  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Yes, the NL is incredibly weak. I never said it had to make any sense, IMO, the Mets are the toast of a very pathetic league, even with a pretty weak backend of the rotation. Your initial post to his post came off a bit abrasive. I agree, the Mets are phony
  2. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) She won Pepsi for a year...Pepsi Fan of the Game!! Yeah, she won Pepsi for a year is right. My trophy is cooler though
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) I like the way Ozzie handled it. Apologized to those who might have been offended, but didn't take back the fact that he thinks Mariotti is dickless. The SOX organization did a pretty decent job, all things considered in trying to put out this brush fire thats become a forest fire now. Ozzie said exactly what needed to be said. Someone needs to tell Keith Olbermann to get his own opinion now ............
  4. The only good thing about all of this? Is that Jay called out his own paper and the Trib for their slanted coverage, heh hehe heheheh. Excellent.
  5. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I agree that there is no place for this kind of incendiary language. Attaching certain words to groups of people is not only unfair, but is insulting and shows intolerance as well. I can't blame the gay communities outrage over Guillen's use of the word "Mariotti" when referring to them. That's clearly over the line. SFF I dont think the gay community was as "offended" as the media was. Its a term that Oz probably shouldnt be using, but again. Oz has been like this forever. Why is it a problem NOW? I repeat. This SHOULD NOT BE A NATIONAL STORY. The freaking media should be ashamed of themselves.
  6. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) And Ozzie also ought to consider for a moment how his constant use of profanity plays for a family game like baseball. I have a 3-year-old son who loves the White Sox. Fortunately, he hasn't a clue what our manager is saying. But what about those whose kids are 10, 11, 12, etc. -- old enough to listen to the post-game show? Would I want my son to be listening to what Ozzie Guillen is saying? No. I like how this angle hasnt been used yet, because its legitimate. But let me say this, Ozzie has always been like this. Why is it a big deal now?
  7. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) The media is eating this crap up, and why are these reporters asking him about Mariotti anyway? Just to ignite the fire. He needs to stick to answering baseball questions, and not questions about how he feels about The Big Hurt or Magglio or Mariotti. That is where he gets into trouble, because he tells them exactly how he feels. YES, they know what theyre doing when they continue and continue and continue to ask the same stupid questions, when all they want to do is start a meaningless controversy. Just ignore the Stupid Questions and believe it or not, they go away Ozz. I dont think Ozz will ever tone down, and thats mostly ok with me. He will evolve as a manager. Ozz and the rest of the SOX organization know they still arent getting a fair shake in this town, this "latest controversy" should NEVER have become a national story in as short a time span as it has. It just reminds you that there are people in the Media who are ready and waiting to Tear the SOX down first chance they get. Heck, look in the papers, all you read is "people are tiring of his act", yet when the fans are polled, what are we saying? We love him. Well then it must be the players who are tired of him and dislike him. Nope, Paulie says the players wouldnt trade him for the world. So who is tiring of Ozzie then? QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) Ozzie probably will never lose his players. If the comments continue he will eventually alienate large groups of fans. And how will he lose large groups? A SOX pitcher one day will have a bad outing, 2 innings, 9 runs and Ozzie will comment "he pitched like horse **** today". The media will run a ton of articles saying Ozzie must hate horses and horse lovers too, since they like horses, and they will call on him and the SOX organization to apologize to the Association of Horse Lovers. This stupid cycle will repeat itself and the media will continue to call it fact. Hes being called a national embarrassment? give me a break.
  8. The only thing I will back Mariotti up on, is the fact that he mentions that his paper isnt backing him up on this, which every paper should be backing him up on, if he wants to just go down the "he used a slur against me" path. He was on the radio yesterday. I like the slap in the face he gives the Tribune, saying "if the Chicago Tribune as we've all suspected through the years, isnt quite as critical of the Cubs as the SunTimes....heck the SunTimes needs to treat every team equally". Jay is calling out the Trib, but ive been calling them out for years, but its the first time in a while somone is also calling out the Times too. "were a rival"
  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) I'd be kinda bothered myself if I were a Cards fan...I woulda just watched my team lose 2 games by a total of 33-11....and the scores still don't really tell the story. They were NEVER in these games, both starters got absolutely hammered, and this was a true test for St. Louis to see how they stack up against the World Champs, albeit without their main star. They've been humbled a bit, and no thats not smacktalk towards the Cards. It took them some soothing from SOX fans to remember hey, at least its the SOX that are beating them and not the Cubs, heh heh.
