It is a little more than a minor signing. Alomar isn't going to help us out any persay offensively or defensively but it will help us to not ruin another prospect in Olivo. As is stood throwing him into the SL and leaving Paul as his mentor is certain disastor for him. Now he doesn't have to start and he has a good mentor.

Great post. I think Ortiz would of definately been able to win 18-20, but hey, the Braves got him at a higher price. I will continue to say that would of been like us trading Garland or maybe Wright for Ortiz. Of course I would of probably done Wright for Ortiz, but it still wouldn't really solve the rotation, it would just be an upgrade. Interesting to see what Jayson Stark said. I think he's a pretty reliable reporter, much more so, then say Peter Gammons. It would be like giving up more than Garland in my opinion. Moss had an ERA under 4 in his rookie season. Something Garland would dream of being able to say. I think it was good for SF

It was reported by Phil Rogers of the Trib I believe. BTW according to jayson Stark, Rogers was wrong that the Sox declined that offer. I think SF was ready to do it until they were offered Moss who is much better than Liefer or Harris.

Does anyone else find it strange that Peter Gammons is the only person who says this will happen and he said it on ESPN News... not online, not on Sportscenter. The radio doesn't seem to be reporting it, I can't find it anywhere online. I think it is all a little bit fishy. I don't see Ortiz in a Sox uni but thats just me.
