  1. NICE ............... get the SOX name out there
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Funny stuff. And no this shouldn't be in the diamond club. What it should be is a closed thread with the rules of the site from those who make them, and not open for discussion. This is a privately owned site. I don't see why anyone's opinion but the law makers matters. Don't like it... don't let the door hit ya. I know I was one of the ones you decided attacked you, but in all fairness - recall the circumstances correctly and factually and you will recall that you were not the target of everyone's anger, but put yourself in the line of fire. rangercal - ditto. Yeah, shes referring to me. But Sox76 shouldnt be assualted, simply for sticking up for whats right "keep your nose elsewhere" comments are uncalled for. But Yes, no armchair moderating, or quoting of "rules". We all know the rules, let the mods do their jobs.
  3. and the Armchair Moderating has to stop also ...........
  4. I was really hoping FOX would NOT have baseball anymore. Their LAZY way of covering the games, and their HBO-esque way of Promoting games, especially playoff games, is PATHETIC.
  5. One of my coworkers just got off the phone with a company we deal with out of Cincinnati, and they are livid over this "trade".
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) They are trying to get viewers. They're doing it by attracting one of the biggest fanbases in America. Well, that much I believe, that they are trying to get viewers (sheep). As I said, that fanbase is the dumbest in all of sports, and HBO could produce that same piece differently 5 yrs in a row, with the same content, and those monkeys would fall down running to their TV's to watch it year after year. No, Im sure that much they know ........ But lets take it easy Mr. Ross Greenburg ............. this isnt a Groundbreaking, Never been told before piece. Hes taking the easy way out
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) There are more Cubs fans than Sox fans and it's ridiculous to believe otherwise. That may possibly have been true at one point a while back, but its nonsense to believe its so now. Nonsense. Completely. Guys like Greenburg and companies like HBO, MasterCard, think theyve got the pulse of America, but these bozos are a week late and $20 bucks short. Basically what I told him, was that REGURGITATING the same thing over and over, isnt really working all that hard. True, that fanbase is one of the dumbest in all of sports, and will fall down running to spend their money on crap like this, but then they simply need to just say that instead.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) I bet he doesn't give 2 s***s what you think. They do specials on frachises like the Cubs because people will watch! The White Sox simply do not attract enough attention from a nation-wide audience to warrant a special like this. This guy's f***ing job is to get more viewers to tune into his station. His job isn't to be "fair" with whom he decides to cover. What the f*** is so hard to understand about this? I'll bet he doesnt either. But he still got an email from me. Your assertion that the SOX dont attract "enough attention" is one of those false-hoods that in itself, keeps perpetuating nonsense beliefs by a clown like Ross Greenburg. Im going on the notion that Greenburg is LAZY and is missing the real story. There are, especially NOW, as many SOX fans as there are fans of that other team. Thats whats so hard to understand about this. The continued ignoring of a better story.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Congratulations to the NL Central champion St Loius Cardinals... (hangar spits up lunch laughing )
  10. Saw this in the paper today, cant believe I missed it. Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, says the "Cubs boast some of the most dedicated fans in all of sports" :puke Im about to send him an email telling him to save HBO some money, because everyone and their mother has done some type of "special" regarding that joke of a franchise. He says their network is doing it in order to "explore this deep connection" and to bring to light some "of the lesser known stories".
  11. QUOTE(fullcollapse @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) the award was the commissioner's historic achievement award, not the roberto clemente award. the clemente award is recognizing a player who gives back to the community, in the spirit of clemente. a list of previous chaa winnners http://www.i-sportsbook.com/baseball/commi...ment_award.html Ahhh, I see. So this is a "historic achievement" award. So it took baseball 34 years to recognize his achievements? heh heh. I dont mind Clemente getting this award, but maybe they couldve given to him Opening Day of 73. Or 75. Or 79. Or when the AllStar Game was there back in the 90's? Selig and MLB were looking for their Gratuitious moment, they shoudlve named a Scholarship after him. That wouldve made more sense I think ........
  12. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) And let's not forget who put an end to Cleveland's red hot streak last year and pretty much saved our ass: yup, KC. One dropped fly ball and our season was saved. Tampa moreso. They probably single-handedly helped the SOX bigtime in September. Im hoping the Royals decide to play the role of the DevilRays down the stretch, because now we need help from other teams (You HATE to be in a position where you need others to help you) If Somehow, KC decides to take 2 of 3 and we can take 2 of 3 from the Yankees, it will leave us 1 game behind heading into the Tiger series .......................... and dont think the Tiggers wont be nervous knowing we can take over 1st place. Thats the key, we need KC to win a couple of those games (and us winning at least 2 of 3) to get the Tiggers looking over their shoulders ............
  13. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) With the Tiggers playing the Royals this weekend, and us playing the Yankees, We can easily fall to 3 or 4 games back. The Tiggers wont lose this weekend. Then we go to Detroit for 3 games. The SOX have put themselves in a position where they now have to sweep to get close, whereas the Tigers have to win just 1 game to keep their lead the same.
  14. With the Tiggers playing the Royals this weekend, and us playing the Yankees, We can easily fall to 3 or 4 games back. The Tiggers wont lose this weekend.
  15. YES. I will say this though, Mr. Incredible is the quietest 40+ homer guy in Chicago ..............
  16. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) Well, there is something that is known as "failure to diagnose," which could cause some big problems for sports physicians... Doctors can always revert back to the fact that they are "practicing" physicians ....... which is kind of a loophole
  17. QUOTE(SoxFanInDallas @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:42 AM) You wouldn't say that if you were the spouse of a Doctor. Besides that, doctors are human. Some are going to make mistakes. If improper treatment led to the worsening of the injury, then there may be some merit. But, if it only delayed the diagnosis, this lawsuit is BS. Good Point. But If I just said the same thing You just said just now ...........
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) There isn't much to spin here if the Sox doctors screwed up. The only alternative is Frank is lying through his teeth, and I just don't see that happening. With the value of contracts being as high as they are for players, guys like Wood and Thomas and others are going to start looking at doing things like this (this was talked about on the Score yesterday by the way)
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) If they screwed up, they should be held accountable. "Everything that Steff said, I agree completely"
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) Griffey Jr always has my full attention. OMG
  21. I love the one where the AJ is ripping on the Media for always printing negative stuff about him, HAHAHAHHAA
  22. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) I got the same response from him Some of the other excuses they use (both papers) is: 1. I dont write the headlines, someone else does 2. Editor chooses which stories I should write, not me 3. Editor chooses which teams I should write about, not me 4. I dont write the stories, only the headlines 5. Editor is in charge of overall content, not me 6. I dont edit my stories, our copy editors do that
  23. hahahaha. The Cubs were salivating over him or Crawford. Heard yesterday all day on talk radio that Zito may be next, and his destination is 8 miles north ...... what garbage.
  24. The whole thing was Selig-esque/been there-done that. They can honor him, but unless its for something different, or a new award or something of that nature, I didnt see what the point was, because THEY DID THIS already. Thats like the SOX having a 1983 Tribute next week, getting all the players together, talk about the accomplishments etc etc. Or having a Carlton Fisk Tribute day again, complete with Statue dedication and talk about his accomplishments etc etc. That shouldve been done before the game, not in the middle of the contest. It was a gratuitious pr stunt by Selig and MLB. If they wanted to do something, have a Clemente Scholarship awarded to anyone in the Pittsburgh area or something a bit more original than the "he was great, heres a trophy" schtick that the MLB braintrust seems to think is forward thinking.
  25. 2003. Despite losing all of those games, I saw the beginning of their pitching.
