  1. Fire KW and THEN bring in Olerud?
  2. SI1020, both Morneau and Restovich are very highly regarded. Restovich even had some Big League time last year (only 8 games). Morneau is only 21 (22 this month). Restovich is 24 and in his 2nd year of AAA.
  3. Charlotte box for tonight.. Looks like Wright was pretty solid. Go for best available. If a solid position player is there in the high rounds, it might be a good year to go for it, since they have loaded up on arms the past few years. But if there is a better talent at pitcher, take him.
  5. You get s***ty calls when you are winning too. You just don't notice them as much. Don't blame the umpires, there is no conspiracy.
  6. Anybody wanna go buy a few wind up alarm clocks and set them for 7:00 tomorrow night? The kicker is you need to find a way to sneak them into the Sox dugout. In the bat rack perhaps?? Think that might get the message through?
  7. He allowed a runner to advance to 2B tonight because he didn't know where to throw it. He tossed it casually to 3B (where the runner had already been held) and the hitter waltzed into 2B easily.
  8. Be careful what you wish for. You'd be calling for Bobby Valentine's head in less than 2 years, if not sooner.
  9. I was listening on the radio when they took him out, Heather. The broadcaster didn't say how many pitches he had thrown, but speculated he might be near 100 after only 5 innings. He does throw a lot of pitches, which is why he hasn't thrown as many innings as you would expect from someone so successful. FWIW, the score in Neal's games have been.... 3-2 (won, 5 IP), 4-1 (won, 5 IP), 4-2 (won, 5 IP), 2-0 (won, 6 IP), 7-1 (no decision, game was 1-1 when he left, 6.2 IP) and 2-1 tonight (loss, 5 IP) So they aren't scoring a lot of runs for him. Couldn't find pitch counts.
  10. Its funny you brought Olerud up tonight. While watching the game tonight, I was thinking that I would trade Olerud for Frank in a heartbeat, until I realized that Olerud makes $2.7 mil more than Big Frank. If money were not an issue, the Sox could use a guy like Olerud in a BIG way. He would save so many errors for the infielders that our infield D would improve immensely.
  11. The calls have nothing to do with the idiot running onto the field.
  12. By the way, what the hell happened? I went to listen to the Barons for a few and the M's tacked on 4 more runs!
  13. Cotts leaves after 5 innings. He gave up two hits. Not sure about the rest of the numbers, but left down 2-0. He escaped a bases loaded jam in the 5th (created by two walks) with a strikeout.

And Sox almost always are at 15 or 16.
  15. Yep, last I saw. Unfortunately, I don't have a radio in the room with my tv and computer, so I can't listen to the game while on here and watch the Sox at the same time. I'll go sneak a listen now with the pitching change.

My guess is that is why there is an asterisk by the Orioles name. The O's still can sign him up to a week before the draft since he went to a JUCO and not a four-year school.
  17. in the FWIW department, Charlotte is leading Richmond 1-0 in the 5th with Danny starting.
  18. Now baggs, that is what I am talking about on the other thread. Being fair is a good thing. That is all I was referring to. Personal attacks are assinine. Job well done with that post.
  19. rex..do you realize how important this season is??...if we white flag this season we will be trading colon and maggs and god knows who else...we cant suffer with a guy going through a 7-17 season..this isnt birmingham..if we dont win this year next season will be year 1 of the umpteenth 5 year plan that sox fans have lived through....patience might be a virtue but not on the south side... Patience may not be, but common sense is. As soon as a guy messes up you guys go directly into personal attacks or say something completely opposite that was said last week. The Sox are not playing well and I can understand your frustration, but let's relax a bit. Give the season time to develop rather then taking a "sky is falling" approach when we are still above .500.
  20. Stewart cannot be blamed for all this, the offense is on a 30 game SLUMP. In the past few years, a 6-0 deficit wasn't all that bad, because you knew the Sox could come back and still win 10-9, but there is no confidence that can happen this year.
  21. No, but have you heard ANYTHING about it before now? No one is saying we will owe them a player, just wondering what if.
  22. Seems to me everybody was pretty high on him his first few starts of the year. Geezus, what the hell kind of reception would you guys have given Tom Glavine when he was going 7-17 his first season? Or what about Greg Maddux and his 6-14 record? Randy Johnson at 7-13? Give the kid a break.
  23. I haven't heard anything about the possibility of owing the Yankees another player. That is merely speculation. May not happen at all. Commish office may stick to their "Buyer Beware" philosophy. Especially since the Sox had no way of knowing either.
  24. More than likely a 40-man roster caliber guy.
