  1. They stopped the game last nite, with Bud Selig going on about how great Roberto Clemente was, talking about his humanitarian work and play on the field. Didnt baseball already do this? Dont they already have an award for him? (Roberto Clemente award) What was the point of this award? What we saw last nite Already happened a number of years ago. I was not clear, but seems Mr Selig wasnt informed that the Clemente family already received recognition for Robertos achievements
  2. Paul Konerko. close 2nd place is Jermaine Dye & Joe Crede
  3. Right off the bat, after the All-Star Break, I see the SOX going 8-8 to end the month.
  4. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I'm a little concerned, but its too early to be worried Ive been Concerned for a little while now ................ We CANNOT count on the offense bailing us out. The SOX have given away a number of games already that wouldve had US IN 1st place already. Instead, were in 2nd, unable to gain anything during our "hot" stretch. What has happened since then, is a couple of our pitchers have gotten worse, with one in particular showing signs of very bad down the stretch. Last year, we were lucky to have built a very big lead to cushion us stumbling down the stretch. Now we have 2 teams to look out for. The SOX MUST do something about the #5 starter and Bullpen situation not to mention Pods' up and down again 1st half.
  5. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) The article wasn't dissing him, just trying to lay out why he's supposedly this controversial figure. BTW anybody catch him on ESPN last night while Dye was up? Hilarious. He told them Dye was using a corked bat. LMAO. YES, but what everyone forgets, is that the SunTimes indeed covered that game first-hand. They know what happened, getting the Timelines blatantly wrong is one thing, but continueing to act as if AJ pointing to the SKY is what got Zambozo hot is MISLEADING. Then again, we know why they continue to put out junk like this ............... simply to discredit the SOX and AJ. Why else would they continue this?
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) Buerhle 8-4 Contreras 10-2 Garcia 8-5 Garland 9-2 Vazquez 3-4, then HE GONE... McCarthy 6-2 Be right back, I need some more kool-aid Thats along more or less what I was thinking. I think the SOX are going to see things WAY TOUGHER the 2nd Half, with the emergence of the Twinkies (I thought Cleveland would Emerge and make things tough) I knew it would be somebody emerging in the AL Central to make things tougher for everyone else, which is why it was So Damaging the stupid losses the SOX incurred 1st Half (the Loss vs KC in April, the 2 cub giveaway games etc etc) We are going to have to put our HOPES in another team, that is, that the TWINKS can bulldoze the TIGERS while we KEEP WINNING (and of course, beat Minnesota also) Buehrle will be slightly above .500. Garcia and Garland are going to RISE UP and do very well down the stretch. Vazquez unfortuneately, wont do well, but continue to Regress ................
  7. Cliff Pollitte is HURT. I dont care what the SOX say. When he was eligible to come off the DL, the SOX shouldve sent him down to AAA to get some work in. Instead, Ozzie promptly put him on the mound during the Sunday Cub game and He blew the game for us. How long its going to take him to heal, im not sure, but maybe Ozzie is throwing him under the bus in order to get us another solid BP guy ..........
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:17 AM) You are very ignorant if you think we got this guy to be "just a number 5 starter." We are paying him WAY too much money to be a #5. At 10.5 million, as I saw elsewhere, he should be damn well pitching like a #1 or #2. Javy is Earning #2 Starter Money. Hes pitching like a #6 starter however. Hes too inconsistent since he got here, but the only reason hes still part of the rotation is the fact he can eat innings, which is important considering our middle relief.
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) We can go on the field?!?! I got mine too! Yeah, I got mine in the mail recently too. I happened to get some extra the last time they did this, and I brought my nephew. He loved it, I gulped down some beers, took the glove and ball, and we played Catch in the outfield. Awesome QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) does anyone know if ozzie plan people get these? No.
  10. Red Sox fans are a bit annoying, but not as much as Yankee fans. Red Sox remind me alot of Cub fans, except Red Sox fans are fairly smart and less drunk
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) in case anyone misssed it, Dusty said that the 9th inning is going to be by commitee. Dusty said "my mother was a history teacher Jack". He mustve been absent, because the Cubs already tried this, hahahahahaahahaha
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) He's the only White Sox player with a reasonable chance of making it into the game. I suggest that everyone on this board go to the All-Star ballot and fill one out. Do an All-Sox ballot, or not, but at least, vote for Iguchi at second. Drop in a couple of hundred votes. Put in your fake email, make a fake account, or just pull one out of your ass. After your first ballot, your ballot is saved so you can revote easily and quickly. We can't just give up, so let's get to it! YUP. Ive got the 4 guys in the office Voting now ...... LETS GO. TADAHITO DESERVES THIS
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Not 5 years ago, 15+ years ago, the Sox decided to go for the family enviornment. I don't think JR was ever comfortable with some of the crowd that inhabited the old ballpark, and he really wanted to make the New Comiskey Park much more of a place you could bring your kids to with some confidence. He called it the biggest "outdoor saloon". Funny, but now that term applies 8 miles north
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) maybe I should just go back to this one. How about showing us his Rankings on 4/30?
