We lost two Minor Leaguers in that portion of the draft, although neither seemed much like prospects, which makes sense why they were unprotected. The players were Daylan Holt, who was acquired from Oakland in the Billy Koch deal last year and spent all but one week of the season in Class A, and Eric Storey, who also played in Class A.
  4. That's fair..... I don't think he has had enough time for either to be determined.
  5. I disagree, but we'll leave it at that....
  6. Or that his agent felt like he would get more from someone else. Or that he wanted a two year deal and the Sox would only offer him one. Lots of possibilities.

Or cause the whole deal to blow up and force the Red Sox to deal with another team than the Sox, leaving the Sox holding their johnsons.
  8. You mean if I spend the $10 million I have in my pocket, I will double my money tomorrow? Sonofab****, I never realized that was the secret to financial management. Thanks for the enlightenment.

I think it is kind of funny that the Sox want to keep this quiet and the Red Sox want to keep it quiet "to keep the Yankees from stepping in". Yet, this guy who says is a huge White Sox fan and a big Nomar fan would blab it on a message board. To me, that seems to jeopardize the goals of the team and player he loves. If it is BS, the guy is a blow hard. If there is truth to it, then he's an idiot for posting the info.
  10. Another alternative is to work out a trade so that the Sox can send him to AAA. Eric Hinske was a prime example. He was taken in the Rule 5 draft by Oakland from the Cubs. Oakland wanted to keep him, but not at the Major League level, so they traded Scott Chiasson to the Cubs. There are other examples, but that is one from off the top of my mind.
  11. Consider me flattered then....... still seems kind of creepy though. LOL

If the Sox offered arbitration to Everett, why would he even consider signing for what he did with the Devil Rays? Once the Sox offered arbitration, Everett would have immediately been guaranteed a minimum of $7.32 million for ONE year. The Sox had no choice with Everett, plain and simple.
  13. True, but I'm damned funny...... just ask me!
  14. This is all very interesting..... I was gone for a few days and didn't know this thread existed. I am genuinely humbled at the thought of so many people tossing my name into the ring for some of those awards. For that, I appreciate those thoughts. I do however, have one problem with these nominations... I want to know why in the hell no one wants to drink with me! LOL
  15. This is interesting..... I didn't know there was such a thread.... thought whitesoxfan was messin with me. LOL I'm not sure what the deal is with the Hex Rudler thing... Is being spoofed a good thing or a bad thing? That name appeared not long before I left for the weekend and I haven't read many (if any) of his/her posts, so not sure if it is good or bad. Either way, I hope no one gets confused. I only want to be blamed for dumb things I post, and there are enough of those to have to worry about getting confused with someone else. LOL
  16. So where do these mystery SoxTalk Awards exist? LOL
  17. No need to be a smartass now. LOL
  18. Anybody want to help me out by posting the latest rumors/news (100 words or less) so I don't have to read every thread? LOL
  19. He can't with all of the "smart" people on here Yas....... If he signs a guy to a big contract, it becomes a stupid deal a year down the road.... If he doesn't, then he isn't trying hard enough or JR isn't giving him enough cash to do so.

Pettite was going to Houston or staying in NY. If it were about money, we would be bidding against the Yankees and we all know how that would turn out. The Braves tried to sneak in, but don't think they got too far.
  21. No, but rumors are starting to heat up again........ for the sixth time......
  22. Jason, you are finally coming around on Weaver........ There is hope for you yet.
  23. Rex Hudler replied to The Beast's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That would make for one of the worst defensive OF's of all time..
  24. For the ST Holders.......... What benefits do ST holders get other than getting your same seats to all games? What incentive is there to be a ST Holder rather than just buying ticket to go to 30 or 40 games? There is no discount, is there?
  25. Hey Steff, with all due respect here, I don't think Patrick is way off here. You said Colon was going to New York like you had inside info. You were so positive, I believe you even said "Book It". Sometimes we are right and sometimes we are wrong. Nothing wrong with admitting as much. Just because someone called you out that you don't know doesn't mean it was meant to be malicious. I was thinking the same thing when I first read your post. He just posted it first. Relax and don't take things so personal. You were wrong about Colon. That doesn't make you a bad person. Not the best prognosticator, perhaps, but that's not a horrible thing. LOL