  10. There were a number of Cardinal fans at the game last nite, and let me tell you some of them were pretty mad about losing again.
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) Re-read the title of the thread Hangar. The media watch is OVER. Your rants were inane and repetitive. Go take your schtick to a blog where it belongs and can be rightfully ignored. Maybe you'll finally "get it". Kap said in his above posts you're welcome to post on other topics but not on the media, so what do you do, your first two posts you talk about the media. Take it to a blog Hangar. The media watch is OVER. NO, Kap said no starting Media Watch threads. let the mods do their jobs instead of you telling them what to do. We dont need you interpreting messages, I think others will agree. Your questions were inane and repetitive "hey hangar, how is the media maligning the sox?" "If the Trib has it in for the SOX, why do they cover them huh? Cmon hangar answer that or Im telling a mod to censor you" what kind of a stupid question is that? and seeing todays headlines ..... you dont see the SOX and Ozzie getting maligned? No, guess you dont. Just because I dont answer a stupid question by you, doesnt make your question that much more valid. Dick Allen in just a couple of posts, managed to answer numerous questions, but your more interested in clogging up a thread.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) I had said repeatedly that Hangar was on thin ice concerning the media watches, if he couldn't supply answers for legitimate concerns Jims questions were inane and repetitive. DickAllen in one post managed to answer a number of his questions, yet he persisted. I wasnt going to waste my time answering him. I give a big thumbs up that your at least not "banning" me, heh heh. Thats too bad, I had a lot to say this morning about the Chicago Media events from yesterday afternoon, last nite. Some very very interesting things came up regarding Mariotti, Downey that I think you guys wouldve found very very interesting, especially as pertains to my "media watches". Even Jim I think after all the events in the paper may finally "get it", eh Jim? QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:35 AM) I think it's great that this stuff is over with. Yeah, nothing like ignoring the media right Jim?
  13. Wow. Thats too bad. I was going to mention today how the Chicago media is running wild with their "ozzie must go" pieces now. Downey even jumps in. Followed by ESPN, and even Keith Olbermann of MSNBC is calling him the "worst person in the world". Meanwhile the SOX just keep on winning.
  14. Dont know how they do it ...............
  15. QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) It's not like any of those jokers are real reporters, after all -- if they were, the steroid story would have been broken 10 years earlier. heh heh heh. Remember the McDowell/Messiah flap a couple years ago? McDowell was a sports writer for yahoo sports, and the steroid scandal was full-scale in the news, and McDowell said that now unfortuneately, anyone that gets injured now, will fall under the cloud of suspicion of having used steroids. He said that though he doesnt know The Messiah personally, his injury looks very suspicious, especially because of the nature of his injuries. McDowell again pointed out that he wasnt saying Messiah was using roids, but because of nature of his injuries (which match other steroid related injuries), every similar injury is going to be thought of as steroid related until something can be done about it. Well, SunTimes writer/propogandist Mike "Yellow" Kiley runs to Mark Prior and tells him that Jack McDowell has just accused him of using steroids. The Messiah is angered and fires back, saying Black Jack doesnt know him, and he should shut his mouth. A witchhunt calling for Jack McDowells head ensues in Chicago radio and papers, leading to a mini Sox backlash. ESPN, the network that brings you Yankees and Red Sox hilites daily, then runs with Kileys piece on its website, with a McDowell Accuses Prior headline, which of course blew up into a huge pile of nonsense, with the media lambasting Jack for NO REASON, other than they thought their precious cub was being outed. Bunch of BS. Ironically, I saw Jack a week after all of that went down, and I told him I knew exactly what he was saying in his article and I knew he wasnt making accusations at all. He laughed and said the media was stupid, and that he towards the end of the week, just started laughing about the nonsense. Jack took a beating in this town for a week on sportsradio and the papers. Ignore the media? yeah right
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) What enjoyment do you get out of this? Also, how much free time do you have? A: I love exposing the media B: Not as much as I would like
  17. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) You just want the Tigers manager to manage and you know you aren't winning the World Series. That's it right? Right? HAHAHAHAHAHA. I like it the way it is, it rewards the teams that went to the World Series and lets them have a say in the rosters for the ASG the next year. Know what All Star Game rule Id like to see changed? KEEP THE ROTATION INTACT AND LET EVERYONE HAVE A FAIR CHANCE TO HOST. Seligs nonsensical decision to start awarding the games to teams who have "new" stadiums, was nothing more than a way for him to provide a "reward" for teams, and of course, to have control over the process. In other words, make sure you send Bud a christmas card every year, and get in good with him and the upper crust who are running the game, and you can probably have the AllStar Game next. Before, everyone just took turns. Now, the Commissioner "decides" who gets next. How the hell do the Pirates get the All Star Game in 97 and 06? BS
  18. QUOTE(henry wiggins @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Oh lordy -- I've seen the flak you draw, and you're right up there with Ozzie! I might prefer something less contentious. No offense! heh heh, dont worry, your a girl the vultures will leave you alone, they know where you came from heh heh
  19. QUOTE(henry wiggins @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Nope, girl, south sider (Beverly), work at the Merc, Sox fan since very young, adore Ozzie and go to games to ogle Brian Anderson and Joe Crede. I'll change my posting name, thanks for the tip. Change it to Hangar Wiggins, heh heh!
