If Carlos continues, he will be the biggest thing
we have a winner....... he did it while playing for the San Francisco Seals

If Carlos continues, he will be the biggest thing
Right number of games, Yas......... not a Texas Leaguer, however.

If Carlos continues, he will be the biggest thing
Ventura hit in 58 straight games for Oklahoma State..... but that is college, not professional....

If Carlos continues, he will be the biggest thing
Just a note........ DiMaggio's 56 games is not the professional record for a hitting streak...... anyone want to guess what is and by whom? NO CHEATING by looking it up!

Aaron Miles
Aaron is the kind of player Sox fans would love to watch. He plays hard and is what you might call a grinder...... He has the right attitude about everything. I have a friend in Colorado and although she says the Rockies suck, she likes watching him play.

Munoz set to pitch Monday
Arnie is set to pitch against West Tennessee on Monday night....... that will put him on schedule with his regular 4 days rest to pitch for the Sox on Saturday.

Aaron Miles
My only point was let's let the whole season play out........ The bottom line is, no matter how good Miles does, the trade was a good one for the Sox. Once the decision was made that Willie Harris would start over Miles, then the trade was needed, both for the Sox and for Miles. If you want to argue whether Miles or Harris should be playing 2B for the Sox, go ahead....... I prefer to look ahead, not back. The Sox are winning and Harris is more than holding his own. Sounds like a winner for all.

I wish....... the ole wing has been dead for several years, Jim.

Moneyball
I didn't care so much for Bunts, but George Will's other book - Men at Work -while somewhat dated, is one of the best baseball books I have ever read. The Mental Game of Baseball is also an excellent read.

Props to Jim Bullard
This went somewhat overlooked, but I wanted to give props to Mr. Bullard for a job well done Wednesday. Bull was scheduled to start on Thursday, but got called into action after Courtney Duncan was injured in the 2nd inning of Wednesday night's game. Bullard answered the call by going 6.2 innings, throwing 100+ pitches, by far his longest outing of the year. Not only did he give them innings, but he held Huntsville scoreless until allowing a two-run HR in his last inning of work. The Barons won 8-3 and Bull picked up the win. To be able to jump in unexpectedly like that and give your team more than anyone expected is huge. Bull stepped up big time!

Sosa vs. Birmingham Barons
Who the hell knows? The Barons rotation is completely decimated at this point.... With injuries, back-to-back DH's last week and the Munoz situation, it is impossible to keep track. Duncan left the game hurt the other night........ Phillips pitche with 6 stitches in his heel from getting spiked in the previous start (he was due to skip a start, but couldn't after Duncan went down.... Ulacia is set to go tonight........... so I am guessing you will see a combo of Meaux, Munoz and Villacis and Bullard.

Sosa vs. Birmingham Barons
Sammy Sosa will rehab for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx against the Birmingham Barons Sun-Tues. He is scheduled to re-join the Cubs on Wednesday.

Arnie Munoz Will Likely Start on Saturday
So does tonight's rainout kill Arnie' MLB debut?

Arnie Munoz Will Likely Start on Saturday
I do believe Saturday's game is on WGN.

Uribe and the All-Star Game
No, Miles has been playing every day since his recall from AAA. He has been hot since his return, hitting at a .419 clip in June since his recall. He'll come back to earth, but so will Uribe.
-
Uribe and the All-Star Game
I am not overrating Miles at all... If anything, I am saying Uribe will come back to earth. I used the word comparable for a reason. There are certainly areas where Uribe will do better than Miles. I just have a hunch when all is said and done, there will not be that much separation between the two players. And for the record, I thought from day one and still think today that the Miles-Uribe trade was a great one for the Sox. Even if they were the same player offensively, Uribe provided flexibility on defense Miles could not. The trade for Miles was also good for him, as it gave him an opportunity he deserved since Kenny made the choice of Harris over him. Lastly, I have always said that long term, Miles would likely end up as a backup infielder (ala Tony G.) but I felt in the short-term, if given the opportunity he could hold his own as a starter. I liken him to Frank Menechino in some ways. It sounds to me that we don't disagree as much as you think.

Why in the Hell...
Josh is in Puerto Rico, so watching a Sox game isn't quite as easy for him as it is for the rest of us.
-
Uribe and the All-Star Game
I say by the end of the season, Miles stats are comparable to Uribe's. if not better.
-
Uribe and the All-Star Game
How many games has Uribe even played at 2B? Is he even on the ballot?

Super Regionals
It just makes me wonder why Moviel only pitched 10 innings all year. Vandy is a nice team and the SEC is a great league, but they finished 7th in that league. Surely, if the kid was that good (his ERA was 1.74) they would have found room for him out of the bullpen at least. He barely pitched at all during the SEC season. I wonder if there was an injury involved.
