FUTURESOX.COM PRESENTS.....
I'll preface my only two thoughts by saying I have never put together a list as deep as 50, so it must really be tough. My guess is that I would run out of names at 37. The only difference of opionion is that Anthony Sanders and Cliff Brumbaugh are both vets and not prospects. It is very unlikely they would ever make it to Chicago unless they are temporary fill-ins for someone injured or something. Other than that, I will continue to read the list as you post it and look forward to it. If I can add anything I will, but you guys do a solid job of doing your homework it seems.

More on Jerry Manuel
The coaching pipeline came Manuel and Leyland came from was the Detroit Tigers and Evansville, IN. Back in the 70's and early 80's Leyland managed the Evansville Triplets. Other managers, coaches and players in Evansville around that time were Jerry Manuel, Larry Rothschild, Les Moss, Bruce Kimm and Gene Lamont. I am sure there were others, but those are all I could think of off the top of my head. Not a bad list of MLB coaches.

FUTURESOX.COM PRESENTS.....
What is the connection between Rick and Tim Hummel. They can't be brothers, since they are from completely different parts of the country. Rick is from IL and Tim from NY. Cousins? Also, Rick is 22. Won't be 23 until after the season ends.

Royce Ring makes BA Prospect List
I don't recall Pacheco throwing that hard, but I think I have only seen him throw twice, once in releif and one start. I should get a better look later this week. West on the hill tonight.

Arnie Munoz - day by day I'd say he is doing quite well after those three early bad outings... Big Key to tonights game
In a way, they do. It's called ERA which is supposed to measure a pitcher's effectiveness while protecting him from errors. The flaw is, they have to be scoring errors for one. Two, it includes errors on the pitcher, which he should be held accountable for. Mental mistakes such as throwing to the wrong base or losing a ball in the lights are not measured. (though it would be nearly impossible to do so)

Carlos
He was bad at 3B because he had bad feet. Could be a problem at 1B, but that was back in 98 so who knows. His hands and arm were fine.

Why didn't we get this guy?
A guy who has a reputation for not going all out and lots of unfulfilled expectations? No thanks

Who is running this team
You know, in all of my dealings with this "GM" I never figured him to be the cigar type. Guess I'll have to offer him one next time I see him. Or better yet, bum a Cuban from him.

No one said job offers were being made. Perhaps they were old friends? Perhaps there was some consulting going on? No need to jump to conclusions.

Royce Ring makes BA Prospect List
Yofu will likely never make that list due to age. Pacheco was so unknown at the beginning of the season that it might be hard to climb onto that list. Rauch may or may not be a prime candidate since he has some big league time and is considered a mature prospect. This list is generally for up-and-comers. Honel, Reed and Cotts are more likely, with even the possibility of Yan.

A Week In Review (May 18-24): Birmingham Barons
Note: The "unreported" game on Sunday was a rainout. The game was halted in the 5th inning with the Barons up 2-1. Brian West was promoted to AAA for the day (DH for Charlotte) and Byeoung (sp?) An was promoted to the Barons. An pitched well and had the lead when the rains came. Both West and An were promptly returned to their original clubs after their starts. The Barons just finished a 12-game road trip (10 games played because of two-rainouts). They took two of 3 from Carolina who sports the best record in the SL, 3 of 4 from Tennessee (2nd best record) and 1 of 3 from Mobile. It was an excellent roadtrip with only a slight slip at the end with the BayBears.

Todays Charlotte Box Score-Sanders-3HRS, Rowand 2
Poor Jim Magrane, he gave up all 6 HR's.

Former Sox players
Fogg tossed seven shutout innings against the Cubs today in his return from the DL for a strained oblique muscle. Gave up 3 hits and walked 3, struck out 5.

Big Key to tonights game
Seems like the biggest key of all for tonight's game is making sure that we score at least one more run than Toronto does.
-
Cotts
Pay attention will ya? We covered that earlier this week in another thread.

Borchard Called Up!
I think you might be right on that one... atleast if hes half the competior hes been hyped up to be... I might consider sending him back to B-ham too... No need. Charlotte will take care of it. in other words greg ritchie will take care of it???? at least thats what i read into it......... Read into it what you want....... But the facts are Borchard had his best year under Ritchie and has struggled under Walker. Not saying that is the only reason, but it could be seen as a contributing factor.

Our Minor League Studs
Soxfest, If Rowand gets another real chance at the bigs and fails again, then I will waltz right on over to your side. I just think they guy has the ability to play everyday. Not necessarily at an All-Star level, but as a solid player. If I am wrong, I will certainly admit it. I am just sometimes stubborn in getting to that point.

Borchard Called Up!
I'm not one to make predictions, but here goes one with an IF attached... If Borchard ends back up in AAA this year, expect him to start to turn things around within two weeks of his return. Read into that whatever you want to......
