QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) I'd love to see Pods back, but I think it only happens under two conditions... 1) He has to stay healthy for the rest of the season, meaning not so much as a tweak. 2) He starts stealing bases like he had in 2005, or somewhere close to it. If he was a guy who would steal 12 or so bases per month when he was going good, I want him to steal another 15-20 this season, just to show he's still capable of stealing 40+. And he needs to have about a 75% success rate. I fully agree

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) I hope he does After we have a 10 run lead As long as we win, Id be happy if Frank went yard every at bat.

If they finish the year out strong ( assuming neither gets traded) I would be all for bringing BOTH of them back. Of course I am in the minority here.

QUOTE(Jeremy @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Certainly, it's possible that that's the case in some instances. However, you really can't imagine that anyone would have been concerned about signing a pitcher coming off the best stretch of his career to a large three year extension through his 37th (40th?!) birthday? If so, that's troubling. I can probably count on one hand the number of pitchers I'd like to pay a large amount of money for their age 35-37 seasons and Jose is not one of them. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it but I can assure you that I for one thought the extension was insane while the ink before the ink had dried and my opinion hasn't changed at all since then. Kenny inherited a 95 win team with one of the lowest payrolls in the league and a farm system rated amongst the best by Baseball America so keeping the team above .500 shouldn't be considered a huge feat in my mind. Huh? A long time? You mean the 2005 season? Because he had an ERA of 5.5 the previous season. Also, by top 3 do you mean top 30? How do you figure that a guy with the 27th best ERA in '05 was one of the three best pitchers in baseball that season? If I had to guess I'd say something like 5% of pitchers are still in the league at 40. A lot of guys don't make it past their 30th birthday because of ineffectiveness and/or injury. Pitching well into your mid and late thirties is extremely difficult. A championship ring counts for something. Count was clutch in the 2nd half of 05 and yes, he was a top 3 pitcher from mid 05-throught the playoffs and mid 06.

wow thats a nice little scam site

I Loved the deal , he was our world series ace and was one of the top 3 pitchers in the game for a long time. Considering many sps pitch until they are 40, I didn't see much risk as it looked like Count found his tools. I guess over half the posters in this thread didn't like the deal at the time. Umm yeah right

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) Pretty much 99% of this board HATED Willie Harris while he was here, and wanted him gone. Maybe this is a case of a guy figuring it out later in his career, but pining for him after hating him so much is just funny. That's not the case at all. I sure never hated him and know for sure I wasn't alone. I thought he was solid before the injury in 2004. He never had a full chance with the sox after that.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 12:10 PM) I saw Stephanie on tv a couple of years ago, and I told my friends that she ended up being the best looking one of the daughters from Full House. Nobody believed me, especially since she was the worst during the run of the show. Now you all see. I just caught this too. You sure she was worse than 5 year old michelle? Why do they REALLY call you milkman?
