  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) I really don't think he's ready, not yet. Maybe it's the t-shirt he wears underneath his jersey but I believe there are still parts of his game he needs to work on. I will say though, at the beginning of the year I was completely unimpressed by him, as of late he's looked much, much better to me. Basketball wise, I think the smart move is to stay for his senior year. Not that it would likely matter, but it would only technically be his senior year. SHOULD he want/need to play another year, getting another year via a medical redshirt from last year (he only played in 5 games) would be a no-brainer. I think it would be best for DJ to stay another year, but it really depends on his wishes and how IU finishes. If he is having fun and enjoying playing for Coach Sampson and sees the potential benefit of staying then I could see it happening. If he is solely focused on the NBA, then he may go regardless of his projected draft status. I just hope he doesn't end up like many other college underclassmen who never play in the league. Without being privy to DJ's thoughts, I'd handicap his coming back at 60/40 right now.
  2. Nice win for the Hoosiers today handling Michigan without much problem, 76-61. DJ White and Rod Wilmont both had nice efforts. Offensively, the Hoosiers picked right up where they left off before s***ting the proverbial bed Tuesday night. Now, for a big home game against Wisconsin on Wednesday night. Lots of road games left after that, but no more OSU or Wisconsin, so all of them are winnable.
  3. Man recruiting in the South is freakin wild. I have only followed recruiting passively until this year, so it may be this way all the time, but it seems like verbal commitments are being ripped to shreds by the hour, especially down South. Some examples: Alabama gets a solid commitment from former LSU commit DL Luther Davis. Alabama loses commit 4-star QB Robert Marve, who now lists Miami as his leader. Alabama is getting a visit this weekend from Kentucky commit, 4-star RB Demetrius Goode. Alabama is getting a visit from 5-star UNC commit Dwight Jones, who is also looking at Tennessee very heavily. Alabama is also getting a visit from Clemson commit, 4-star WR Markish Jones. Notre Dame loses 4-star DE Justin Trattou to Florida. Auburn commit, 3-star DT Josh Chapman is visiting Alabama this weekend. Ole Miss commit, 4-star RB Robert Elliott is visiting Miss. State this weekend. Alabama 4-star DE commit Kourtnei Brown is visiting UNC this weekend and is also considering Clemson. I'm sure there are many others I have missed. I know it's not only in the South and much of this is likely due to the late naming of Nick Saban as Head Coach at Alabama. It just seems wild this year. Thoughts?
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 02:52 AM) They lost, give it up. Ummm, I said fun facts. Any idiot could figure out I was having fun with a loss. I'm laughing at it. If you aren't smart enough to figure that out, just pass on my posts please. Have a nice day!
  5. Some fun facts from the Indiana - Illinois game last night: 1. IU went 17:24 with only one FG and 3 FT's from the middle of the first half until about 5 minutes into the 2nd half. 2. They scored a total of 11 points in a full 20 minute stretch from the 12:21 mark of the first half until the 12:25 (okay so it is really 19 minutes and 56 seconds) mark of the 2nd half. 3. IU scored 15 points in the games 1st 6:15. That's 2.4 points per minute or a 96 point pace. 4. IU scored 28 points in the 33:45 of the rest of the game. That's .83 points per minute or a 33 point pace. I don't want to take anything away from Illinois' defense, but I don't ever recall seeing such offensive futility. Let's just hope their memories can be short and they can get back to where they were this Saturday. We need to hold serve at home against Michigan and have some momentum going into next week's game vs. Wisky.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) Never speak of Evansville until next year or if we play them again. Hey back off b*tch! lol Problem with Evansville continuing to win is they are killing my hopes for a new coach for next season. I guess if they are going to keep winning, I may as well enjoy it, huh? Next year scares the hell out of me though.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Last night's epsidoe was from Memphis. No real freaks or great singers other than the big hairy guy who sang the blues. The next two episodes are in New York and LA. That should bring out the crazies. Strange thing is, after the auditions, they were reporting that Memphis had one of the strongest groups ever on Idol. Me thinks with the show only being an hour last night, they cut out some pretty good singers. And am I the only one that thought the very first guy of the night was good enough to go to Hollywood? I think he sung Heard it Through the Grapevine. The judges said he was over the top.
  8. I do like Jericho and am looking forward to its return. I think I was the only one that liked The Nine. But so far, after 5 hours, I am loving 24!
  9. Remote Control & Singled Out were great. Does anyone remember the show Studs on MTV? I think Mark Decarlo was the host. I thought that was hilarious and one of the best "dating" shows made. Edit: Okay, so it was Fox and the 90's. Still a damned good show.
  10. I'm new this season to 24. I had never watched it before because I always missed the beginning of the season and felt it would be too difficult to catch up. Friends told me this year I could watch and be okay not having seen the first two seasons. They were absolutely right. I am loving it so far, even though it took me a week to watch the first two episodes. Now, I am looking forward to catching up with seasons past while staying on top of this season each week. So far so good.
  11. All I know is Krush better be finding a way to attempt to flirt with erin Andrews tonight!!
  12. Go figure. Evansville loses to Missouri State by 54 points 13 days ago and turns around and beats them by 7 today. Speaking of not figuring things out, can someone that has ESPN Insider post the following? http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index...ame%3dkatz_andy]Hard to decipher MVC[/url]