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) All this publicity has pushed that day even farther back. It will be interesting to see how Marriotti tries to keep the momentum of all of this going. He's going to be baiting Ozzie even more now. Im nominating this for post of the day. Thats all Mariotti is doing, and some of the other idiots (jealous) who continue to come out of the woodwork and try to pile-on when they think they have a chance to make Ozzie or the Sox look bad. Ozzie would be wise to just ignore this clown, and concentrate on who hes going to call from the bullpen. This is a minor story that has gotten bigger thanks to the Sox haters in the media. SOX FANS NOT BITING THIS TIME
  21. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) i was watching cold pizza and they actually mentioned: "why don't they fire Ozzie?" Hahahaha yea right, like JR would fire Ozzie just from a little statment They actually said that? *SIGHS* I hate the freaking media .................
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) What upsets me more than what he said is the attention it draws from the ballclub. We just MURDERED St. Louis and now will have to hear this story for several more days. Having Mariotti appear a sympathetic figure in any form doesn't sit well with me either. YUP. I dont understand why some in the media think that this incident is the SMOKING GUN, and will run Ozzie out of town for good. Thats not gonna happen, but the fact that the media keeps on trying ....................to make something out of nothing when its about the White Sox. YES, Ozzie probably shouldnt have said what he said, and he shouldnt have let himself get baited either. Why wasnt the media in this much of an uproar, when former Ch.7 sports reporter Brad "the professor" Palmer asked Dusty Baker what he might have known about Barry Bonds' "cheating" (after testimony revealed that "cheating" was in fact being done daily in the SF Giants clubhouse while Baker was mgr there). Anyone remember the exchange? Baker angrily asked if Palmer ever cheated on his wife. The chicago sheep media members who were in the cub clubhouse at the time (and I heard Bruve Levineline snickering also in the background) guffawed at the comment as if Baker were on stage at 2ndCity.
  23. The media sickens me the way they look for any reason to talk negative about the White Sox. What a stupid Article, Stupid Choices and stupid reasoning for writing this piece. Hes not in "hot water" as the article implies, but all this does in a very Tribune-esque way, is plant the seed of doubt now. ESPN = IDIOTS
  24. QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) If you let the Old Style guy know you're in, he'll find you and keep you full. They understand the difference between the beer drinkers from the bud *** yuppies. This is true, I remember being in the UD for a game and he was wearing SOX & Cubs buttons. he looked exactly like Bobby Hill and was pretty popular, he never made it to another section with the Old Style
  25. I found Greg Couchs article somewhat interesting, though I cant tell if hes seriously offended at the comments made by Ozzie, or was he the one that continues to ask the lightning rod question "what do you think of Jay Mariotti?". Its almost pointless to talk about Moronotti anymore, but I wonder why some in the Media continue to fuel the flames. Couch also calls for his suspension. Im not so sure about that. One comment by Couch I found very compelling though today. "This organization has fought for decades to erase a lower class label" I guess someone should tell the SOX who cares what the media/people say about you right? I think the fact that the SOX have been "fighting for decades" shows they arent happy (read: acnowledge)with the perception thats been fueled in this town about them.
