  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) These two things are actually somewhat contradictory. If you still like Ozzie at this point, nothing is going to change that. So you'd almost assuredly be willing to give him more than one year. Your subsequent Ditka comment merely cements that. I feel that if Ozzie is given the right talent, like a lot of managers, he can win. I don't see our failures this year as his fault. He does a ton of questionable things, but I think he knows baseball as much as anyone. I want to see us win more titles with him. If we can't, because of his management of the team, then I want someone else.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) I just don't get it. If you were to list all the pros vs cons for keeping Ozzie I am certain the cons would be a much longer list. Probably. I guess I've got that Ditka type love for him...he played hard for us and he won us a world series. Also, I'm not confident in our ability to hire another manager. Kenny's recent mistakes with Peavy, Rios, and Dunn are what is really killing this team.
  3. Getting rid of Kenny seems like the move this off-season, assuming we fall on our faces, and don't make the playoffs. I'm willing to give Ozzie another year. Besides, we have Rick Hahn ready to take over. For some reason, I still like Ozzie....I think because he puts a face on our franchise...although I realize a lot of people don't like that face?!?
  4. I've got tickets for tonight's game...I'm excited to go! Haven't really been this excited since Opening Day! Go Royals and Go Zach Stewart! 4 Games out after tonight!
  5. Time to start our 7 game winning streak, which will correspond with the Tigers 7 game losing streak! First place here we come!
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) My extended family is attending the Saturday 8/20 game to celebrate my sister's birthday. We are arriving in several vehicles from various parts of Indiana but would like to park/tailgate together. My question is if there is any way to ensure that we can all park together, aside from having to meet up at some random gas station at some random Dan Ryan exit and then following each other to the parking lots? You can't tailgate...you need to get in line for the Mark Buehrle bobblehead!
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) My favorite Dijon Sanders moment was that incident with Tim McCarver on live TV back in the 90's. What an idiot. My favorite Dijon Sanders moment was when he hosted the 2002 Miss USA Pageant.
  8. My main point was that DeWitt was on deck, and he is an easier out than Castro...and you would create a force at any base. Based on how it played out, walking him would have been better.
  9. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) Yes. How the hell do you let such a good contact hitter beat you in that situation when I'm pretty sure Blake Dewitt was on deck. And this is not hindsight, I was making this opinion quite clear at the game. Correct...the worst guy I have ever seen bat third in a lineup.
  10. QUOTE (Yoda @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) I would have pitched to him. The guy only had one homerun coming into the game and of course he's going to get ONLY his second AGAINST us . . . He didn't hit a homer...he singled up the middle. He homered later.
  11. I was sitting in the stands last night, and as soon as Gavin threw the wild pitch...I said, 'Ok, now walk Castro'. Why would you pitch to this kid, who has been very good, with the worst 3rd place hitter in baseball, in the on-deck circle. Of course he was going to get a hit. 1st base was open. What the f*** Ozzie?
  12. Yes, feel sorry for me. I'm thinking this will be my last year as a season ticket holder. I can't believe I'll be paying for this nonsense all year.
  13. The Red Sox titles are extremely tainted, since their main two hitters have been accused of roids. Yankees too with A-Rod. At least none of our major contributors from '05 have been caught or mentioned in any reports. Rowand is speculation at this point.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) I've seen improved eye sight, hand-eye coordination, of course more muscle, improved injuries, etc but never about guessing pitches right or having outstanding intellect in pitch recognition. But doesn't improved eye sight help with pitch recognition? Reading Canseco's book opened my eyes as to how much steroids help a person. You certainly need talent, but roids can take you to a whole new level. All these guys numbers don't really mean much anymore.
  15. Um, Tyler hit for s*** last year, so he took a step back. Tyler Minor League Stats
  16. Am I the only one who turned it on at 9CST, and it was half over? I was real confused. It said it was on from 9-10. It ended at 9:35.
  17. YOu should be able to easily buy tickets at the park, and avoid all the ticketmaster charges. YOu can view the schedule and buy tickets at the sox website. If you go next weekend, and you are a blackhawks fan, you can see them play the COyotes. That is what I'm doing. If you go to see the Hawks, or not, the area outside jobing.com arena is a whole entertainment and shopping area. This is also in Glendale, about 5 minutes from Camelback Ranch. Here is a link to that:Westgate City Center
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) I haven't watched any of these. Are they up to the day current or are they produced days/weeks in advance? I think they're only produced a few days in advance. They do show footage of spring training.
  19. Reminder...Sox are on tomorrow night.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Actual fatal airline incidents are so incredibly rare, that I can't imagine why people would pick one airport in the US over another for that reason. I mean, its like comparing a 0.0005% chance to a 0.0004% chance. Besides, I can think of at least a couple airline crashes at O'Hare that killed passengers, but I can't think of any at Midway off-hand (the SW flight that skidded off the runway killed two people in a car, but no one on board). My father's friend has been an air traffic controller for 30 years...he always says, fly out of o'hare...not midway...because its not safe. Take it for what its worth. Like you guys said, there are hardly any incidents anyway. Someone did mention the plane that killed two people in a car, after it went through the wall at central and 63rd. That was during wintery weather.
  21. My two cents...a lot of air traffic controllers would tell you that Midway is not safe. That being said, its still an airport that is used. Personally, I stick with O'hare, even though I live closer to Midway.
