Past, I don't get you sometimes..... You liked Carl and his intangibles and think he may be worth $8 mil or so, yet think Konerko, who in my mind anyway, has equally as good of intangibles, sucks and doesn't deserve half of his money. Well while Everett was with the Sox last year, Konerko outplayed him, or at the least was equal to him. Neither is stellar on defense and both are said to be hard workers and have a solid effect on the clubhouse..... Yet, Konerko hit .280 with 15 HR and 48 RBI while Everett hit .301 with 10 and 41 RBI. Sounds like to me they were practically the same player. So if giving $8 million to Konerko is a joke, then it must be the same to give it to Everett? Personally, I like Konerko to have a better season this year than Carl. Write it down, it will happen. Carl is a .280 18 HR 65 RBI guy in most seasons.

To add to that, once the Sox do not offer arbitration to Alomar or Everett by Sunday night, then they will not be able to re-sign with the Sox until May 1. So consider them both gone.

Jim, I agree with you a lot, but it is time to get off the ".400 in AAA" bandwagon....... He hit .380 in 28 games...... that is not a large enough sample size to use as evidence he will be a good MLB hitter.......

I think Carlos will eventually end up at 1B. Don't expect a smooth transition, because his footwork will need lots of work.

I don't think Frank wants to play there everyday. I think it was as much him as Manuel. That said, if FT is not your everyday firstbaseman and Konerko is moved, I think JT Snow would be a good addition. He would solve all defensive questions and would be a nice veteran addition.

Notice I said perceived injury risk. That's what happens when you are fat. People perceive you differently. You are seen as an injury waiting to happen. You are also perceived as lazy if you are fat. Whether it is true or not, perception can be as harmful as reality.

Interesting.... I find that most Sox fans, especially on message boards, overvalue our own talent and think we can get way more for them than is really possible. In terms of your comments on Buehrle, I agree that he is and should be nearly untouchable.

Vazquez is three years younger and is not perceived as an injury risk, and is cheaper! Bite your freaking tongue!!!! MSF, unless Giambi's knee is still a problem, the Yanks don't need a 1B. A DH perhaps, but Giambi should be able to step right be in at 1B this year.

Screwball, your thoughts are not way off base, however there are lots of reasons why this would not work. The biggest reason is that the Sox are not about to trade one of their top pitchers and get no pitching in return. Another is that Edmunds has 3 years and 34 million remaining on his contract. I'm sure there are other reasons why it couldn't work, but hey, it wasn't a half bad thought.

Could be Anaheim or Baltimore or even Philly. Don't discount the new stadium they are building giving them enough reason to take a chance. I'm sure they would try to sign Millwood to a one year deal, two max.

Whether Everett is back or not, it will not be because we offered him arbitration. I just don't see him coming back unless the bottom completely falls out for his demand.