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Seriously, once again proving you know nothing about jim Thome and the way he plays the game. Jim Thome 2006 .284 BA .414 OBP .608 SLG 1.022 OPS Career .281 .408 .564 .972 Thome has struck out over 139 times 9 seasons in a row. It would have been 10 if he wasnt hurt last year. His 162 games avg for his career is 164 K's with his high being 185. If you would like to please counter point these facts and statistics, I would encourage you to do so. But your opinion based drabble and unnecessary advice is really ridiculous. Thanks So what your saying, is that since Thome ALWAYS and HISTORICALLY strikes out, just go ahead and let him continue to do so? No need to wax poetic at the way the pitchers seemed to have adjusted to Thome the last few weeks? To wring our hands at an 0 for 6 with 4 K's is "opinion based .....and unnecessary?" Why have Message Boards. Tell us something new Mr. Raines, please! To take your point further, can you imagine if the SOX followed your advice regarding AJ Pierzynski? Heck the guy "historically" before joining the SOX has hit somewhere in the .250's with 12 (or so) Homers being his career high in HR's last year. So for us to have been mad that he struck out a few times last season would again be "opinion based and pure drabble?" Really? You dont say? Well Im sure glad Mr Rock Raines has showed us the light, I wont be so mad when Brian Anderson strikes out on a curveball, because shooot .............. his MLB average is currently around .200 correct? To offer "opinion based drabble" is ridiculous and unnecessary right? Pardon me if I dont take your advice, AJ last season hit "above" his historic averages for Home Runs last season, and this season, is well above his historic averages in Batting Average. Methinks that has something to do with people offering him "advice" on what he was doing wrong all those years, and most likely, taking some pitches. AJ seems to be a much smarter hitter since joining the SOX, im sure it has something to do with Greg Walker offering some advice ........("Ok Hangar, so your saying its only advice thats making AJ better? Ha, you are an idiot, you know nothing of the game of baseball if you think that")
  16. What is disheartening, is that as HOT as the SOX have been, theyve gained NO GROUND. While we were losing 2 of 3 to the Devil Rays, the Tigers are busy SWEEPING them. While were only able to win 2 of 3 from the Astros, the Tiggers are probably going to SWEEP them. These games slowly but surely add up. Our winning record against the Tigers is only whats keeping us close.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Pointless thread: Asking a player to stop producing the way he has been producing his whole hall of fame career. Giving one of the best hitter in the league advice on how to hit. Starting a thread and then continuing to show that you know nothing about Jim Thome and how he has played the game his whole career. ....and you continueing to show that you knew nothing of the SPIRIT OF THE THREAD, which said he needs to stop getting himself out with a certain pitch, go back to doing what he was doing in April, I believe he thinks he has to hit a HR every at bat. He cant. His taking a walk is just as important and FORCES pitchers to eventually having to again throw strikes to him. Where did I say "stop" producing? Where did I say "Memo to Thome: Stop hitting homeruns, walks are more important". Im looking and I cant find where I said that. Im sure I didnt, though I could be wrong. I know how Thome has played his whole career, and I hate strikeouts, especially ones where all your doing is swinging for the fences.
  18. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Can we stop telling hall of fame batters how to bat. Just seems odd to me. So you dont think at some point, someone has mentioned to Thome that hes getting himself out swinging at all of the inside pitches hes seeing? Ive yet to see him hit one of those out of the park. If he gets himself back on track, and remember that he doesnt have to hit everything out of the park, he will be ok.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) Crossing Fingers for what? That you wont start another pointless thread? That Thome will hit .340 with 85 dingers? Crossing my fingers at last response, which said Thome was taking close pitches and not swinging at the good pitchers pitches. Whats wrong with that? Please define "pointless thread". Your posts tend to be pointless, but I dont interrupt the flow of a thread to say that, I simply dont say anything. Anyway, If Thome starts doing what he was doing in April, refusing to swing at everything for the sake of swinging, and takes his Walks, he will start to see More Strikes for sure, because pitchers wont want to walk him to face Konerko & Dye consecutively. Whats wrong with that assertion? (Answer: Nothing)
  20. QUOTE(Pods22 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) I have and you are still more obsessed with the team then anyone i have every came encounter with. Oh Really? How so? Please explain (pulls up chair), id love to hear how Im the most cubsessed person in the world. Go. QUOTE(Pods22 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) I have and you are still more obsessed with the team then anyone i have every came encounter with. If you say that you saw me wearing a cub jersey one time, or that you were at my house and saw a ton of cub memorabilia and cubbie bobbleheads, let me just stop you right now, that wasnt me, that was some other guy you were hanging out with. Ok............GO! (Hangar rips Sandberg and Sosa posters off walls. Sips coffee and waits for response ......)
  21. These Palehouse 6 comics are pretty clever. Who makes them?
  22. QUOTE(Pods22 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) Most think it is a good laugh you are obsessed though. there are 158 other posts about that other team, in a thread dedicated to that other team. Might want to rethink who is "obsessed".
  23. Im SICK SICK SICK of Jim Hendry and anyone else associated with that other team, constantly making GRATUITIOUS references to having the "best fans in the world". Memo to Cubs: SOX fans are the best fans in the world. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) And yes, tonight's Cubs loss was hyseterical. Good times, good times. DAMMIT! I missed it! Theres nothing like having a GOOD LAUGH at the Cubs' expense .....
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) Thome is looking much better at the plate tonight, imo. He's taking the close pitches and even taking some strikes (that aren't good hitters pitches). I think he's close to getting back on a tear. (crossing fingers)
  25. So this is your site? QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) I stole someone's idea about Kotex-Boy referring to Frank as the big skirt and expounded upon it a little more. So if it is wrong to call someone a f@# because of the connotations that go with it, why is it not wrong to use a term that obviously points to transvestites and/or women as lesser people as an insult? Isn't the usage of both terms basically the same, as they were meant to serve as a demeaning insult by holding up another group of people as being lesser than another? So when does Jay resign his position because of his obvious hatred of women and/or transvestites in his columns through the years? Also, does someone have the Guillen email address?
