MLB parks and there is no carry to a ball at all.