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 20, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) I have a feeling Andy will still be around and spin out more. This show is great IMO. The way they are handling the Pam/Jim thing is subtle and done well. I'm so lame that I have to TiVO the show so I don't have to be annoyed by commercials! I do the same. I don't watch it live because I want to be able to completely focus on it.
  14. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 20, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Does ESPN pick these gameday games in advance or is it like football where they wait until a week or so before to decide? This UNC-G Tech game should be a blowout and isn't the best matchup on tap tonight. It's a shame ESPN doesn't have a PAC 10 agreement because I would love to see UCLA and Arizona battle in primetime. Not that it wasn't on tv, but the PAC 10 needs and deserves all the exposure it can get this year. Also A&M and Ok State would have been a better matchup. I guess ESPN has to suck up to the ACC, specifically the state of North Carolina as much as possible. May simply be about the better matchup for TV. I'd think the ratings for UNC-Ga Tech would be much higher than the other two games you mentioned. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that is a major part of the decision of where to go.

  16. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 20, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Any Indiana viewers see that Gordon missed his first 3 shots last and did NOT miss against for the rest of the night against a very very good Lawrence North team? Down by seven going into the last quarter he scored 20 of his game high 38 points. The thing that impresses me most is that he creates everything off of his own defense. He had like 3 or 4 straight steals. He's coming to my school again today to watch our girls basketball team, but I think im to much of a pussy to ask for his autograph just due to the fact that I'm the same age as him haha. If you'd actually check out the Hoosiers thread on TalkBigTen, you'd see I posted that about 7:30 this morning. Try and keep up. ;-)

The more I read about it and remember it, there was some good stuff in this episode. While I still don't think it was as good as the past few episodes, it was solid nonetheless. I think I will just have to watch it again tonight! Also, I agree with those that feel the whole Dwight thing was over too quickly. I thought they could have stretched his return and Andy's "demise" longer and written some truly great stuff in that time.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Yeah, it seeme that this episode was moreso getting to the story, mainly with the Jim/Karen thing at the end. I'm still wondering where they are taking the storyline with Michael and Jan. The picture Michael emailed everyone is still floating out there. They can't just let that angle die. I did laugh at the Gaycation line. I find myself laughing at Kevin and Stanley more and more each week. The more you watch this show, the more you really take to the secondary characters. And speaking of, was Creed in this episode at all? I think both he and Kelly were MIA.

Getting to know the characters is imperative to enjoying the show. Knowing their personalities, histories and quirks makes everything they do and say funnier. I was also somewhat disappointed in tonight's episode. The phone in the ceiling trick was hilarious. Other than that, I didn't laugh nearly as much as the past 2-3 weeks.

Getting through to Randy, Paula and Simon is a process. Contestants are corralled into an arena and many have to wait 8-10 hours once inside. Most were waiting outside the areana for several hours before that. The send singers in groups of four to a table to be judged by Idol staffers. Each sings and they are told yes or no after all four have gone. That gets them an opportunity to come back a couple of weeks later to sing again for Idol producers. Two weeks later, the chosen ones again come back and are judged by said producers. If they survive them, then they come back about 2 weeks later to sing for Randy, Paula and Simon. The show edits it to make it look like it is one big audition taking a couple of days, when in fact it is done in three stages over roughly a month. As was previously mentioned, some good singers don't make it through, for various reasons. One, it is entirely possible that those good singers blew their audition, from nervousness, fatigue or whatever. The other catch is, they are going to only put so many through and they are looking for a variety. They are looking for originality, personality and talent. But timing is a huge key. If a judge (at any point in the process) sees you and feels like they have already seen 4 or 5 similar singers, your chances aren't as good. With long days, the mood of the judges will have an effect too. If the idiot before you yelled at them and you are okay, but not unique then your chances just went down. The key is to think about the volume of people they have to listen to. There has to be some reason you will stand out or else you will blend in. A show full of nice singers without personality does not good TV make.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) Lowery is recruiting good talent for us, but when can I look at him and start to think his coaching is lackluster. We are worthless against a zone. Evansville? Just when Virginia Tech was helping us out and making us look good, we lay an egg to the Aces? Rex Hudler will be estatic. I'm shocked, more like it. Just as I was ready to mount a serious campaign to get rid of Merfeld, he slows the movement down. Granted it is all a mirage. Just enough window dressing so you have trouble seeing the real picture. And if you don't want Lowery, send him back home to Evansville. We'll need a good coach next year and we'd take him in a heart beat.
  22. Match Game is classic. My roommate and I used to watch it every night about 5-6 years ago. Also, I forgot to list "Jericho". Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) Well, Rex, I have good news for you. Link. They have been saying it's on hiatus, not canceled. More than likely, we're talking summer time, I'd guess. Still, I'd have liked to see it have a chance, rather than just playing out a few episodes in toss away fashion.
  24. Missouri giving Kansas all they want in Lawrence. Mizzou up 4 with six minutes left.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 12:10 PM) I believe so. I think it has to be by 4 PM today. Which makes sense why Peterson and Pittman added their names to the list this afternoon.
