Depends on if you carry the question into next year....... That's when Rogo will be in AA.
  4. Au Contrare......... There is a perfect reason for Borchard playing everyday and he will continue to do so whether you like his .180 average or not.
  5. Theoretically, yes....... but in a Q&A where you have to answer a question almost immediately, you are going to have to go by the scouting reports you have. There is no way to have updated information about every player in the minors. You take the info for what it is.... Sickels provides good information, even if it isn't 100% up-to-date.
  6. Why the love affair with former Sox players? Loaiza does not belong in the Sox rotation, now or in the future. HE was traded for a reason.....
  7. How much money do you have? I'd be happy to take your hard earned cash!
  8. Sickels is always behind in his scouting reports....... He may look at current numbers or get general information about a player, but he is always referring to "last year's" scouting reports. It is nearly impossible to keep up with updated scouting reports on every player in the country. He does all of his research for his book in the offseason, so you get the most up-to-date info at the beginning of the year. Next year he will talk about McCarthy's increased velocity and how he is a legit top flite pitching prospect. Basically, he tells you what you already know if you follow your team's prospects year round. His strength is that he rates all prospects from all teams.
  9. All of the players mentioned also have similar control and gaudy BB/K ratios to McCarthy. McCarthy is an elite group, but he is by no means the only pitcher out there with great control and high strikeout numbers.
  10. I saw him in the Future's Game and I was certainly impressed. Being in AA at age 18 with explosive stuff like his is not normal.
  11. Brandon has added to his velocity (that or Sickels is just off)...... He is consistently 90-92 with the fastball now.
  12. There are others that have had unbelievable seasons as well such as Jose Cappellan (Braves), Jeff Francis (Rockies), Felix Hernandz (Mariners), Zach Duke (Pirates), Matt Cain (Giants) and Chad Billingsly (Dodgers). McCarthy's numbers certainly rate right up there with all of them, however.

I stand corrected..... well sort of..... McCarthy will go tonight and Phillips will take the extra day of rest and go tomorrow night.
  14. Steff, how can Kelly still be the player union rep when he is not on the 40-man roster? Wouldn't that mean he is no longer in the union? me confused.....

Yep....... he pitched Sunday, putting him on schedule for Friday. Sunday was a DH and Wed. was a day off, so he may get pushed back until Sat. I am not sure, but I think Phillips is scheduled for tomorrow.

Bottom line is Joe B. should be in the lineup everyday from this point on...... Let's let time and regular AB's tell the story. I only saw two plate appearances tonight, but he looked good. He had a long at bat and drew a walk the first time up and smoked a ball that damned near burned Crisp in CF. I'll say this about Joe B.......... Joe Borchard is a class guy and a tireless worker. He is the kind of player that if he ever puts it together, Sox fans will LOVE to see him playing for their beloved. He can be everything a fan wants in a player in terms how he plays the game and his approach off the field. This season is over........ just watch Joe play daily and be patient. Let's see if he can get comfortable and improve. If not, then the Sox know what direction to go in next year.

Bull left the game with a lower back problem........ let's hope he's okay.
  18. Not inconsistent at all...... He has a limited number of at bats, so 3-4 games will raise the average 20 or more points and an 0-4 will drop you like a rock. Stats start over when you change leagues, so his numbers from Charlotte did not carry over. He only has 116 at bats with Tacoma.
  19. Yofu would have already made it if he had impeccable control with 6 pitches and consistently threw 90+. He doesn't do all of those things, that is the problem.
  20. Rex Hudler replied to Spiff's topic in FutureSox Board
I saw him play once..... he had two hits. He didn't make any plays in the field that I recall, so it was really tough to get a good read on him. He has hit at every level, yet is still very erratic on defense, as many young shortstops are. The D-Rays are going nowhere, so why not let him learn at that level?
  21. Duncan is hurt....... has not pitched since July 10 and only once since June 22. Santiago is iffy, at best for a callup. I wouldn't expect many callups at all, unless the Sox completely drop out of the race.
  22. They did walk 8, between them, however.........
  23. Barons won 10-4....... Winston-Salem won 4-0....... Kanny DNP....... Bristol won 4-0 on a one-hitter....... Great Falls won 4-3......
