Here's the update of the White/Red Sox rumor
Neither source I looked up showed any deal extending into 2004. One site listed his 2003 salary under "one-year deals".

Binghampton and Birmingham are often confused..... just think of Ring's friends trying to figure out where the hell he was after he was traded. LOL

Here's the update of the White/Red Sox rumor
Nixon made $4 million last year. Unless he has already signed a contract for this year that I don't know of, I'd expect him to make at least $5 million, if not more.

Top Relief Prospects
Yeah, he was good all year..... The Barons were 20-4 in games he started. He just got better and better all year, culminating with the playoffs where he was just nasty. Everyone remember's his playoff performances, right?

Does anybod really know who "Otis" is?
Not that I am buying into this really happening, but didn't Gammons just say somewhere a day or two ago that the Ordonez-Garciaparra trade "wasn't dead"?

And Ring played in both. LOL Jason, Birmingham, AL is very much a pitcher's park.

Question.. Please Help
Actually, Jason those rosters are indeed correct, they are just in essence paper rosters. The Major League Roster is 40. The AAA roster is (I believe 34 players) and so on. What happens is there is a filtering down process. The players on the AAA roster right now have AAA contracts. That does not necessarily mean they will play at AAA, but how they are classified. Guys from the 40-man roster, plus non-roster invitees are sent down to AAA and guys on a AAA contract are sent to AA (or Class A) and so-on. In spirit you are correct that the AAA roster you see right now will not accurately reflect Charlotte's roster on opening day, but the roster is in fact correct. It is more an administrative deal.

Otis Rumor/Info
OK, what rumor are we talking about??? Don't assume anything! lol

Places to go near the ballpark
Sounds Italian to me......

Aubrey Huff
True, but the Devil Rays signing him didn't change that possibility. It could still happen if the DRays and Dodgers so decided to do the deal.

Good News for the Future
For everyone who didn't get it the first time around, here it is again....... Call him cheap if you want to, that's okay. But the proposed $58 million payroll (of which we are $4 million over right now) is $7 Million higher than last year's $51 million! Everyone talks as if the Sox are cutting payroll, which is not true. It just seems so because we didn't have to pay for Alomar or Everett last year. Those guys were otained to give the team a shot to win, not to increase payroll $15-$20 million this year. So if a $7 million dollar increase is not enough, call him cheap. But let's not talk like we are going backwards here!

Aubrey Huff
How is that one less target for the Dodgers? Huff wasn't a free agent, so he was never available, except by trade, which they could still do.

Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000 earlier today
Actually, most of LA's s***ty contracts were in place when Evans arrived. Danny's major f*** up was Hundley. Most of the rest can be blamed on Kevin Malone.

who else is sick of pete rose
I sense public opinion is swaying a bit concerning Mr. Rose. I for one, am tired of his self-serving ass. I hope Selig lets him rot. I know a lot of you aren't big Gammons fans, but I found this piece interesting. Gammons Changes His Mind

I have the CBA...
Alright, alright enough kissing Steff's ass. She's gonna get a big head already! How about we stop criticizing her and kissing her ass at the same time? LOL Sorry Steff, gotta keep you under the reigns. ;-)

Angels pitcher is steroid positive
True, but he was a freakin monster from early on. He is the definite exception to the rule. LOL
-
Angels pitcher is steroid positive
I'm telling you that you would see a huge difference in almost every player. Even the ones that aren't highly muscled.

Angels pitcher is steroid positive
Is that Maggs?
-
Angels pitcher is steroid positive
From what I read in the story, the substances the pitcher tested positive for are not even on baseball's banned list. Hence, this whole thread is flawed.

Anyone else hear a rumor about Konerko to Anaheim?
That can't happen because then everyone on here that b****ed and called Reinsdorf cheap would have done so for nothing! Kind of like this. LOL

Angels pitcher is steroid positive
If you want an example, look at Roger Clemens photos from 1986 to now.

Angels pitcher is steroid positive
In response to those pics greasywheels, you can't tell anything from old photos like that. Men are not fully developed at that age and ALL men get bigger as they get older. It is normal for a guy to be 20-30 pounds heavier in their 30's than in their early 20's. To be fair, look at similar photos of all players and also normal guys. You will see all of them increase in size. With the advanced technologies and training regimens players have today, the size difference in any of those players could be normal and not steroid related. I am not saying players don't use steroids, nor do I know if any of those three did or did not use steroids, but just showing those three pics proves absolutely NOTHING.

Anyone else hear a rumor about Konerko to Anaheim?
And where do you guys think the money will come from to do all of this? We are right now, admittedly $4 million over budget. So you think we will trade PK ($8 million) and take on Washburn, who made $3.875 million and should get at least $4.5 million this year. THEN we will go spend money on Ponson who made $4.25 million and will get at least $5 million, if not $6 or $7 million this year AND Palmeiro who made $9 million and although he won't get nearly that, will still likely get $3 or $4 million. Sorry for the run-on sentence, but this idea is just that. A run of ideas that could land us roughly $8-$10 million over budget....

Simas
Yes, you said it and I will second it. Marianne Rowand is definitely pleasing to the eye!

Alomar--HE GONE!
AAAA players in the right spot can give you a solid year or two in the Majors. Many do, and end up back in AAA eventually, som become and succeed as role players and others never get the chance.
