QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Maybe he was trying distract the Sox and forget about the bunt so that the Yanks could get on base. It came close to working, I was rewinded, and it happened during the bunt, and Crede was obviously off guard looking in the stands, it could've cost us the game, the son of a b****

Yes, I agree that it was nice to get the win and that's all that counts, nice pitching duel, I just hope Ozzie can get his head straight on this one issue. This would be a great playoff series, except for the idiot NY fans. The funniest thing I read all night was someone comparing the Yankee Stadium music to a Jock Jams CD

I just finished watching this game as I had night school and Tivoed it and am sick of this, Hermanson is our closer, no more questions, put him in! I was screaming at the TV at the begining of the 9th, even before the gAyRod HR. I thought Ozzie went by his gut, but he always does those stupid situational matchups. If it's the 9th and you have the lead, f*** the matchups, go to your closer! I didn't agree with Brantley's rant, but at this point, to do anything else is stupid. Especially when you put in Marte to face lefties, when he can't get one out, and if the batter is bad or can't hit left handed pitching, he'll be sure to walk him. Conclusion: quit playing the matchups when you're pitchers aren't suited for those matchups in the first place. Hermanson is the closer, stop disrespecting him.

What a retard! I actually felt bad for this kid when I saw this, because Hawk said he fell, and now I feel like the retard. I don't wish ill luck or death on anyone, but if you're going to be that f'in stupid, something should happen to you so you learn your lesson. Not a foul ball situation, as it happened during the bunt play to Crede, and I think it caught Crede off guard because he hesitated and was surprised to see the ball bunted at him and quickly threw it to 1st, making it closer then it should've been

So lame, what business is it of the arbitrator? I would've rather seen Artest play last year then see this idiot pitch

The only thing I'm hoping for is that the YES Network stupidly assumed the same exact lineup just because it was used yesterday. I thought AJ was only hitting 3rd because he had success vs Mussina? Don't do it Ozzie! -

YESNETWORK.com has starting lineups http://www.yesnetwork.com/yankees/startinglineups.asp THUD! -
You're all going to be disappointed http://www.yesnetwork.com/yankees/startinglineups.asp

I havent played it, but wouldnt judge it by the comment of "not being able to outdo itself". After a while, how much can you change/add, especially when you're ontop?
-
I'd take Tom Gordon or Matsui.

I don't think it was intentional, there's a video here http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws (Click on 'Podsednik's leaping catch' under the picture), and there's a nice angle where the guy was going for the ball, not even looking at Pods at first. Still, classy by Pods, we all remember what happened when someone didn't even touch a jag like Sheffield. Also, agreed that if the situation was reveresed/stadiums reversed, it would've been completely different/a big deal. They might've even dedicated an 'Outside the Lines' to it to document those dirty Sox fans.

Buerhle may not start game one

I am starting to get sick of the El Duque experience, are we led to believe that in October he will magically click his heels and work quicker, be able to pitch over errors and blown calls (Contreras also has this syndrome) and throw more strikes? I loved the signing, but now cringe through every start, and am spoiled by the fast pace our other pitchers use. He has a nice record, but the offense has saved him a few times. He ended up with a better line than it looked like it would look like last night, but thanks to Aaron, or else this would have been a blow out quick. If you nibble around and start to walk batters in the playoffs, they will hurt you, and it won't help if you're on the road. They say he feeds off pressure and always comes up big in October but last night was a pressure situation with facing his old team in a packed Yankee Stadium, and he looked very fragile in the early innings, not like a guy that feeds off pressure. He got better as the game went on, but couldn't even go 6 again... -

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) I really hope our team doesn't have your outlook, every teams goal should be to treat every game as a must win. So you don't think we must win as many games as possible until October? Just go in and do whatever if they win good if not oh well?? I don't think so. They better win tomorrow, the game after that, and that game after that one. You want to win every game and don't want to take it easy, but to say it's a must win and that this team will not succeed in the playoffs if they don't win tomorow? BS -
QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Also what would you say about that school to someone looking at colleges? -Do college visits. As has been said already, look for an environment you like (probably the most important thing). Take everything into account, dorms or transportation (will they have cable for Sox games?!?!?!), weather (it might suck to walk miles to classes in the winter in some areas), different degree programs and requirements (though most should be similar), whether you'll like bigger or smaller classes/campuses, financial aid packages, even take cameras if you wish. Most likely someone's gonna be dishing out a lot of money, don't want to spend your time in a place you'll hate. -Start as early as possible, it'll probably be more convenient. I was late (applied to the college in late July, while classes started the month after, but I had great high school grades, so I guess they didn't mind), and love where I am, (If you're in high school and take one of those scholarship tests, check the box for them to be able to mail stuff to you, you'll get a lot of school's mail, but you'll also see who really wants you and I got a lot of free stuff) So how many people here facebook?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) You can use your small sample size 2-4.... One of which was a 200 ft. sidespinning shank of a ground rule double. -- and hang your hat on that. He was 0-for-the-weekend, and we won. Maybe we're better when he doesn't hit. :rolly I'll use the 'Doesn't hit for average. Doesn't hit for power. Doesn't have a batting eye. Doesn't have great defensive range. DOES have deceptively slow speed. DOES have a throwing arm.' There isn't a team, or pitcher, in baseball who is sitting there think "Oh s***! I've gotta face Timo Perez tonight." But yeah, that was a glorious 2-4. You're also using a small sample size when looking at his season stats. I don't agree with batting him 5th, but I don't want him off the roster, he's nice to put in when guys need rest, and a better bat than Willie Harris Back to tomorow's game, I don't see any as must win, a win now or confidence from others that they can beat a team that might not even be in the playoffs won't mean jack in October. With such a great start and lead, and a great pitching staff, I don't see any must win situations coming up til October -
Yeah, I'm not looking for him to be in close games, either up by a lot, or down by a lot, so we don't waste the valuable arms in that situation.

Farmio was saying how there was a buzz about getting Griffey in NY today on the broadcast, so we may not even get a chance to put in a claim

Not that bad of a game, we ran into some good pitching. El Duque iffy as usual, I cringed while watching it, but was surprised it wasn't worse as the game progressed, Rowand kept it a lot closer though, defense was great. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Stop blaming the umps guys, you sound like little girls. They haven't made a call that cost us the game...yet. Unless you guarantee me that Iguchi gets a hit if Pods is safe, blame El Duque for coming out flat in the first or Dye for not coming thru with 2nd and 3rd and two outs. I'm not blaming them for anything, I don't get why they always get the cop up when f***ing up obvious calls. If I made that many mistakes at my job as I have seen this crew make, I'd be gone in an instant, and I'm going from the sample size of when they do the Sox games always, Ozzie isn't the only manager to complain of this crew. Momentum is huge in this game, especially when you take away a chance with RISP (Pods play) with the heat of the order coming up. Just because the Sox couldn't capitalize in the other situations gives the umpires an excuse to blow easy calls and keep vendettas? Bulls*** -

I'd like to see curve one into the HP umpires genitalia area, okay, that's cruel, but they've been horrible tonight (as this crew usually is. the demand for umpire jobs is obvously low for these guys to have jobs, i should apply). The team with the biggest payroll in mlb history doesn't need extra help, but they might be on that payroll as well. -

Hunter's lucky that El Duque was able to pitch over that. Okay, now let's stick up their ass offense!
